Email slow to load in mail app with iOS 11

Bit late to this party, but I got tired of waiting for the apple mail app to load my emails so I downloaded the Yahoo app (as I have a yahoo email account) and just use that instead. It's super quick.

I have been on the phone with Apple support the last couple of nights trying to get this sorted because I’m so sick and tired of it. Was dealing with a very nice young girl last night we have factory reset my phone and my mail seems to be coming in fine now, next step is to restore from my last back up last night and see if the glitch comes back, she did go online and read this entire thread while I was on hold and also checked to see if there was any info posted from their development team ( which I don’t think there was anything surprise ) the most promising tech-support yet,

Don’t waste your time with certificates. That only helped a very tiny portion of affected users. The Apple Mail app is unfortunately become bug ridden🙁. And Apple doesn’t have the decency or professionalism to respond in their OWN forums here! Instead, look for an alternative app like Microsoft’s Outlook for iOS...

11.0.3 just rolled out. Hopefully this helps put a permanent end to these email problems.

Couple of things to try:

Try deleting you draft emails

Disconnect all the apps connected to gmail.

Try not to use Mac Mail for this test.

Another temporary workaround is to use other 3rd party apps on Apps store. I tried "myMail" and so far is working better although the UI is not so ideal for me.

try doing hard reset (except for email slowness), holding right-side button and home-button together (sometimes seems to help).

did you do the update from this past saturday? It says it addresses some mail problems. I am doing it now!

Agree with all above. Have called it quits with native mail app and have adopted Outlook with no thoughts of going back. Unfortunate really

If you look at the folders pane on the left do you have a folder showing called "Unread"?

I have this problem also. If I close mail twice, it usually works for the moment.

...And Mail App works again. No problem.

It seems that 11.2.2 fixed the issue afterall?

I have exact the same issue since all betas of ios 11. Now I am on public ios 11.0.1 and the issue remains. I am using Exchange (with push) and Gmail accounts - on both I have this issue. I see email coming, I see preview of it (2 lines as I set), but when trying to open email it takes a looong time for the message body to load. Very, very annoying. What's interesting it doesn't happen all the time. Sometimes emails are loading quickly, but in general there is an issue with the speed of loading emails in ios 11.

What ended up making Mail work properly for me was using the gmail and yahoo app. Turn in the notifications for both. Notifications would come in on time via those 2 apps and eventually for some Mail app started to receive emails on time too. Hopefully those are the email accounts you have.

I am going absolutely bonkers. Since the 11.0.3. update, my MAIL application receives emails but can take upwards of 5 minutes to open message of a few KB. It doesn’t matter if I’m on my Wireless Data Network, or Home WiFi. I have 6 email accounts linked to the MAIL app and they all have the same problem. I’ve even deleted and re-added some of them; to no avail.

And before anyone asks, I have rebooted my phone half a dozen times and killed the MAIL application more than a dozen times.
