ios 11 update phone freezing

Hi, I updated to ios 11 on my 64GB iPhone 6s without any issues. But since doing so my phone has stopped working 3 times. The problem is that the phone freezes and I can't press any apps or open app switcher, it's just dead. I have to do a force restart to get back up running again.

Exact same issue... Wasn't immediate after update, just started a day or two ago. I've had to hard reset 3-4 times now. Several otherwise reliable apps open very slow or more often crash without opening

My iPhone 7 with iOS11.01 is constantly freezing up, not opening applications, hanging at application opening screens, not making bluetooth connections etc etc. Requires constant rebooting - very inconvenient, almost unusable except as phone only. Tried reverting to 10.3.3 but this stripped all my applications and setting as last backups were iOS 11.01, require upgrade to that version to retrieve - quite a catch 22.

About time you fixed this Apple - I have been a loyal Apple customer for many years but this issue is sorely testing my patience. I suspect I am one of many. The longer the wait the more loss of customer goodwill.

Hey i had this problem for the last week, i tried reset & restore but still my iPhone froze. then i noticed a thin white line sometimes appeared at the top of the screen during the freeze. I removed my otter protective case and my iPhone is now all ok - maybe this update ios11 makes changes to the edge of the screen and the case was causing it to freeze.

anyway give it a go. XTEZ

Apple has released iOS 11.0.2 a few hours back.

Release notes are not mentioning anything related to issues we are facing, however, after installing it on my iPhone SE 64 GB, it feels smooth and stable.

- I have not seen any crash yet.

- Music widget on the lock screen came back and working fine.

- Volume buttons are responding.

- I am using same apps that I was using on iOS 10.3.3 and not seeing any issues so far.

- I have not seen iPhone freezing yet after the update.

- Spotify does not stop suddenly the way it used to with iOS 11.0.1

- Have not checked or monitored battery performance yet.

- I have not done any reboot yet.

Will be observing over coming few days, but looks like iOS 11.0.2 is fixing a lot of things under the hood.

My phone was freezing too after the update (ios11). I have decided to reinstall a fresh new version of ios, which took me forever, because I had to reinstall all the apps, including the 2SA which are not automatically transferred. I used the phone for two days and I can say is now freezing way less often than before.

Although the situation is better, I don't like that my phone is still freezing from time to time. Should I take it to the apple store? Those guys are always busy and even when you have an appointment you end up waiting 40 minutes anyway so I would prefer not to if they won't be able to fix the issue anyway.

We have more than 20 iphone and several are blocked with another iOS update that causes a loss of productivity ... Again.

Is there a quality control at Apple? It seems that we are the BETA testers for Apple!

At our next mobile phone renewal, we will switch to Android. Sorry for Apple guys, productivity is the priority in business wold! (in case you do not remember).

I've been using iOS 11 on my test iPhone 7 for every developer beta release. I have restored my iPhone 7 to factory via iTunes 5 times. Apple has given my phone a clean bill of health twice. From the first beta up to and including 11.0.2, I have consistently and continually experienced freezing, random phone restarts, and slow performance (10+ seconds to register a key press or click)

I don't disagree that this could be a phone issue. It's early and I expect the problem, whatever it is, will be resolved. Until then, Apple telling me my phone is fine and the OS is fine leaves me up in the air with an unreliable device. If this were my primary device (still running 10.3.3) I would be more upset.

I am in a family of 7 and we are all experiencing these same issues. we all run different apps and we are all on different model iPhones. This is very frustrating. tried all the usual trouble shooting and nothing is working. Has anyone made an appointment at the Genius Bar in a store? I was going to try that as a last resort.

I had exactly the same issue as vertigoking. I waited the obligatory several days to update my iPhone 6 Plus. It worked fine for several days and then started bricking. I stooped in an Apple Store in the Mall of Georgia and was helpfully informed that I was installing iOS 11 on an older phone and that I should expect that my phone might not perform as quickly. I explained to the Genius that I was aware of that fact but when Apple tells me that my phone is compatible with an update, I should not be having my phone respond so slowly that it is essentially bricked. I skipped over the iPhone 7 knowing that the 10 anniversary model was coming out. I have done hard resets and regular restarts and sometimes they help immediately, sometimes not, but even when they do help, the phone has so far always reverted back to bricked condition. Now I feel like I either have to tolerate this until I can get the iPhone X or get the iPhone 8. This is a choice I should not be faced with. Apple needs to get on top of this...

I’ve been giving it more thought. One thing I noticed was that before ios11 was released there didn’t seem to be the usual load of app updates stating iOS compatibility. The freezing has been becoming less frequent as the more apps have been updated. Since 11.0.2 I’ve not frozen once. Most if not all of my most used apps have been updated.

So what are your engineering credentials? Lawrence has posted his in the past so I have already read those. You say he is dumb so let us know your credentials. And yes, some number of people are experiencing this but that does not make it a global bug and makes it much, much harder to diagnose. Have you contacted AppleCare, or made a Genius Bar appointment at your nearest Apple Store to get your iPhone looked at?

And please provide me with the link where it was verified as a disaster?

I have the same problem too. I have iPhone 6s plus 64 gb and have 26 gb free. After installing ios 11, it wasn't having any problem except for huge battery drain and phone overheating. After installing ios 11.01, my phone is become completely useless that I'm not even able to do soft reset once it freezes. Power button also doesn't work.

This is Apple's worst update ever. If it doesn't get resolved within a week I think 10-20 % of loyal iPhone users will jump to android. As there is no public amittance by Apple whatsoever, I think apple is sleeping. This is just ridiculous how they have forced us to stay in ios 11.0.2 without providing an option to downgrade. We have wasted all our money on this company!
