That worked for me too....not sure if anyone else noticed this or not but this bug also effects your use of the control center function when your screen is locked. I sometimes swipe up to use my camera quickly when the screen was locked and that function didn't work either. Changing it to zoomed has worked. I haven't change it back to standard yet to just test out how long it lasts before moving back to standard view.

After I switched it to zoom and back to standard, it worked fine. I had a clock, had notifications. After a few days, I decided to test and changed it back to zoom. Sure enough, no more clock, no more notifications. After a few hours I went back to standard. Clock is back and a whole bunch of notifications popped up. I should think that Apple has enough troubleshooting from all of us to have this fixed soon.
There is no fix to this problem so far. I have also visited Apple store for almost 7 times in last month or so but no luck. They have tried everything from resetting my phone to swapping it out with a new device. As per them it’s a big with iOS11 and Apple engineering team is only collecting information at this point, will have to wait until an update comes out. There is no workaround so no point running around with resetting or restarting.
After updating to 11.1 a few days ago, I have not had this issue present again.
Prior to this update, I found that if I reset the screen display mode to "Standard" (from "Zoomed"), the issue would resolve. I could then immediately reset it to Zoomed (for the obvious reasons) without recreating the issue. I would typically get at least 3-4 days from this work-around and it was a quick process anytime I noticed the clock had disappeared from the lock screen. I never did anything to the widgets at all, and in my case at least, don't believe they were related.
I'm hopeful that the update to 11.1 will be a permanent resolution.
It seems the only way to get the clock back on the lock screen after it disappears is to reboot the phone. This is only a temporary fix. Switching from standard to zoom view reboots the phone in the process is why this also works, albeit only temporarily. I have gone as many as 8 days without an issue, and then the clock will disappear randomly.
I have complained to Apple, numerous times, had the phone switched 3 times, and the problem still persists. Supposedly the issue has be escalated to engineering, and I have sent screen shots and diagnostics as requested. I was told this is NOT a wide spread problem, so unless people complain directly to AppleCare in droves, I don't suspect anything will be done. My apple representative (senior apple care troubleshooter) has not returned any of my phone calls (x3).
Apple is slipping.
I had the problem both on my old iPhone 7, new iPhone X, and iPad Pro.
Since disabling the discover card widget no reoccurrence for over 3 weeks. Kept News, WSJ and Maps active.
There may be other offending widgets but it is clear that the discover widget causes problems for many.
I have iPhone SE. I had the disappearing / blank lock screen so I deleted all Widgets and problem went away completely. I did use the Discover Card so I may do some tests to see if re-enabling that widget causes the issue to reoccur
I completely agree. I removed the Discover card widget and haven’t had an issue for 16 days and counting. I dont think it has anything to do with the camera, notifications or wallpapers at all. I tried everything else suggested here and it wasn’t until I removed the discover widget did it finally stop. I have every other widget enabled Including weather, news, find friends, Waze...
This has been addressed many many times on this post. You need to remove widgets. Some widgets are the cause of this issue. The one that I know caused my problem was the Discover CC. Ever since I removed it I have not had the issue.

If you read through all the posts, especially the ones over the past month, you will see that people have posted success with removing any bank widgets. I for one removed the Discover Card widget and have not had a problem since 11/24/17. I consider it vpermanent. I’ve gone through 4 phones and countless resets before finding this solution.
Restarting my phone worked...clock is back, for now...thanks!
I swiped down on the home screen, then back up and the clock re-appeared. You don't need to restart.
Guys, I think I found the solution. I deleted the Whatsapp widget and now everything works fine. The clock is back and I see the preview Whatsapp messages on the home screen.
Disable ALL widgets. That seemed to work for me. Also if you have a Discover CC widget that may be the problem.
