My apps use around 7gb, photos are in iCloud storage, only a few of them are on the phone. And the rest of my storage uses system 8.3 gb. How can it be? Why did I buy the phone with 16gb and got only 8gb of storage for usage?

I had this problem in my 16GB ipad. The entire 16GB was used up by the OS. I did a full reset and installed the latest IOS which was 11.4. All is good now and the ios is only using 4.81GB currently although I have noticed it climbing slowly. It really wasn't that hard to do the reset and only took a few minutes to get all my apps and photos back on the device. I didn't do a restore of a backup because I wasn't sure if that would bring the problem with it.

I have a similar problem and you didn’t explain the huge System storage use. Another person here has a System that’s even more of a hog!

Becky you did not answer the question of why the system is using so much storage. This thread is now months old, hundreds of users are reporting the same problem, but no one has addressed it.

That was a wonderful non-answer. Why is 50% of my storage being taken by the system? No matter what I do? If I delete all my pictures, the system storage increases to take up the available space.
Try to use Dr. cleaner app it works
I updated to 11.4 and still have this issue
