Can't play ringtone in iOS 11

I have an iPhone 6 Plus. After I upgraded today to iOS 11, the phone won't play my personalized ringtones. They are still there and will play when I look at them in Sounds/Ringtone and one of them still shows as the selected ringtone, but when a call comes in, it goes to the default Opening. Any ideas?

Folks, I'll post once more in case some of you missed it. I synched with iTunes via sync cable. After synching, go to Settings>Sounds & Haptics>Ring Tone. Scroll to very top. Download All Purchased Tones. Worked for me when I did the first upgrade of iOS 11. Same thing happened when I upgraded to 11.2.6. Repeated the synching process and all ringtones restored.

The reason I know Apple is aware is very simple. Many through this thread have provided Apple Feedback the way that Apple wants to hear about issues and that is by providing feedback via this link: Feedback - iPhone - Apple

As to how long it will take Apple to release a fix, no one could guess. Issues go in line in terms of severity of issue. And while this is certainly annoying, it's not a severe issue.

I went to the local Apple brick & mortar and talked to a Genius Bar tech there. He could not make my .m4r file work as a default ringtone either (iOS 11.2, iPhone 8). His only suggestion was to buy a similar ringtone from the Apple store. Disappointing, since I've used this same ringtone for almost 10 years, and it does work for both the alarm clock and the timer apps. In my humble opinion as a career software engineer, I consider this a bug that Apple is choosing to ignore.

For what it's worth, I've noticed that some ringtones do work, while others do not. All are .m4r files. But what I noticed is that if I try to play one with Quicktime Player on my Mac where my iTunes tones folder is located, I get a message saying that "QuickTime Player is not authorized to play (filename). In order to play this content, open it with iTunes." for the ringtones that don't work. For the ones that do work on my iPhoneX on iOS 11, I am able to play using QuickTime.

LOL....I'm sure the engineer appreciates your support. But I truly doubt this was a money making venture from Apple. I suspect it's more the format of the tones, and going from 32 bit to 64 bit architecture that is causing some (not all) downloaded and purchased tones to not play well with iOS 11. But I do agree with you that spending $1.29 to put this behind me was the best solution for my needs. I figure I spend more just about everyday at Starbucks on coffee.

Merry Ho Ho to everyone.
