Voice control problem over bluetooth

Hi,

after updating to IOS 11 i've lost ability to dial contacts throught voice control over bluetooth devices. We don't have siri in our language, but voice control worked well when I wanted to call someone (when I'm driving a car or motorcycle).

When I engage voice control without bt device connected it works. (I say "call Jane", and phone says "calling jane").

When I try to do the same in my car voice control enages but doesn't do anything. (I say "call Jane" and phone just makes two beeps and disconnects. Those beeps are different from beeps that are made when no action is made after activating voice control.) Symptom is like it hears what I'm saying but does nothing.

The key for anyone posting in this thread is to contact the device manufacturer and find out when/if they will be releasing a firmware update to be compatible with iOS 11. Just because you have the latest firmware doesn't mean you have a version that is compatible with iOS 11 and has been tested. And no, this is not just an Apple/iOS issue. If you search Android forums the exact same thing happens on updates for Android devices as well. The exact same instructions are reiterated there in that you must contact the device manufacturer. Very rarely will an update to iOS or Android's OS will fix these type of issues. It's up to the device manufacturer.

Yes & no.

At Apple's request, I've uploaded over a half gig of sysdiagnose files including data from a Bluetooth Logging Profile. The Plantronics devices I've used worked fine with an iPhone 5, 6+, and 8+ using Classic Voice Control and Siri. Once the 6+ and 8+ were updated to iOS 11, and their subsequent betas, Classic Voice Control disappeared. There is also a recent, well-documented issue with Voice Control in iTunes. Engineers like to finger-point, so these issues are never resolved in a timely manner.

So far, I have tried EIGHT different BT sets of all kinds, including a Powerbeats Wireless 3!

As you seem to be a registered beta tester, can you please notify Apple about the issue?

I have just now uploaded the sysdiagnose files from my iphone 7 to the bug reporter.

I'll update the forum if I hear any response or feedback.

same problem, I contacted Apple Support, I was able to make it work by voice dialing direct through the phone but not the bluetooth. This broke around iOS 10 somewhere.

eh, no, this just turn on Siri, doesn't fix anything rlated to voice control.

Yes it is the only feature affected. But it is a real issue, because siri does not work well in every country.

A agree 100%. Apple own liability of any injuries orDeaths. I do believe the will fix it. When? I suspect a working patch in 4 to 6 months.
