COULD NOT ACTIVATE iPAD (ios 11)

If it isn't important to Apple, I suggest they buy our now useless iPads, iPhones and iPods back from us and get us something that will work! They just have to look at this discussion to know it is much more common than they think!

Ios 11.2 just release,

I have try update my failed activation ip5s to this new update,

After extracing software it said fail to gather information from devices.

Still frusted at this. Apple please help.

Facing same problem on refurbished iphone6.

Have tried all of the suggestions and O2 are clueless to all of this and are suggesting I have damaged my phone.

Can not recover phone from iTunes have tried several different wifi’s. Sim won’t work in any other device either. 😡

I am in the same situation with a ipad mini 2 wifi, also tried a huge amount of variations in an attempt to get my device to activate after ios 11 update & restore.

Go to settings down to reset Reset network settings After reset enter your router wireless key.

Go to iCloud make sure iCloud back up is on Then backup now over your wifi.

Then go to settings down to reset Restore iPhone back to factory settings.

Set back up over your wifi when it asks if you want to use iCloud backup Say yes to get your apps and data back this will get rid of any bugs.

Yep ive tried every version of iOS 11 and cannot activate. Pretty much tried everything suggestedx different computers, restores, cables, itunes versions, internet connections, turning 2 stage on/off. Third party softwares. The IOs is installed and functionalc just cant get past the activation screen.

Still having the same issue. Tried to downgrade to all ipsw being signed by Apple as of this writing but nothing worked. Having an error from iTunes, "Your iPad can't be activated because the activation information is invalid". Please have a fix.

Well, I contacted Apple Support and guess what! They are sure it must be my internet, or the fact that I purchased my iPad used!!!! This is ridiculous. I sent them the link to this thread, they claim they read all the postings and STILL it must be my internet!!!! Is there any way to make them listen???

I took my ipad mini 2 to a different city, used a completely different mac to re-download and install the latest ios11.

Obviously on a completely new network/wifi.

Is anyone on this thread surprised this changed nothing?.... i am still locked out with a failed activation.

Apple PLEASE fix this problem asap! I own multiple apple devices and this is really turning me off your brand that you allow things like this to happen!!

I finally got an honest, if not very helpful, response from one of the techs at Apple Support! He said there is nothing they can can do right now, so we should just wait for the next update and hope this issue is resolved! No, it doesn't help at all, but it does feel better when the failure of their product is acknowledged!!!

Hi, not sure if this issue is common to others but I managed to solve my problem.

First test was to connect my iPad to my Android Cell Hotspot as opposed to my home wifi. On a hotspot connection I was able to connect and signin to icloud etc and the iPad works as expected.

At home, I was connecting through an access point. All other devices on the access point worked as expected except for my iPad. I switched the access point off and connected the iPad to the main router wifi. This now works.

Next step is for me to troubleshoot why the iPad has an issue with the access point setup.

Apple have repaired my iPhone 6 refurb but the sim has been blocked with the iOS update. So need to do a sim swap now. Will not be updating other devices as same thing will happen. Keep getting ‘activation server can not be reached.’

When upgrade is due will not be using Apple devices again.

Although Apple has released many iOS versions, there are nothing useful for activation error. This error is a big problem which idevice users have got. Apple hardly knows this and it hasn’t been fixed. Please fix as soon as possible!

For an iPad2, I was able to solve this issue for my son.

His iPad was never used on a cell network and he never knew that it even had a SIM card in it.

I popped out the SIM and connected to iTunes.

It activated straight away.

It appears that IF it has any SIM installed, in Apple's infinite wisdom, you're forced to activate over the cell network and disregard any other connection method. Seems like some of those millennial programmers they have on staff need to learn how to write better conditional statements and error handling in their code. Pretty pathetic if you ask me.
