Voice control problem over bluetooth

Hi,

after updating to IOS 11 i've lost ability to dial contacts throught voice control over bluetooth devices. We don't have siri in our language, but voice control worked well when I wanted to call someone (when I'm driving a car or motorcycle).

When I engage voice control without bt device connected it works. (I say "call Jane", and phone says "calling jane").

When I try to do the same in my car voice control enages but doesn't do anything. (I say "call Jane" and phone just makes two beeps and disconnects. Those beeps are different from beeps that are made when no action is made after activating voice control.) Symptom is like it hears what I'm saying but does nothing.

It may not be a proper way to fix the voice command problem, however it works for me before Apple actually fix the bug.

1) go to "setting" and choose "Siri & Search";

2) Turn ON "Listen for "Hey Siri" " and follow the instruction;

3) Turn OFF "Press Home for Siri";

4) Turn ON "Allow Siri When Locked.

After the above set up, you should able to make a call via Bluetooth (Siri), however data plan is required.

I believe there is a conflict between voice command / Siri, I look forward Apple would fix it soon

Version 11.4 didn’t fix it. My guess, it’s not even on their radar.

Thanks for your info, anypats.

Maybe I've not searched deeply enought on so many forums where this issue is discussed. It´s the first time that I know about someone not having problems with Voice Control over Bluetooth after iOS 11.

Just to be clear. Can you confirm please:

You don't have problems on yous Honda Bluetooth connection using Voice Control?
It's really Voice Control that you have tested or use and not Siri?
I'ts your phone an iPhone with the iOS 11.0 or later updated?
Jaillbreaked?
Can you voice dialling with Voice Control over your Honda's Bluetooth with th command "Call [contact_name]"?
Can you make Voice Control, on or off a bluetooth connection, to play musics from tour music library when use commands like: "play [artist_name]", "play album [album_name]" or "play music [music_name]"?

thank You for Your reply. I've already did points 1,2,4,5 before writing here. Problem occurs on every hands-free device I have.

Right now I've tried point 3 - still the same. Also I did the same test on my friends iPhone SE with iOS 11 - it's the same problem.

Apple broke something in iOS 11 and did not make enough tests.

I have the exact same problem. Running iOS 11 on an iPhone 7. Voice control has stopped over BT to a Kenwood DPX-5000BT running latest firmware (v1.36). Everything else is working fine (Calls, Phone-books etc.)

I too have the same problem with a Jabra Freeway. I've dropped the bluetooth device, restarted the phone, and paired to the device after resetting the device. Submitted problem to Jabra while using iPhone 6 running iOS 11.0.2, problem still exists with 11.0.3. Also updated firmware from 5.5.0 to 5.7.0 on Jabra Freeway to see if that fixes the problem - not. No issues with an iPhone 6 still running iOS 10.3.3.

BT interface to music seems to work, i.e., can play, skip, stop. Problem is with entering voice control (home button hold action) via bluetooth. The phone ends the connection before I can even issue a "call" command.

Have the very same issue using iPhone 7 on iOS 11.0.2. The Bluetooth radio in my car used to work perfectly but now the calling button invokes the Voice Control screen, and it never starts “listening” and shuts down.

It’s a major issue :/

First tier Apple support escalated my case to a Sr Engineer on 10/5/17. There "might" be a problem with iOS. Replicated the problem, captured diagnostic logs, and sent to Apple for analysis. Will provide an update next week once results are available.

I've got the same issue with SE. The only workaround so far is to dial directly from the list, then the call goes through speaker.

It just p*sses me off that these clowns released the update without testing it thoroughly and screwed up a perfectly functioning handset. In addition to this issue, An 11.0.3 download stuck in the message "Downloading" for quite some time now...

Same issue here. My iPhone 7 Plus, Bluetooth voice commands worked before IOS 11, now they will not work with my cars Bluetooth.

If I restart my phone while the Bluetooth is connected, voice commands work but next time you reconnect it will not work.

I Think all the engeneers have wi-fi on-the-go, allways using siri, and don’t give a f.... for those who use voice control. Now I cannot use my phone for his MAIN purpose. Can I come back with a good lawyer if this disfunction causes a car accident? Or should I throw my phone on the highway and (definitivly) go on with Samsung?

I have submitted multiple bug reports to Apple, upgraded my Plantronics headset to their 5200 Series, and updated the firmware on the headset, all to no avail. This looks to be an issue with iOS firmware; I've seen mention of it in several threads and forums outside of Apple. I have an appointment with a Genius this week in Chicago and I'm hoping they can provide some answers. Siri is fine for voice dialing but, depending upon your WiFi or cellular connection, it can be very laggy. That's why I prefer classic voice control.

Here's a summary of my issue and the steps I've taken. Any of this sound familiar?😉

• I have two Bluetooth headsets, both pair with my 8+.

• Both can access Siri. Neither can dial numbers using Voice Control.

Voice Control will work, with Bluetooth turned OFF, without Bluetooth headsets, when home button is depressed.

Troubleshooting Headsets

• Cycled headsets on/off
• Reset headsets to factory defaults

• Remove Bluetooth profiles from 8+

• Re-pair headsets with 8+

On 8+

• Reset network settings
• Restore 8+ to factory defaults
• Erase and set up as a new phone

This issue has been present for me since iOS 11. It is still present in all of the current beta's through b5.

Any ideas?
