IOS 11 Sound Problem

I have the same problem. iPhone 6. It works for a few calls after resetting.. then the problem comes again where I can’t hear them and they can not hear me on a call. Is there no way of downgrading haha? Hate this update

Okey, updated my phone to 11.0.3. and still experience the same issue. However, this time I have noticed that unlike before when the volume buttons stopped responding (usually the clue, when you need a restart), this time the volume buttons still work and silence on the calls (earpiece, headphones or speakers).

The one thing that I have noticed is that, my regular apps crash and freeze the phone for long as time (like facebook app randomly crashes, Flipboard randomly crashes etc.) all apps are up to date as well :/ Getting little impatience with this...

My phone started doing this same thing tonight. My phone has been working perfectly for the past year that I have had it and now that I updated my software, I am all of a sudden having major problems with it, this being one of them.

I'm having the same issue. I held off on iOS 11 and stuck with 10 for the longest. This weekend my iPad which is on iOS 9, was having trouble with updates because the iOS was a bit outdated I guess? So I decided... poorly.. why not update both of my devices? Now I can't hear when calls are coming in and my alarm won't go of properly.. Guess who was late to work this morning? Thanks Apple..

I'm kicking myself for thinking this update was a good idea.. not to mention I hate this update. Turning off wifi and bluetooth means having to go into your settings to "actually" turn it off? Why?

Is there a fix for this or is it finally time to drop Apple? Cause honestly with each update, and each "new", and "innovative" phone I cringe more and more at my decision to dedicate myself to this company..

- I can't hear the other person, and the other person doesn't hear me.

- If I call through Whatsapp, I have sound.

Even I am facing the same issue after upgrading to ios 11. cannot hear normal phone calls but works fine on whatsapp calling. I have to restart the device over n over again when there's a problem in audio during call. This is weird as it works fine on whatsapp call but cannot hear a thing on phone calls and starts working upon restarting. This has to be something with the software n has to be fixed asap!!!

Good to know 11.0.3 still doesn't fix things.

I'm also having problems with crashes and long freezes. Sometimes the phone unfreezes itself after 3-4 minutes, other times it needs a soft reset.

This is pretty crazy. Have never seen an update this bad before.

Skype & SkypeOut to a normal phone is fine.

With normal calls, I get no ringing or audio.

This is all with circuit-switched fallback (CSFB) from 4G to 3G to make calls. My carrier doesn’t support VoLTE on unlocked iPhones

This happened again today.

Last night I had to hard reset my iPhone, because I needed to make some phone calls (it sounds hilarious just like that)

I was able to make all my 3 or 4 calls.

This morning I could not connect phone calls again. So, it works for just few hours apparently.

It started with 11.0.0 and I thought it would be fixed with the first update, but the issue persists after 3 updates.

I'm not sure whether Apple do not know how to fix it, or they simply ignore the issue considering it low priority.

ps. I've also tried to disable 4G, but it did not work.

After updating to iOS 11 I stopped being able to hear phone calls and caller couldn't hear me. Described it as sounding robotic before going completely silent. Took to Apple Store and the "genius" ran diagnostics and confirmed it was a software issue but could not provide a solution other than to scrap a perfectly good phone and pay for a new one. Apple should be embarrassed they have phones that don't make phone calls because of their own software. This will be my last Apple product for sure!

Fingers crossed – but this issue hasn't happened with me again for a bit (it used to be twice daily +). May've been an inadvertent fix via 11.0.3 upgrade, but wonder also if there was a clash with another app – such as WhatsApp, that can use audio for calls too? And this may've upgraded in the meantime. Famous last words of course... 🙂

Exact same issue on my iPhone 6s on iOS 11.1 (I have latest beta version installed too)

Calls connect fine but then at random intervals during the call the line goes completely silent on my end. I believe the other person can still hear me. After about 6-10 second, the sound comes back.

This is not a fault with the earpiece. The same happens on speaker.

Restarting the phone fixes the issue for a couple of days then it comes back.

Thanks for the workaround, but hard reset the phone just because Apple fu**ed up good is a RIDICULOUS workaround. Having to reconfigure the iPhone after the reset is aPITA. This company is going full downhill, my next phone won't be an Iphone, that's for sure!

We might be into something here. Indeed, I also have Tinder and noticed that the Tinder app is freezing and turning the phone a little hot after I upgraded to iOS 11.

Not only that, after I use it for a while and go do other things in other apps while it’s running in the background, I noticed that the system feels laggy.

I will try deleting it.
