After updating to iOS 11 my emails are taking a long time to load after they come in. The preview shows, but when I select the new message it just says loading for a long time. I am even having to leave the message and come back a few times.

This is on my office 365 account with push.

Here, here. Absolutely correct. Can’t believe Apple have stuck this on us. As Outlook works so well I’ll now consider Android phones. I used to stick up for Apple and say “it just works” - but it doesn’t anymore 😤

It is absolutely ridiculous. After upgrading to 11.0.3 on iphone 6, my email has become like the way we use to read emails over dial-up 20 years ago. Thanks to apple for taking us back to stone-age days again.

This is a classic Apple "trick" by upgrading to latest OS, you basically make any our existing device useless and force yourself to buy a new one and they don't care about customer sentiment because they always have more innocents following into their trap.

I am putting an end to this for ever. I am never buying iPhone anymore because I don't see Apple caring about care about their usability any more (which has gotten only worse after demise of Steve Jobs and being run by monkeys who are only doing things to please Wall Street to beat #s).

Wow, this transition from Apple Mail app to Outlook for iOS app has been more difficult than I expected. Now my Apple Phone app does not contain any Contacts. I would have thought it would link to the Contacts (aka "People") in Outlook app, no? Back on my computer I Categorized all my many contacts and moved them from their sub folders to the main Contacts folder in Outlook, so that they would all show in the Outlook for iOS app (which they do). But why aren't then showing under Phone->Contacts on my iPhone? Arghhh

Have you left the contacts tab on in accounts and password>exchange account?

I have this on but mail tab off, as not to confuse this is turning the iOS mail app off and leave the contacts tab on. I then see contacts in both.

Yes, in iOS Settings applet, Contacts is ON under Settings->Accounts & Passwords->Accounts <my Exchange account>. Mail is slid to the ON position too. At this point I'm confused as to exactly what this particular settings page does/means? Is it saying what Exchange folders to sync into the iOS's central database of contacts, calendars, email etc? Not sure it would have a database of emails, but Contacts, from what I read, are controlled by the iOS. I'll try a power cycle on my iPhone - can't hurt 🙂

I called Apple Care a while ago - they are in total denial. While they do admit to slowness problems with their Mail app, they think it got totally fixed as of iOS 11.0.1. I told them I went from 10.x to 11.0.3 and encountered this problem. They said they were not aware of any slowness issues with Mail after 11.0.1. I told them I could email them a link to this post in THEIR forums, but they were not interested 😟 Told them there were hundreds of similarly affected users reporting this issue in ONE post alone. They didn't care to be informed 😟

It will be good to get some technical magazine writers (if anyone has good contacts, please help), write about this IOS 11.* upgrade madness and that is one sure way to get their attention as their execs will get their support staff to wake up.

@tekie70 : Exactly what I was thinking... After such a long time without fix, it's time for this to come out in the press. I'm pretty sure this would speed up the resolution.

For those who use outlook app, well it's good for you if you can, but as I already wrote previously here, there are some privacy concern about this app, since all your emails and contact are downloaded and stored to Microsoft Servers before going to your phone. It's definitely not a problem for you if you use a microsoft email server anyway, but for some companies that host their own mail server and need confidentiality, it's a leak and a potential threat.

Well said smitty I have the same issues have tried all sorts of fixes nothing works. Who on earth are the muppets at Apple who send out this rubbish obviously without testing. How much time is wasted by us the customer trying to find our way round these updates?

Prior to the latest upgrade I was not experiencing any problems. Now even simple emails can take up to ten minutes to load and my phones battery life is much reduced. I used to get a good 18 hours out of one charge now I get about 12 hours of use.

Am I imagining this?

The hours I spend trying to get the iPad back to how it was before almost any update is infuriating. (That’s putting it politely).

Do Apple have a list of known big issues they are working to resolve - at least we could then “sit back“ and wait.

I think Apple is too arrogant to maintain a list of known bugs. But it sure would be an effective way to communicate with their PAYING customers! When I called Apple Care and spoke with an agent, they said this slow email issue was a problem in 11.0.0, but that it had been "fixed" in 11.0.1 and they no longer considered it an issue/bug. I'm not sure how many thousands of complaints it takes to get them to even investigate issues like this, let alone consider it to be a "bug"? IMO the bigger problem here is the lack of communication about known bugs, issues under investigation and ETAs for fixes!! Why not have a section on these Apple Community forums where Apple shares this type of invaluable information? I know, I'm dreaming 🙀 Apple is probably just too proud to even use the word "bug"...

No surprise, as Apple is in denial about this🙁. And they are not good at providing info about all the bugs each release addresses. I updated my iPhone 6 yesterday to latest 11.1.2, and all they tell you it addresses is 2 uninteresting problems - and they offer a link to some security policy... Why not just provide a link to a comprehensive list of what each release fixes? That way I could review the list, see that “slow Mail” isn’t addressed, and skip the update. Does anybody know if Apple provides any detailed and comprehensive release notes?

Same problem on iOS devices. Emails take 30 mins to an hr to turn up in the inbox (Apple mail) then the content seems to take for ever to appear. I have to go to my clunky old 1998 MAC Pro desktop to see latest emails. fortunatly I can’t update that old Mac to the latest OS. Also calendar events are no longer quickly sync’d. This just reminds of the way Microsoft used to be, computer crashes being just the norm, and the reason people switched on mass to Apple. Unfortunately for some of us our iPad & iPhone are our offices, it’s our work, as a journalist, I can’t afford to miss emails. I’m looking at a Samsung as a backup.
