iOS 11 auto time zone problem

I travel internationally extensively for work. I have always had my iPhone Time Zone set to "Set Automatically." When I arrive at my destination and connect to the WiFi, the iPhone correctly set the time.

However, since iOS 11, now when I turn my phone to Airplane Mode when I go to bed, the time zone reverts to my home time zone. This caused me to miss an alarm that I set!!! Please fix this!!

This worked for me. I think everything was working fine while we travelled until I changed Facebook's location services to "while using the app" because Facebook was chewing up battery charge. Make sure you follow the path all the way to the setting as adviced by TheLastPagan: Settings > Privacy > Location Services > System Services > Setting Time Zone and turn this on. It is deep in iOS. I have two iPhones and only one had the issue with the only difference the Facebook location services so that's why I am suggesting this may have something to do with it. Regardless, if Setting Time Zone is off for any reason it won't update your time zone automatically.

Hi Dagaz, I am with Telstra on NBN. Apple tried to tell me it was the telco's software that is loaded on my phone but I pointed out to them that switching the Auto / Manual switch has nothing to do with what Telco I am with. It is also happening on my new iPad 2017 which is not connected to any phone connection, and is not syncing with my phone. I had been using the beta software but it was also happening with this. Apple told me to remove the beta otherwise they will not be able to help me. You may want to think about reverting back before they call you as they will use any excuse to palm you off as "too hard" to fix. It is certainly an IOS problem which they must fix. They know it is a problem but wont admit to it saying "this is the first time i have heard of this" and then trying to say i must be doing something wrong. That didn't go down well..... Anyway, that's my winge for the morning. Please let me know how you go with Apple and i will also let you know what happens with me, if Apple ever calls back. I forgot to mention, it is not happening on both my son's iPhone 5 and 5S running the same IOS as on my iPhone 8 plus, so is obviously something wrong on the newer devices.

Same problem here, on iPhone X with iOS 11.2. Arrived in Europe from Singapore, time zone updated automatically, I set my alarm for 7am local time, turned on airplane mode (to avoid calls waking me up in the middle of the night). My alarm went off but it was actually 7am Singapore time, only 1am where I am! My Apple Watch was still on local time (hadn’t reverted back since was disconnected from phone due to airplane mode).

Please fix this!

I have the same issue. Very frustrating and causing me to miss alarms, appointments, and reminders

iPhone 8 iOS 11.2

I set the date time "set automatically" to be off. It stays off with my manually set time for a few days... then changes back to "set automatically" being on.

I live and work in two different time zones so it's a problem when I think my phone is on one time and it mysteriously randomly changes back to auto setting and is either an hour ahead or behind

It doesn't seem like this should be a hard thing to get right. If I tell it to not set automatically it should stay off

I have the reverse problem. I just recently wiped my phone, reset it and have been rebuilding from scratch, not a back up. When I travel I always leave my home time zone set and adjust accordingly.

After 11.1.2 the Set Automatically toggle is reverting back to On even after I turn it of.

I’ve turn d my phone off and on repeatedly and every time I do, the toggle is in the On position.

So this is not fixed. I’m forced to have Set Automatically On despite the fact I want if Off.
