Email slow to load in mail app with iOS 11

After updating to iOS 11 my emails are taking a long time to load after they come in. The preview shows, but when I select the new message it just says loading for a long time. I am even having to leave the message and come back a few times.

This is on my exhange account with push.

Anyone else seeing this?

I think Apple is too arrogant to maintain a list of known bugs. But it sure would be an effective way to communicate with their PAYING customers! When I called Apple Care and spoke with an agent, they said this slow email issue was a problem in 11.0.0, but that it had been "fixed" in 11.0.1 and they no longer considered it an issue/bug. I'm not sure how many thousands of complaints it takes to get them to even investigate issues like this, let alone consider it to be a "bug"? IMO the bigger problem here is the lack of communication about known bugs, issues under investigation and ETAs for fixes!! Why not have a section on these Apple Community forums where Apple shares this type of invaluable information? I know, I'm dreaming 🙀 Apple is probably just too proud to even use the word "bug"...

No surprise, as Apple is in denial about this🙁. And they are not good at providing info about all the bugs each release addresses. I updated my iPhone 6 yesterday to latest 11.1.2, and all they tell you it addresses is 2 uninteresting problems - and they offer a link to some security policy... Why not just provide a link to a comprehensive list of what each release fixes? That way I could review the list, see that “slow Mail” isn’t addressed, and skip the update. Does anybody know if Apple provides any detailed and comprehensive release notes?

Same problem on iOS devices. Emails take 30 mins to an hr to turn up in the inbox (Apple mail) then the content seems to take for ever to appear. I have to go to my clunky old 1998 MAC Pro desktop to see latest emails. fortunatly I can’t update that old Mac to the latest OS. Also calendar events are no longer quickly sync’d. This just reminds of the way Microsoft used to be, computer crashes being just the norm, and the reason people switched on mass to Apple. Unfortunately for some of us our iPad & iPhone are our offices, it’s our work, as a journalist, I can’t afford to miss emails. I’m looking at a Samsung as a backup.

I have tried turning off Siri (Settings--Mail--Siri & Search) so that Mail isn't constantly being indexed. I did the same for Contacts and Calendars. Spotlight on the Mac OS had a similar issue several years ago, and turning it off helped, so I figured I'd give it a try here with Siri.

To me, it has made a significant difference, but I only did it 45 minutes ago, and I've been on one WiFi network the whole time. If others try this and spend time on LTE and a variety of WiFi networks and see a difference, let me know.

I have same issues on all my email accounts yahoo, gmail, Ameritech, they all take forever to low and just says loading and it takes like way too long. I try rebootink iPhone recover from Ituens and also try on a different version iPhone and same issues on all device. They need to fix this since so many people having same probleM. Apple support was not very interested or helpful in this matter. They told its not there proble. How sad 😢

In response to BobfromCardiff’s suggestion to wait for iOS 11.1.2, it doesn’t help! I have the exact same slow email problem (10+ minutes to check for new emails). iOS 11 *****.

My interim solution was to download the Outlook app and use that. But it’s painful because Apple made me use 2-factor authentication for my iCloud account since Outlook is not an Apple app. They say it’s about security, but I feel it’s just another way of disadvantaging non-Apple apps. Still, since the Apple mail app ***** so badly (especially with iOS 11), I had no other choice.

Get your act together, Apple. Your own mail app should work seamlessly with your iOS!!
