Loose USB c port on MacBook Pro 2017

A few days ago I noticed that the two usb c ports on the left side of my MacBook had gotten noticeably looser than the ports on the other side. I don't really plug things into them more than I plug into the other side so I don't think its from overuse. When the MacBook came all four ports were nice and stiff, they all clicked in and felt like they would stay put. But now the two both just kind of slide into the computer and they don't feel like they will stay in securely. Has anybody else had a problem like this with any of their MacBooks or is it possible I got two defective ports on one side of the computer

hi to all, I withdrew yesterday my macbook, which had the problem at USBC ports, I had to argue a lot with the boy of the Genius bar (what genius ..?) to make me replace the doors. The first guy said that it was a normal thing that wear, to which I am angry saying that from a computer that costs € 3500 (+ 300 Apple care ..) this thing is unacceptable, I also told him that I had read on this community (their ..) of the widespread problem, I also showed him that on the mac exposed the problem is not vrified, and only after having discussed for a long time I managed to make me replace the parts.

Always the Genius (?) He said that he would replace them but the problem would be reified .. It's okay, but I could not even give a simple backup with TM.

In the end they replaced the ports, and also the logic board and the keyboard, perhaps due to the fact that this model of macbook is difficult to repair, and this thing is not good at all, it's okay when Apple Care is active, but the repair invoice, under Apple's charge, is 1097 euros!

the advice I can give you is to demand the repair of the doors, also because the problem is design, and it is them, as I wrote, in the door on the charger, the problem does not arise, and as I pointed out to Genius (?) the number of times I connect the cable to the two sockets (charger and mac) is the same, so it's an obvious design problem ..

satisfied with the repair, but unhappy with how they tried to pretend nothing, if I was not angry and I had mentioned the community, they would not do anything, unacceptable for a brand like Apple, I hope they behave differently, but I did not doubts this way.

I hope I have been helpful

Do not expect me to solve the problem alone, and I advise you to go to numerous to protest the problem, probably in the US are more careful, but in other parts are not, I myself had to discuss for 30 minutes with two Genius, and I had to mention this official community, and refer to this post to get the repair, and I have the apple care ..

Then they combined a mess, replacing the logic board with one with the video card Radeon 455, I have the 460 .. so a downgrade .. I came back and I got the card replaced, obviously they have apologized, but from Apple some things you would not expect.

as I pointed out to the Genius, the connector on the charger, used the same number of times as the Mac, even more certainly being one, is well done and the connection is always the same, but on the Mac are a real crap, and practically every accessory, or simply the charging cable, must be connected to these, I have failed various backups for this problem.

go to the apple store and let the port change!

I've had my machine a bit over a year. One of my USB-C ports is broken, and the other 3 are barely marginal. Monitor and power cords come out even just bumping the desk. I have to keep mashing them in.

Apple Store is willing to fix them at $100 per port, if I can part with my macbook for a few days, which is very hard for me to do.

Come on, Apple. Own up to your problem and figure out a better way to help your customers.

I have been wondering exactly the same thing. I have the same computer. Often when I have an external drive plugged in it randomly says you disconnected the drive as the ports are terribly loose and not nice and stiff. I can't say I have plugged that many things in. I wondered is this just my computer or is this some sort of pathetic usb-c deal... Will be making an appointment at apple genius bar.

I also have the same problem, I'm always very careful in connecting the cable, but I noticed that all 4 doors are now quite loose after only 6 months, now my MBP have 1 year.

I noticed that on the power adapter, the male part of the connector is constructed in different ways, and better, than the same on the machine, and in fact, that works properly.

I have the Apple care, I hope they do not make a fuss about replacing the doors, given what the warranty extends.

I have the same problem on the port where I normally charge. It is unacceptable for a device that is sold at a high price and supposedly designed for pro users to have such a major design flaw. It seems that all 4 usb-c ports are susceptible to the loosening, which is like an impending doom.

There are no official apple stores in the country where I live, so taking the laptop to an authorized repair shop will result in a 6 week turn around for any repairs because parts have to be shipped in from either Hong Kong or Singapore.

I have the same problem here! I have an expensive £2800 MBP using external SSDs with virtual machines and USB-c is proving to be disaster ports -- same as video editing, if external drives get disconnected, this causes a big problem and wasted work. I even purchased expensive Belkin USB-C cables to minimize the problem - but now I'm slowly realising it is not the cables : it is the port in the MBP which is becoming looser with use -- this is an expensive Pro machine - I expect Apple to fix this via recall!

I am very much confused with this. One port (which is usually used for charging) in my Macbook pro is loose compared to the others, however they are still usable. If they are going to replace my port with the same design, I am sure that this will happen after few months. I wish we could inform apple about this and get this fixed in a proper way.

unfortunately it is the same thing that they said to me too, but I pretended that I would change the ports, first thing because on a mac of 3,500 euros, a thing like that does not have to happen, second because I often failed the backup, or I found the mac discharge the next morning, despite having been attacked in recharge.

and as long as I get the Apple care, if it comes back, I'll change it.

Apple, I think, is aware of the problem, but why has not there been a recall campaign yet?

It happens to virtually everyone after 6 months of use, obviously it does not happen to those who do not use the ports, but it is practically impossible, given that every single accessory is connected to those ports.
