iPhone not getting text notifications

Just offering a "me too". Turning off Bluetooth in the slide-up control center fixes the problem temporarily. Can even re-enable Bluetooth and get normal notification function. Unsure of how long this fix lasts.

Wondering if it's a function of me having Messages open on my MacBook Pro (10.12.6) as well as iOS 11.0.3.

It definitely has to do with bluetooth. When I disable bluetooth, then my notifications come back. Apple: That is not an acceptable fix. I need to have bluetooth enabled and still be able to hear when I get a text. Please fix ASAP!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I tried all the Bluetooth options and turned off do not disturb but none of the messages from some contacts showed up. Eventually I went through my messages contact by contact and in the conversation there is a small i in the top right hand corner. When I clicked on this alerts were turned off, turned it back on and all messgage alerts now being received. Hope this helps 🙂

Apple has still not fixed this in 11.3.1. Bluetooth on kills getting message notifications on lock screen. As other respondent noted, turning Bluetooth off in control centre also doesn’t work properly. So 2 bugs for Apple to fix.

I had the same problem of not getting notifications for just one person. It took a long time too resolve. Right swoosh on message from this contact. Deselect “Hide Alerts”. Ironically there is no other place to select or deselect this option. It does not show up in properties for this contact.

I ran the updat for 11.0.1 and i was able to get it working again. Do not disturb was turned on even though I never turn it on. Could that be something that is automatically selected?

Try going to General/Reset/Reset Network settings. This worked for me.

You will need to put your network passwords in again after restarting.

be aware NONE of this works ALL the time but seems to get back on track with a reboot

Turning bluetooth off completely in the settings allows the messages on the lock screen to chime; otherwise they are silent.

Yes, notifications were going to Apple Watch bypassing phone. Just changed settings to get notificaction on phone

Reset Network Settings Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings > Confirm resetting.

Similar issue on iPhone 6. I get the notifications to pop up on my lock screen, but they either disappear immediately or after the screen shuts off. So if I am not looking at my phone right when I get the text, I have no way of knowing when I check the lock screen unless I open the phone.

I thought 11.01 would fix the issue but it didn't. I have tried resetting my phone several times; sometimes it fixes the issue for an hour maybe, but then the issue comes back. I have noticed sometimes the texts will stay on the lock screen if I also have other notifications that were already there before.

I called Apple today; the man I spoke to said this is the first he is hearing of this issue and his recommendation was to factory reset my phone....I don't really want to do that since I know it is an IOS 11 issue.

I deleted the conversations on my phone.

I disabled notifications for iMessage rebooted and re-enabled

I changed silence mode to be “when phone unlocked” instead of always.

Upgraded to IOS 11.03

I have discovered that since installing iOS 11, if bluetooth is enabled, I get no sound on the lock screen. I use a FitBit so BT is always enabled. My FitBit buzzes with the incoming text, but not the phone. This is a problem, a bug that certainly needs to be fixed. Other annoyances since this upgrade include horrible lag time and frequent screen freezes on apps that have worked perfectly before. My battery drains faster now too. I regret doing the upgrade. My iPad wants me to upgrade from 10.3.3 to iOS 11.0.3 (which is on my phone) and I am holding off for now.
