iPhone not getting text notifications

I looked up this chain as I stopped getting text notifications yesterday - no banners on screen and no ping. I have an iPhone 6 now running 11.1.2 Looking at the various suggestions I realised that the 'Do not Disturb' feature had been activated. Now I know what the little moon icon means! I have no idea how this setting was activated; as a precaution I have also deactivated the No Notification While Driving feature. So far at least one or both of these steps has done the trick - at any rate for me. As I have had the phone for almost two years and this problem has never occurred before, I have to assume that IOS upgrades have somehow triggered the situation.

I have this problem also on my iPhone 7 Plus. Strangely, notifications push through to my watch (a Pebble), which is set to show notifications only if they hit the lock screen of my iPhone.

I called AppleCare and they unhelpfully suggested I reset all settings or do a fresh OS install. They were not interested in the fact that over a thousand people have reported having this issue on the Apple discussion forums. Hopefully this will be fixed soon.

Turning off Bluetooth via Settings app fixed the problem. Unfortunately, this makes my Apple Watch pretty useless aside from being able to tell me the time as it is no longer connected to my phone. Apple please fix ASAP

Locked simply means the screen is locked. It doesn't require a passcode. Whenever you press the lock button to turn off the screen, your phone is locked. You have to press home button twice or raise to wake and press home button once to unlock.

On the original topic. I am also randomly not getting text or iMessage notifications on the lock screen. Seems to have gotten worse since last 11.1.2 update. Sometimes there will be a sound, but nothing appears on screen.

The same thing is happening with my 7 plus. None of my notifications alert me. I have an Apple Watch, and the notifications don’t even alert me on there unless I turn it on manually. I can’t turn Bluetooth off because of my watch. Apple please fix this.

I just reported it officially to apple through their site. It’s so frustrating that they just say reset your phone or whatever. Clearly this is a major problem for multiple people. They don’t seem to really care. At least acknowledge it’s a problem. I also tried all the suggested fixes with no results. It’s also frustrating that the same useless fixes are suggested, when Apple has to know it’s a bug.

Not sure if everyone found an answer to this problem yet, but I deleted all of my Widgets (what you see when you swipe right on the unlocked home screen), except a couple I really wanted to keep (Find Friends and My Verizon Data). Now, it's been several days and I get notifications and the clock on my locked screen! (haven't been able to keep that working for more than a few hours or so until now).

Thanks to someone mentioning some widget that they thought was the problem. I had tons of widgets, deleted/inactivated all but 2, and now everything works!

This is not some little bug that needs to be fixed. This is a major problem, and for Apple not to fix it is unacceptable. Apple products are the most expensive out there. As customers, we deserve better then this. I own a mini iPad and an IPad Air 2 and an Apple Watch and an iPod. With the iOS 11 update, i get no messages on my iPads and only once in awhile on my watch. I’ve tried everything. I made an appointment at the Apple store, and they couldn’t fix it. In my opinion, Apple should give us a refund if they aren’t willing to fix this problem. The only reason I don’t switch to Android is because I own too many Apple products. I wish I’d never bought the first Apple product. I had an Apple TV, but it would never sync so I got rid of it and got an Amazon, which hasn’t given me any trouble.

I also am having this issue with my iPad Pro. Just started happening yesterday. I have iOS 11.2 installed. Not happening on my iphone 7 or apple watch. Needs to be fixed - factory reset is not an acceptable answer. Almost laughable! I will keep watching this string. I also can't disable bluetooth due to watch.

Have you seen how many of us have this problem?

I got it working again after turning all blue tooth and do not disturb settings off, turning accessibility flashing on (which I can’t leave on as it’s distracting in meetings) and switching the phone off and on several times.

It worked for a week. It’s stopped working again.

Your response is insulting as is Apple’s. They have a major bug. It’s much more serious to usability of their phones than most things they resolved in the last big fix release. Yet it’s being ignored

I dont know if you are still having a problem with regards to not receiving alerts when a text message comes in?

I found that it was only happening with texts sent from certain contacts. I checked all of my settings etc just like everyone else and then discovered the problem.

I delete most of my text messages by swiping to the left. Unknown to me, Apple have added another toggle to the swipe left function, that toggle is a "Hide Alerts" function coloured in purple. I have obviously hit that toggle when swiping left instead of the red delete toggle.

This has then silenced any future texts from that contact - hence no alert and no lock screen notification.

How did I find out which contacts I had affected? I sent them a text message and then clicked on the i at the top right of the message screen. This then showed if I had "hide alerts" for that contact on or off.

Still not fixed. I have the new iPhone X running 11.1.2 and everything is set as it s supposed to be... Frustrating... Never hear a message come in. Yes, I did discover the button of "hide alerts" that was turned on for only one contact. Click the I in the circle at the very top of the contact on their message 'page' and there it is... But I checkd all my contacts and this was only turned on for one. No idea how it got turned on either.

Great find. Sorts my phone out too but any news with when this will be fixed? Or will it be fixed. Luckily I have an Apple Watch so I feel the notification on my wrist but without that I’d miss so many notifications/txts. Luckily it doesn’t silence calls.

same here - if I did not have my "watchie' I'd never know there were messages - and that only because of the vibrate. I have a new iPhone X with 11.2 and no joy. F|Don't tell me this is not a bug. This is my 3rd iPhone and I've been in computers of all kinds for 30 years and YES it is plugged in!

FOUND THE FIX!!!!

youre now about to feel as silly as I did after talking to the Apple genius guy.

take your Apple Watch off. Wha la. Problem resolved. You will now get txt audio notifications on your phone while on the locked screen.

when you have your watch on it notifies you on your watch and turns off audio notifications on your phone. You can turn this off but you lose health settings on watch and also wrist detection.
