iPhone 8 bluetooth issues

My new iPhone 8 is having all kinds of wonkiness with bluetooth. It refused to pair with my AirPods, repeatedly dropped connection to my 2016 car, routinely loses connection with my series 1 watch and refused to connect to unlock my laptop (all things that I had no issues with before moving over from my iPhone 6). Apple support told me to erase all content, reset and go through a reinstall from a backup (and all the password re-entry etc.) which I did wasting a couple hours of my day. Their remote diagnostic said bluetooth was fine and some of my apps (none to be named) had problems necessitating this restoration from backup. Needless to say, the issue does not seem solved. Anyone else having bluetooth issues with the iPhone 8? All of these bluetooth connectivity issues worked flawlessly on the 6 (with iOS11 and all prior iterations I had) so I may just sent the 8 back and live w/ my 3 year old battery for a while longer.....

I just had a thought. The 6 and 7 model iphones don’t have the BT issue so what is the biggest difference between them and the 3 newest models that do have the issue? The biggest is wireless charging and with that you now have a glass backed case so maybe the BT signal is to strong now and saturates the device it tries to pair with? That would at least partially explain why it works better when in a bag, purse or leather holster. Then again who knows, except for Apple.

i don't think this is the issue cause the galaxy note 8, galaxy s8 and the galaxy s8 plus, the new LG V30 and alot other more are not facing this issue at all their bluetooth is very stable. what should happen is that bluetooth 5.0 should provide either the same performance of the previous generation or better but never worse.i personally tried the samsungs mentioned above and all of them work perfectly. very stable and amazing signal range.

From the previous link:

Devices implementing only the low energy feature of Bluetooth 5 will be backward compatible with Bluetooth 4.2, 4.1 and 4.0 devices that also implement the low energy feature.

Devices implementing the Basic Rate/Enhanced Data Rate (BR/ EDR) Core *** guration will

be backward compatible with all adopted Bluetooth Core Speci cation versions beginning with 1.1 that also implement Bluetooth BR/EDR.

unfortunately the signal is very in the iPhone 8 due to some issue in the bluetooth hardware or software not confirmed till now but most probably software. cause it works abit better with an apple product like a beats headphone such as powerbeats 3 which i tested personally and seems that it performs a little bit better. but any other bluetooth device works terribly bad and specially if two devices are connected to it at the same time it will be disconnecting and reconnecting one of the devices every minute. hope they push a fix fast

One factor that may help Bluetooth 5 expand into IoT apps for the enterprise and industry is the new routers and access controller from Cassia Networks. These products make it easy for Bluetooth devices to connect to via the internet, opening the door to many new potential uses. Version 5 should also expand its reach into the area of beacons for proximity sensing and location messaging. And all the while, Bluetooth 5 is backwards-compatible with the 4.x versions.

It’s clear there is a problem but it can’t be that big as it would be effecting everyone and we would be seeing this all over twitter. I have no problems connecting Bluetooth to headphones it’s just the car - and if I connect manually then it’s fine. It’s only when I auto connect that it drops and then tries to connect again - it’s annoying and dangerous. What do we do to fix this? I’ve changed the phone 3 times. Is it the same on the iPhone X?

iPhone X has the issue as well. Version 5 is supposed to be backward compatible. Nothing from Apple on a fix that I’ve heard of yet.

Yes and more than once. I can connect a 6 and a 7 without issues to my new Jeep Wrangler but the 8 drops in and out on BT. The 8 will connect to my headset or speakers with out issue though. Some times it connect to the Jeep BT with no issues. The 8 tests dime and Jeep says the BT in the vechical is fine. There are many, many users with 5he same issues being reported.
