Email slow to load in mail app with iOS 11

After updating to iOS 11 my emails are taking a long time to load after they come in. The preview shows, but when I select the new message it just says loading for a long time. I am even having to leave the message and come back a few times.

This is on my exhange account with push.

Anyone else seeing this?

I‘ve gotten the same issue since I’ve given another try to Mail.

I was using Spark before but I wanted to use Mail again as it is a native application and as Airmail wasn’t as good as expected...

I had an Exchange account, 2 gmail accounts and an iCloud account... I‘ve given up with Mail now since Airmail is back on track and is way more reliable and fast than the  Mail.... What a shame!

I use an iPad Pro (for my work), iPhone SE and Watch Series 2 with always the last iOS iteration... Airmail shows all emails even on the small screen of the Watch. Which isn’t the case of Mail...

And when the boss of Mail leaves this company for Readdle, what does it say about improvements pertaining to Mail?

I’m afraid nothing!!!!

Argh! This has been happening to me sporadically for a month. I’ve lost 4 hours after troubleshooting with Sprint, Spectrum, Netgear (I even got coerced and suckered into buying their extended care program) and the Apple phone helpline. I know it’s an Apple thing because it happens concurrently with my iPhone 6 (with a brand new battery) and my iPad Air 2. I tear my hair out and wail and then suddenly it’s all back. I’m learning to become zen and patient until it magically resumes, or I move to the iMac. Is this part of Apple’s benevolent slowing down of older devices?

Yes, I still have the same problem also. After three fruitless phone calls with Apple Customer Care, who simply recommended the same old fixes ( reboot, back up / restore / delete Mail App and reinstall etc) I was no further on. I was even told that the problem was probably a weak wifi signal even though download speed from router to iPad was 54Mbps !

I then stumbled upon the App called Email-Edison. Perfect ! The icon even looks similar to Apple Mail but, more importantly, emails appear instantly. It is very quick and the user interface is clean and friendly, especially for those of us familiar with the Apple Mail App.

Until Apple fix their problem I will stay with this. Suggest you try it.

Apple clearly has their heads buried in the sand about this Mail issue that is affecting thousands of users! And they lack professional courtesy by not participating in THEIR own forums! It's sad to hear Apple Care DOESN'T care one bit😠 I'm a 30+ year Windows IT guy who recently bought his first Apple computer (iMac), mistakenly thinking Apple was such a high end company, both hardware, software and support. Guess I was dead wrong, as they have clearly demonstrated their inabilities when it comes to support! I'm guessing they are so arrogant that unless a problem reaches crisis proportions, they simply deny that there is a problem🤔 I'd love for someone from Apple to set the record straight, but have little hope they'll ever do the right thing☹ Apple - you're not going to retain customers, or get new ones, using whatever "strategy" you're exhibiting with this Mail problem...

Forgive me if I may have misunderstood your question.

I have loaded the Email-Edison App onto both my iPhone and iPad. Incoming are displayed on both devices and if I create and send a message one device it is automatically displayed on the other. Similarly, if I delete an email from one device it automatically deletes it from the other. There is no such app for the iMac ( not that I can see anyway ) but in any case, Mail is working fine on my iMac. It’s only since iOS 11 that the email problems started to appear on my iPhone and iPad.

Regarding your buffering issue, are you referring to the time it takes to download the Email- Edison App ? It was very quick to download on the iPad but quite slow on the iPhone. Nevertheless, it was accomplished and all is running well.

Good news about the iPhone/iPad sync but in a perfect world (pre-this problem), if I deleted an email on my devices, it would also delete on my iMac (which is not wifi and working fine). My buffering issue is that IF the emails even download to my devices, when I try to open them they buffer. And buffer. And buffer. So, here I sit at the iMac. I just called my Apple tech from my last ticket and left a hysterical voicemail. We shall see.

I can assure you that if you delete an email from your iPhone or iPad, using the Mail-Edison app, that same email will also be automatically deleted from your iMac mailbox. Similarly, if you delete an email from your iMac that same email will also be deleted from iPad and IPhone.

Good luck with your buffering issues. I wish I could help but, frankly, I wouldn't know where to start !
