Apple TV switching itself on

Hi everybody,

After updating to tvOS 10.2, my AppleTV switches itself on - I would say every 10 minutes. Switching of doesn't solve it, it switches itself on and on....

Does anybody know that issue?

Thanks

MacBook Pro with Retina display, iOS 10.1.1

you are correct j-Braun! 😮

Hit SLEEP on my ATV 10.2 and yank the hdmi out the second the light goes out...

and my LGTV fails to turn off and displays NO SIGNAL

but my Apple TV stays OFF! 🙂

and when i reconnect the hdmi it remains off until manually turned back on.

so it appears to be nothing network related and something to do with the HDMI cable rewaking before the TV has had time to execute its shutdown command

...still wasn't happening before 10.2,

so need that patch please Apple!

Hi Roger Wilmut1. Just to clarify, the WD MyCloud uses a Twonky media server, which scans the network looking for possible receivers. This populates the receivers list, which you can view in the media server menus. This scan apparently tries to open a connection to a port on Apple TV, which now causes it to wake up and display the Device Requirements message. Your solution, moving the Apple TV to WiFi, has apparently blocked the scan, at least on your network.

Interestingly I didn't see that message when it was switching itself on while on ethernet, it just kept coming back on. When I moved to wifi I saw that message but it was just the once, it's not happened since. However AFAIK the MyCloud is the only thing I have liable to cause this wake-up (even when it's asleep itself, or at least the disk spun down). Fortunately the performance with wifi is fine.

I've never experienced this issue with my Apple TV (4thG with latest update) until:

- I connected it to my wireless network. I needed to enable wireless because remote apps doesn't detected my devices (Apple Watch, iPhone or iPad) under an Ethernet connection.

- I installed Apple TV app in my iPhone to test connectivity.

The issue magically disappeared by simply deleting my iPhone from authorized devices in Apple TV and connecting it again to ethernet network.

My conclusion is that Apple TV connectivity has some kind of bug that doesn't seems to be related to Android or airplay (I've been using it without problems), but with networking. It is absolutely weird that Ethernet connectivity doesn't work properly.

Hope this help.
