ios 11 update phone freezing

Hi, I updated to ios 11 on my 64GB iPhone 6s without any issues. But since doing so my phone has stopped working 3 times. The problem is that the phone freezes and I can't press any apps or open app switcher, it's just dead. I have to do a force restart to get back up running again.

I had exactly the same issue as vertigoking. I waited the obligatory several days to update my iPhone 6 Plus. It worked fine for several days and then started bricking. I stooped in an Apple Store in the Mall of Georgia and was helpfully informed that I was installing iOS 11 on an older phone and that I should expect that my phone might not perform as quickly. I explained to the Genius that I was aware of that fact but when Apple tells me that my phone is compatible with an update, I should not be having my phone respond so slowly that it is essentially bricked. I skipped over the iPhone 7 knowing that the 10 anniversary model was coming out. I have done hard resets and regular restarts and sometimes they help immediately, sometimes not, but even when they do help, the phone has so far always reverted back to bricked condition. Now I feel like I either have to tolerate this until I can get the iPhone X or get the iPhone 8. This is a choice I should not be faced with. Apple needs to get on top of this...

I’ve been giving it more thought. One thing I noticed was that before ios11 was released there didn’t seem to be the usual load of app updates stating iOS compatibility. The freezing has been becoming less frequent as the more apps have been updated. Since 11.0.2 I’ve not frozen once. Most if not all of my most used apps have been updated.

So what are your engineering credentials? Lawrence has posted his in the past so I have already read those. You say he is dumb so let us know your credentials. And yes, some number of people are experiencing this but that does not make it a global bug and makes it much, much harder to diagnose. Have you contacted AppleCare, or made a Genius Bar appointment at your nearest Apple Store to get your iPhone looked at?

And please provide me with the link where it was verified as a disaster?

I have the same problem too. I have iPhone 6s plus 64 gb and have 26 gb free. After installing ios 11, it wasn't having any problem except for huge battery drain and phone overheating. After installing ios 11.01, my phone is become completely useless that I'm not even able to do soft reset once it freezes. Power button also doesn't work.

This is Apple's worst update ever. If it doesn't get resolved within a week I think 10-20 % of loyal iPhone users will jump to android. As there is no public amittance by Apple whatsoever, I think apple is sleeping. This is just ridiculous how they have forced us to stay in ios 11.0.2 without providing an option to downgrade. We have wasted all our money on this company!

Hi! I have the same issue. After an update to iOS 11 my iPhone 6s completely freezes 5-7 times a day under the regular use. Only hard reset temporarily helps until the next bug occurrence. "Reset all settings" and "Factory Defaults" through the recovery mode doesn't help to fix this bug as well (with and without restoring my backup). Currently the bug hasn't been fixed in iOS 11.0.2.

My assumption is that iOS 11 doesn't work properly on iPhone 6s with Samsung chip N71AP.

Because there is also another iPhone 6s in my family. That iPhone 6s has TSMC chip (N71MAP). That iPhone 6s has TSMC chip (N71MAP). And that iPhone has no issues with iOS11 at all.

The issue occurs exactly when I open/close different folders. Not in any particular app but exactly in iOS itself when I try to interact with folders on screens.

I feel very strongly that Apple needs to make this right. Not to put too fine a point on this, but when they tell me that an update is compatible with my phone series, and I update my phone, I expect that my phone might not operate as quickly as it did, I expect little quirks, but I don’t expect my phone to be rendered nearly useless. It is apparent that in reading these posts as well as other online forums that this is a widespread problem. As I’m typing this on my iPad, i’m Even noting quirky auto corrects. For instance, notice the e in even is capped. I didn’t do thaT. Nor did I just cap the t in that at the end of the last sentence.

Not only this there are much more in iPhone 8, bought the launch day hurried to be first in city 🙂 and got these as gift...problem is we all are aware any electronic devices runs on software is prone to such things, ONLY thing I Was worried about was Apple folks including the Store, Services and Apple care made me literally run around all over to reach any positive conclusion. They just simply denied the problems initially and forced me to take the device back as it is..Hope am reaching somewhere now! There are some good people in there who understand the reality and help out! Wonder where is Apple Quality going??

Have an iPhone 7 Plus that is useless after OS update 11

Spoke to Apple Support regrettably they had me do a back up and restore. That came no where near solving the problem. I now have a 950 dollar paper weight have lost data, notes, and documents. Have lost money and progress on the few games I played. Kept trying to fix it with the second patch that I lost back up with OS 10. 😞

I no longer trust Apple to fix the problem. I can’t replace the data I lost or the money spent, even on items from iTunes. 😓

I intend to demand a refund for the phone and the lost money....😥. Feel like huge fool for ever trusting Apple.

Out money, no phone, lost information just hate Apple so much now

OK, I tried Tox Rowlang's recommendation to reset Location & Privacy Settings. I can now confirm that I have not had my device freeze since then (48 hours +).

The Music app is still bugged on the lockscreen sometimes, and I've had some problems with Siri not responding; but I guess these are separate bugs, and not ominous signs of an impending freeze.

Give it a try, everyone!

I also have this problem, it will keep freezing if more than a few apps are open, when I play music and lock the screen the music player buttons will go grey and I can't touch them to change a song without unlocking the phone and re-opening the app, also I tried phoning someone today and they couldn't hear me and I couldn't hear them... worst update ever!
