Iphone 8 voice quality issue

I’m also having the same problem if not being able to hear people well because they’re so muffled, yet when I call back on FaceTime audio they’re very clear. Only happened since I got my 8+ also. Could it be an issue with cellular voice processing or something. I have 4g voice and data selected and did on my 6s also so it’s nkt that either.

Thanks, but if I have to take off the case every time I talk to someone, that’s not very convenient. Time to go back to the store. I, too, am having this problem. It is particularly discouraging because the date today is July 12, 2018, and I see you posted Sept 25, 2017. So it's been a year and nothing is being done about the issue and these phones are being sold with this known problem. Disgusting. I have been to the Apple store and changed SIM cards, etc. All the things you speak of. No improvement. In fact, the muffled voice on mine is so bad people have to call me back on my land line!

Not true, I am with Verizon on my 8 Plus. And just like my 7 Plus. People keep saying, either they cannot hear me, or there is a lot of static.

I find the calls from others are crystal clear.

My iPhone 6 gave me zero problems, I am wishing now I didn’t trade up to this phone.

Starting to think it’s time to jump ship back to Android.

Headsets are working great for me.

I am also experiencing this hollow sound when on calls, its worse then iphone 6 I was using. So annoyed.

I have an iPhone eight I just got last week and is having the same problem. I also upgraded from a 6S. However I am on Sprint. So the problem is not just with AT&T.

I had the same issue too when I first started using iphone 8, it now is ok sound is ok and sounds great. Give it some time sound will improve. Ive had my phone a month now.

Same issue with my iPhone 8. I bought a Samsung S7 to use. The i8 sits in my desk drawer to remind me to never buy another Apple product....

That is not the reason for everyone. Glad you found the source of the problem for you, however. There seems to be many different causes and fixes, and, in some cases, no fixes.

I did this and problem persists.
