iPhone 8 Plus Sound Distortion

I am using an iPhone 8 Plus on iOS 11.0. I noticed that when I am playing song on loudspeaker, there are some kind of "noise" or "distortion" to the song, every time I make some actions that would trigger sound feedback, e.g. typing on the keyboard. This will also occur when I browse in the App Store while listening to song, especially when the App Store video tries to play automatically. This issue does not happen while I use a headphone instead. Apparently this issue also exists in other iPhone 8 and 8 Plus. Is this hardware defect?

Hey. i think you might wanna take it to the Genius Bar, my 8Plus has the same issues and i tried everything...eventually, apple engineers agreed it was a defect and offered to replace my phone. Unfortunately, they didnt have a replacement in store as at when i went, but they just called me to come pick up a phone this week.. should be going there 2mrw or next. At this point, i dont think an OS update will fix it, I did a DFU, Restore, Update (even to beta) and still nothing. If theres no accidental or warranty void, you should get a replacement phone.

I own iPhone 8 Plus. I installed the iOS 11.1 but I still have a popping sound when someone calls me and slide to answer so the ring stops it makes a “pop”. Also YouTube app when changing videos before video loads it makes a strange pop sound.

If you fight with them enough maybe. I will be fighting to get a replacement and I bought it from Apple, they still denied it. 14 day return policy, they will only replace it if apple workers accept that there is a problem. Worker I delt with denied hearing the issue until I left the genius bar.

That is great to hear that you have a device that no longer has the issue.

Apple has told me that exchanges will not be done as of now as the issue is likely to be in replacements.

I have had 4 replacements and all have the issue.

I really wish Apple would solve this as, IMO, the 8 Plus is the best phone ever made by Apple.

I am a bit sour'ed on Apple with how they have handled my situation but I truly do the issue is resolved for the people who have the issue. I am personally frustrated but I also recognize that Apple makes some of the best products in the world and has some of the best service in the world.

Yes, confirmed so again i think its a software issue, happens to my iPhone 8 Plus, my brother’s iPhone X and my sister iPhone 8 Plus so I would think its a software issue

you don’t need a replacement, its clearly a software issue, Apple should fix this in updates.

Thanks for the reply. I have tried these steps and they do not seem to work. Hard reset did not work for me as well.

This issue can be easily reproduced by tapping into an app page which contains auto-playable video in the App Store, while playing song in the background. Video auto-play setting has to be turned on. The issue does not occur every time but it will occur once in a few times when I repeatedly tapping in and out of the app page.

I went to Apple Store and check on the other new iPhone 8 and 8 Plus. They seems to face the same issue as well.

Same for me. iOS 11.0.2 did not solve my problem. It was apparently to fix the cracking sound while placing a phone call.

Is your issue the same as what I described?

I am from Singapore and I found that the iPhones in the Apple Store are having the same problem too. I reported to Apple Support and they are yet to provide a fix.

Same I'm running 11.0.3 and I'm experiencing the poping every where not just when I make calls it in the audio it self when I'm listening to music and doing things the audio cuts out and I hear poping

This problem is happening on my almost brand new iPad Pro with iOS 11.0.3 with a proper 3.5mm plug headphone. There is background music playing but dialogues from movies are lost and lyrics from songs are lost too. Music can sound very tinny as well.

Tried a few other headphones, same issue, I noticed if I stick my headphone in not all the way, i can start to hear people talk again in movies. But the headphone can’t go all the way in, part way only and you need to hold the headphone part in a certain position to hear things properly.

i think there is a software glitch that’s sending signals down the wrong paths.

Hi, with regards to my reply before yours, I was wrong. I'm still experiencing the popping sound 😟 I hope Apple hears us out and looks into this. Maybe since not a lot are speaking up about it, they won't cater to it. But hopefully i'm wrong. I hope this isnt a hardware defect. 😟

I’m having a annoying problem my iPhone 8 Plus is having a popping sound from my speakers wen playing music on Spotify and on fb messenger but if I put the phone on silent it doesn’t do it it’s so strainge it looks like these updates haven’t actually made one to fix this issue but I really hope they bring one soon

It was a retail grey iPhone 8 branded box.

I’m not sure why you’re trying to find out if I got a refurb white box when I already said I didn’t. I got all the peripherals etc too. It was brand new and was manufactured around November time judging by the iOS version it had on it.
