Voice control problem over bluetooth

Hi,

after updating to IOS 11 i've lost ability to dial contacts throught voice control over bluetooth devices. We don't have siri in our language, but voice control worked well when I wanted to call someone (when I'm driving a car or motorcycle).

When I engage voice control without bt device connected it works. (I say "call Jane", and phone says "calling jane").

When I try to do the same in my car voice control enages but doesn't do anything. (I say "call Jane" and phone just makes two beeps and disconnects. Those beeps are different from beeps that are made when no action is made after activating voice control.) Symptom is like it hears what I'm saying but does nothing.

The key for anyone posting in this thread is to contact the device manufacturer and find out when/if they will be releasing a firmware update to be compatible with iOS 11. Just because you have the latest firmware doesn't mean you have a version that is compatible with iOS 11 and has been tested. And no, this is not just an Apple/iOS issue. If you search Android forums the exact same thing happens on updates for Android devices as well. The exact same instructions are reiterated there in that you must contact the device manufacturer. Very rarely will an update to iOS or Android's OS will fix these type of issues. It's up to the device manufacturer.

...and, like all the others, I experience this persistent problem. From iOS 11 onwards.

My trusted (old, but stil functioning) Cardo motorcycle helmet kit ceased passing voice commands to my iPhone 6s - that is to say: the commands seemed to arrive allright but led to nothing.

Today I replaced the Cardo with a brand new Sena 10s, which achieved exactly nothing in resolving the problem. Voice control works fine on the 6s when it operates on itself. When connected to the USB device each command arrives (the voice graph on the iPhone corresponds nicely with the spoken command) but only leads to a vague beep. End of story.

So, Apple, when is someone gonna dive into this and bring back the full functionality that was there up until iOS 11?

Is anybody listening at all?

I've had this issue on my iPhone 6 since I updated to iOS 11. I've gone through 5 senior advisors and 4 months before they agreed to upgrade my phone to the 6S, and guess what - I'm STILL having the problem. I've gone through all of the steps as well, had my car system updated, and have gotten to the point of needing to replace the entire radio unit in my car in hopes that it will help. Apple senior advisors were of no help, one sent diagnostics to the engineers but didn't actually put the problem into the request, so essentially, they lost the log files. All of the senior advisors also told me that I'm the only person with this problem. I feel your frustration, and hopefully, one day, Apple might actually fix this problem. Until then, I might just have to change platforms.

Good luck, and thanks for posting!

It’s obvious that Apple tech support is on par with the quality of their products! Unfortunately for those of us that have been taken advantage of for an extended period of time by Apple..., we realize that quality,up to date technology and tech support are doled out like diamonds!!! Just enough to string us along and still charge a premium for “new” but really antiquated subpar crap. Al least with diamonds you have something of value, Apple willingly supplies us with as many useless paperweights we are willing to pay for. Save your money, because one bad Apple does spoil the bunch ;)

I have the same problem.

I just bought an Iphone 6s 32 gb with Ios version is 11.2.6.

I discovered that the old voice control does not work with my Bluetooth car stereo, a Sony, mex-n4100bt, and

also with any other of my Bluetooth devices.

When i switch to siri mode, the voice control is working fine with all my Bluetooth devices.

With my old iphone 5, ios 10.3.3 everything worked fine and i was very happy.

My big issue is that Siri is not available at my Language, Greek and it is a matter of safety during driving, while with my old iphone 5 i use a lot the voice control to make calls from my contacts and now it is not possible.

Is Apple going to do something about it.

I’ve been using iphone since 3GS and everything works fine till this IOS 11 crap.

Voice control is a must when you use a bluetooth device. Since 11 it’s not working at all because all i can do is to answer a call.

11.3 camed out and didnt fix it.

It’s time to switch back to android. Thats for sure.

For all this years i’ve been a satisficed user and when anyone asked me what cell he should buy - there was only one answer.

Not anymore.

Looking for 4” android. Voice control works there. I’ve already checked this.
