Weather widget not working on ios 11

Hi,

I have an iphone 7 plus. Since ios 11, the weather widget doesnt update at all. The weather app is not working fine either, I changed the location settings to only when you open the app, I tried also 'always on' but then that little arrow icon appears all the time in the top bar, so I refused.

With the location switch on 'when use the app' the widget should update if I open the app, but It doesnt. Sometimes the app itself doesnt update location or weather conditions.

Am I the only one?!?!

Hello to all who are having problems with the Weather App not working or having it not automatically load your weather conditions, when you launch the Weather App. An error is displayed telling you that the data cannot be “ Loaded.”

I‘ve seen this problem on iPhone and iPad devices and is very easy to fix.

Enter.... <Settings>…<Privacy>…<Location Services>

Enable.... “Location Services” to ON !!!

...then...

Enter.... <Weather> (scroll down the screen)

Enable.... “Allow Location Access” to ALWAYS !!!

...then...

Exit out of settings and goto your main desktop.

REBOOT your iPhone or iPad... totally shutting it down (hold the side or top power button on your device for 6+ seconds... then slide the icon button to “Power Off”).

...NOTE... You MUST power down your device in order for this to work.

Power up your device (press the top or side power button). Give your device a full minute to fully boot and establish a Cell or Wifi lock, enabling the Locations protocol to sync to your location.

Yup. Submitted this several times. I actually talked to an Apple rep about this, who says “engineering is working on this.”

Setting the location Svc to always and rebooting the watch fixed it all for me.

It’s the App! Localization service doesn’t work properly with it... Note that, as I’ve said before, my wife’s one works perfectly (same settings)!

Using 11.3 beta 2 widget is working well ( location services always on)

It’s working very well since Tuesday...

No reboots or any tricks... just location services always on.

This has been a persistent problem for many of us since 11.0. We’ve tried everything including the extremes of wiping the phone clean and restoring as new. It’s been a near six-month problem. Ugh

With changing to 'Always' or 'While using the app' it seems to work correctly.

But with 'Never' it does not work as expected - BUT it worked with 'Never' on older IOS versions.

I didn't have to do anything special - it just used Location Services and updated.

Note the app will warn you that you will have to wait for it to update if you only allow it to update the location while using it.

I have this issue as well on an iPhone 8 Plus running 11.0.1. Changing regional settings does not help. Even launching the weather app from the widget doesn't even cause the widget to update. Surprised a problem like this would persist for so long.

I have the same problem. My weather widget show New York Weather and I am not in NY, when I touch it said”would you like add New York weather? That us crazy. By the way my battery it idrains fast with IOS 11. Not good.

Same to me on my iPhone 6 and iPhone 8, both on iOS 11.0.2

I opened a case to Apple Support, at first the tried to bounce mw with stupid issues (a second level engeneer told me that it wasn't their fault because they fetch the data from an external source! I spent the whole call tryin to let him understand that it was the same source for both the widget and the app!)

The third time they left the case open waiting for a feedback from developers... Let's wait

I have tried all the suggested solutions, but my widget remains stuck in Santa Clara. Does Apple read these message boards to fix its bugs? If not, why not? If so, why don't they post an acknowledgement?

Same here; using the native Weather app on iPhone 7, iOS 11.0.2, and the widget doesn't refresh at all!

Unlike older updates, iOS 11 seems to be full of bugs! Never experienced so many bugs on Apple device before.
