iPad Pro 10.5 screen randomly freezes - anyone else have this?

Brand new (obviously) iPad Pro 10.5. It happens, very intermittently but it happens. It's like the touch screen is dead. Double-clicking the home button brings up the task list. You can then move to a different app. But then the screen is still dead. Turning the screen off and on will reset things, so that the screen becomes live again. Frustrating and not something I've ever seen before. This is my fourth iPad. Maybe it's defective? Just wondering is it just me or do other people see this too.

Mine got a lot better with 11.3 but then restarted with the issue a few days later. Took it to Apple store and they replaced it. Tech said it’s most likely a logic board issue. While reduce motion, and disabling promotion helps this gimps your iPad un necessarily. Just get it replaced. Seems like a known issue they’re just not making public.

Did you ever get this resolved malum363?

I have this issue on iPad Pro 12.9 G2 256GB with all recent versions of IOS. After many months of trial and test I’m unable to resolve thru ... full clean configurations, soft resets, app or system setup changes, nor through only using Apple apps. Apple support finds no issues during remote diagnostics.

Issue seems to build in intensity over several days eventually even making entering text with keyboard an exercise in frustration ... my best guess is this is a hardware fault which the iPad recovers from but does not report on. Rotating the screen 90 degrees often clears the immediate freeze.

It may be related to different components in the various iPad Pro hardware builds as not everyone get's an iPad Pro that exhibits this fault. Have sent feedback to Apple but now about to approach the nightmare of reporting an intermittent fault through technical support.

Have the same problems with touch and responsiveness on my iPad Pro 10.5, 256 Gb with the 11.2.1 iOS update, have had the issue since I started it up though...bought at Best Buy on 12-10 so I think I’ll return it on Monday since it seems to be a non-Nguyen...my iPad Air 2does not have such an issue, it’s just so slow with the latest iOS‘s...their making the tablet experience a bummer

Same issue with my iPad Pro 10.5 as well.. though it is not 512 GB model rather a 256 one.

iPad's screen freezes for few seconds and starts working well again automatically. This tends to be an extremely bad user experience since we've paid **** lot of money on this product and would expect no lag touch screen device.

I've contacted Apple Customer Care, did all they asked me to do but nothing helped. Then also visited the Apple service centre where they did a quick diagnosis; according to which all my hardware is in sound condition. They said it should be a bug in the software and would be fixed in the upcoming update.

Today I updated my iPad to iOS 11.4 but it didn't help also.

Looking for a fix asap to this as it is getting annoying day by day since this problem is rendering my device useless..

Windower, you asked whether I ever got the problem resolved. (I was the original poster on this thread.)

No, not really. However the problem stopped happening on my iPad Pro 10.5. I don’t know why. I didn’t do anything. It happened multiple times within the first few weeks. Then it just went away. My theory is that the problem was triggered by some process which was very active within the first few weeks and which then receded. Perhaps it was the progressive download of all my photos and videos from iCloud. Like maybe there is an issue when it is syncing up a very large file from the cloud, and the freeze is the result. But when that download finished, all my photos and videos are local on the iPad in full granularity, then the opportunity for the freeze went away. That’s just speculation though.

Mine did it the first few weeks after I bought it, but has quit now. I looked at settings and Reduce Motion is off. I don’t remember now if I changed that myself in an attempt to fix the issue, or if it was defaulted that way. I haven’t done anything else to try to correct the issue, but there have been several updates since the first time this question was posted, so maybe it’s been fixed by Apple.
