Weather widget not working on ios 11

Hi,

I have an iphone 7 plus. Since ios 11, the weather widget doesnt update at all. The weather app is not working fine either, I changed the location settings to only when you open the app, I tried also 'always on' but then that little arrow icon appears all the time in the top bar, so I refused.

With the location switch on 'when use the app' the widget should update if I open the app, but It doesnt. Sometimes the app itself doesnt update location or weather conditions.

Am I the only one?!?!

Hello to all who are having problems with the Weather App not working or having it not automatically load your weather conditions, when you launch the Weather App. An error is displayed telling you that the data cannot be “ Loaded.”

I‘ve seen this problem on iPhone and iPad devices and is very easy to fix.

Enter.... <Settings>…<Privacy>…<Location Services>

Enable.... “Location Services” to ON !!!

...then...

Enter.... <Weather> (scroll down the screen)

Enable.... “Allow Location Access” to ALWAYS !!!

...then...

Exit out of settings and goto your main desktop.

REBOOT your iPhone or iPad... totally shutting it down (hold the side or top power button on your device for 6+ seconds... then slide the icon button to “Power Off”).

...NOTE... You MUST power down your device in order for this to work.

Power up your device (press the top or side power button). Give your device a full minute to fully boot and establish a Cell or Wifi lock, enabling the Locations protocol to sync to your location.

Hope this helps. Good luck.

In my view, there is no excuse for Apple's failure to monitor its support communities. It is cheap, it is arrogant and it is costly. I had two keyboards and the motherboard replaced on my iMac for an issue I eventually solved myself by burrowing into the support community and learning the problem, bizarrely, was rectified by adding an extender cable between the keyboard and the Mac. Apple's "geniuses" and AppleCare folks were unaware of the solution that was on their own message board.

Thanks, but sadly most of us here have tried that months ago. The attempted fixes have included, at least on my new iPhone 8, completely wipe clean and set up as new; resetting all settings; deleting and re-installing the weather app, and virtually everything else we can think of. Nothing lasts. Over the phone an Apple tech rep told me “the engineers are working on it.”

I still have the issue (see previous posts) but haven’t had it completely stop (yet anyhow), in fact at the moment it’s updating faster than ever, the strange thing is it still appears to be ”time” related (for me), at certain times of the day it’s a lot slower, and these times are consistent. It’s not my Home Network because it behaves the same when away and using off Mobile Data so what’s going on is beyond me.

My guess is that is refreshing the iPhone,

Might be, tried this morning but wouldn't update - gave up and went out to do a few jobs. Just returned and on opening the Widget Center it bloody well updated in a couple of seconds, as I said before, go figure.

If it never worked would understand and just give up and use an alternative, it's this hit and miss that's so puzzling, not sure if it's a caching issue (ie once it updates that's it for several hours), but that shouldn't prevent new data overriding the current if available, bad design if it does.

I really shouldn’t be saying this just in case it’s tempting fate, but never yet had the Weather Widget permanently lock up on either device (fingers and everything else crossed), and again this lack of consistency makes it very difficult to guess what’s going on.

Just updated iOS to 11.2.5 and although it’s not mentioned in the notes will see if it helps, again fingers crossed.
