iPhone 8: crackling static noise during calls

IMO they have. The update just isn’t out yet. It’s possible 11.0.2 is our this week with the fix. I have been on 11.1 and it’s resolved as far as I can tell. I’ve had NO crackle on calls in several days.

Me too. The issue is so widespread that Telus (telecom company in my area) web store stopped taking calls 3-days after the launch. It took me one week to get a hold of them to swap my device. I am still waiting for a shipping date for the exchange.

Now you see why I chose the site name, given the nonsense here, no dispute.

Purchased an iPhone 8 Plus and it is using iOS 11.0.2 and I still get static through the phone. Doesn’t seem to happen when I use an earbud. Hope Apple is monitoring because I will be visiting an Apple store in the next two days to see what they can offer for a fix.

But first go to settings -general software update To ios11.0.1 this will fix some bugs

Apple is working on a software fix (not iOS 11.0.1) that should be released in due time.

I can confirm I have this issues with a 1 day old 8+. I have turned speakerphone on/off. I have disabled LTE voice, I have disabled Noise Cancellation.. nothing solves this issue. I thought I didn’t have it and then on calls with my wife last night I heard it.

A way to test it is to call a number.. say 1800-PICK-UPS.. something that talks a bit so you can listen. It is a light scratching and tinny popping noise. IMO, it is widespread.

Hearing that 11.0.1 does not resolve. This is not cool.. brand new launch phones.

Hi, same problem on 8 Plus 64GB here in Italy.

In our forum we have made a discussion for the issue and there are a lot of people with the clicktick interference during calls especially when you are in quiet place.

That's the same problem that I have .. only I'm using an iPhone 7.

I think it's the lightning connector that causes the (software related) problem. Because I didn't have that problem while using iOS 10 ..

This happens to my iphone 8 too. (Singapore) I’ve exchanged it and still same problem. I can’t live with the crackling noise so exchanged for iphone 7 (because I’ve sold my 7 upon receiving 8).

Wasted money and back to 7. Not cool.

Frankly I don’t think it is a software glitch as it affects “some” users. Software glitch will affect all. Could be hardware issues related?

Personally this is not acceptable, it cannot even serves the function of a phone. Even china phones will not produce such crackling.

I can’t talk on crackling noise as I work via phone. Had returned my set.

It’s a tough call. I can understand people wanting to return/exchange. The issue here is that it’s likely a replacement will have same issue. I understand people not wanting to be outside of 14 days. However, due to Apple publicly acknowledging the issue it will likely be fixed or Apple will allow warranty replacements, which is protection outside of 14 days. I am holding out a bit. I feel better having an article published by The Verge with Apple stating they are aware and working on it.
