iPhone 8 Plus Sound Distortion

I am using an iPhone 8 Plus on iOS 11.0. I noticed that when I am playing song on loudspeaker, there are some kind of "noise" or "distortion" to the song, every time I make some actions that would trigger sound feedback, e.g. typing on the keyboard. This will also occur when I browse in the App Store while listening to song, especially when the App Store video tries to play automatically. This issue does not happen while I use a headphone instead. Apparently this issue also exists in other iPhone 8 and 8 Plus. Is this hardware defect?

Hey. i think you might wanna take it to the Genius Bar, my 8Plus has the same issues and i tried everything...eventually, apple engineers agreed it was a defect and offered to replace my phone. Unfortunately, they didnt have a replacement in store as at when i went, but they just called me to come pick up a phone this week.. should be going there 2mrw or next. At this point, i dont think an OS update will fix it, I did a DFU, Restore, Update (even to beta) and still nothing. If theres no accidental or warranty void, you should get a replacement phone.

Very true. I did sent mine back to the reseller and they said everything is fine. I even record the popping sound when it happen and they don’t believe it. Very frustrating and disappointed as it is very common issue with the phone even my mom 8plus did the same thing. Hope it is software issue and it can be fixed. Pls Apple don’t hide.

If anyone know the release date, please, report to the thread.

Or notify on release fact. So all of us could update our devises and confirm the issue to be fixed.

Having the same distortion issue with phone calls, have the 8 plus since September of 2017. The problem seem to be getting worse, will take it the store for troubleshoot. I was hoping all those updates would fix the problem, might need a special patch for distortion.

We just got a new iphone 8 today and downloaded the latest update and noticed the crackling noise. It wasnt as bad as i have heard reports about, but it is pretty disappointing when you spend $$$ and get a faulty product. We upgraded from an iphone 6 and kinda want to go back to an iphone 6 just one day into it. I wonder if android user have similar issues to this?

I have submitted this bug to Apple's Bug Report. And they ask me to sysdiagnose and to send them logs.

I originally submitted the issue like this.

Then I have provided logs they asked me for via their sysdiagnose.

I would like to ask all of you that have this problem to report this bug in a similar way, so Apple has some evidence of this and feedback from us. Maybe if there is a good number of us to report this similarly, we will finally have a fix for this issue.

I really hope that I do not need to sell my phone for some other. Otherwise my 8 Plus is perfect.

Is your issue exactly the same as mine? i.e. distortion when you use the phone while playing song in the background? Have you reported to Apple or found a fix? Thanks.

Hi Julieda,

Yes I am on iOS 11.0.2 but this version is to fix the crackling sound when placing a phone call. However my phone's problem is different. See my original post above for the description.

Same here! Hope it's a software issue. it's so hard to get an iPhone replaced here in the Philippines, they always try to find a reason for you not to even when it's right there! 😟

I just got my iPhone 8 this week and i'm having the same issues. I really do hope that it's fixed soon with a new update.

The replacement from Apple for the 3rd iPhone 8 Plus I've got was a brand new sealed box one. Not a refurbished one.

All of them have been new in fact, no refurbs.

Did they advise you wait for the next OS release? because im already on 11.2.5 and it doesnt fix anything trust me.

Wonder why they couldn't just replace the phone.
