iOS 11 auto time zone problem

I travel internationally extensively for work. I have always had my iPhone Time Zone set to "Set Automatically." When I arrive at my destination and connect to the WiFi, the iPhone correctly set the time.

However, since iOS 11, now when I turn my phone to Airplane Mode when I go to bed, the time zone reverts to my home time zone. This caused me to miss an alarm that I set!!! Please fix this!!

This worked for me. I think everything was working fine while we travelled until I changed Facebook's location services to "while using the app" because Facebook was chewing up battery charge. Make sure you follow the path all the way to the setting as adviced by TheLastPagan: Settings > Privacy > Location Services > System Services > Setting Time Zone and turn this on. It is deep in iOS. I have two iPhones and only one had the issue with the only difference the Facebook location services so that's why I am suggesting this may have something to do with it. Regardless, if Setting Time Zone is off for any reason it won't update your time zone automatically.

I’m on a ship moving through time zones! I rely on manual setting of time zone because we don’t change our clocks right where we transit time zones as it would be at crazy times of the day. Imagine the headache this is causing me! I don’t have gsm signal so it’s nothing to do with my local providers.

Can anyone direct me to a direct reporting facility? Thanks!

On another note, I just realized that my MAC running iOS 10.13.2 High Sierra is doing something weird as well and upon a restart.

I have the timezone set to MANUAL (GMT +3) and i adjust the clock to my local current time (GMT +2) and whenever I restart my computer the clock advances one hour keeping the manual GMT+3 setting but changing the actual clock!

Seems there is a problem with all the latest iOS software for iPhones and MACs when it comes to timezone!

Of course, Apple will not admit this, I know there is a problem and it started happening only when I upgraded to High Sierra 10.13.2 and when I upgraded to 11.2 and started using an iPhone X.

We will have to wait for a new update that will fix this, no use calling Apple they will run you around with Reset All, Reinstall the iOS and perhaps reformat and install fresh ...BS, afterwards when all fails, they will say we will report this to our supervisors!

I have an iPhone 6 running 11.2.5 and just started having this same problem. I drive a truck and need to have the phone stay in one time zone as my home time. I thought it was just when I updated to the latest software and switched it back but it did it by itself a couple of time since. I only sleep 4-5 hours a night and that may be from 3pm to 8 pm and then start driving so I kinda need to get the best sleep I can get and this is messing me up. It seems problems like this would have never occurred when Steve was there as he ruled with an iron fist and code writers shook in their boots if there was some kind of glitch and would get it fixed immediatly but with the new kinder, gentler leadership, we see how that's working out. I guess it is time to look for a clock app to go along with the podcast app I had to get to replace the abomination that Apple has made it in to.

Its not us gurus that can fix it. It’s within the iOS. I had an idiot from Apple try to convince me my carrier is responsible. Yeah riiiiiigggghhhhhtttt my carrier hacked into my phone when it was turned off and changed a setting. The last person I spoke with said they recognized the problem but it was not an escalated problem. Rediculous it makes wearing an Apple WATCH pointless.

Once you restart the phone it will reset itself to whatever it wants. I am officially getting rid of my Apple Watch and going back to my Citizen. Apple doesn't care about this issue and it directly effects how one of their main products works and thats the watch. Oh well...their loss Ive had my Citizen for 10+ years I know it works no matter what I do with my phone x 256gb. I have waisted money on two watches and luckily I am bailing now and will never be tempted to buy another.

Typed on my MacBook Pro 15 in Retna....just to show I am a loyal customer that realizes this issue has no care in the world from Apple.
