Iphone 8 plus wireless charging problem

I have an Iphone 8 plus on IOS 11.0.1 now Whenever my phone get full charged on wireless charging, it always showed recharging indicator and beep sound (that seems like disconnect and reconnect). This only happen when my phone fully charged. I have tested out in 3 pads and get same result (doesn’t happen on my galaxy s8 - i use samsung, and nokia original qi wireless charging pad) . Any solution for this?

From what I read, the phone will limit charging after 80% if it senses that the batter is getting too warm. It does this to preserve the life of the battery. How to wirelessly charge your iPhone 8 or iPhone 8 Plus - Apple Support

What happen is that the new iPhones do charge with ani qi compatible pad, it does not transmit information back to them. So they don't know it's state. When it finishes charging completely;

  • The iPhone cuts the charging cycle (and it turns off the led indicator in the pad)
  • The pad checks if there is something to charge
  • It finds a device and send energy (turning on the lights)
  • The iPhone cuts the charging cycle because it's already fully charged (turning the light back off)
  • and so on......

Apple have affirmed they have partnerships with mophie and belkin in some chargers, so this particular ones do receive info from the iPhone. The same happens to the AW Series 3, witch do have qi but do not work with any charger.

I have been having problems with my iPhone 8 charging on 3 different Qi certified charging pads (one of them is the mophie through Apple) ever since the first day I received it. The Qi charging pads work fine with other phones that are Qi enabled, so that's not the issue. My iPhone 8 charged fine for a few hours after I received it. I tested it right away. After I used it and tried to charge it again, the battery indicator would turn green with the lighting sign to show it's charging. I checked back after 4-5 hours and it had it charged at all. The battery was at 75% and didn't change. I spent over a week on this problem. I tried 3 different Qi certified pads and all of them have the same results. Sometimes, it will charge one or two percent then stop. Sometimes, it will charge some of the way but not to 100% even after 24 hours. Sometimes, it won't charge at all. It is not consistent or reliable.

I have tried doing soft reset, factory reset and even exchanged to a new phone. Both iPhone 8's have behaved the same way. This has been disappointing and frustrating.

I talked to Apple support center for hours and their tech guys didn't know what was wrong or how to fix it either. They suggested I get exchange it for a new phone, which I did. But, that didn't help either.

If anybody else has had similar issues or other issues with wireless charging, please reply or let me know.

Thanks!

Your iPhone might get slightly warmer while it charges. To extend the lifespan of your battery, if the battery gets too warm, software might limit charging above 80 percent. Your iPhone will charge again when the temperature drops. Try moving your iPhone and charger to a cooler location.

I am having the same issue.

I have several different Qi-certified chargers that work flawlessly with other Android devices, but this iPhone 8 Plus works in some weird way. Depending on the wireless chargers' features, "charging" indicator is always on even though it's 100% fully charged (None of the Android phones I have does that).

Or if the wireless charger has a feature such as "breathing LED" while charging, the LED is always on while it's supposed to stop when fully charged.

Or for some chargers, iPhone keeps turning its screen on and off endlessly once it's fully charged.

I recently replaced the unit and testing out the new one. Before returning it, I have tried everything: factory reset (from both on the phone itself and through iTunes), removing case, DFU restore, and trying higher Watts charger. Nothing worked. All the Qi chargers are Qi-certified and I want to emphasize that they all have been working perfectly fine for other phones.

It's going to take a few days to test it out, and I will have you updated. Even Genius Bar guys had no idea even though I showed them the recorded video of the symptom. I am going to try one of the two chargers Apple suggested to use, but if it works, while other chargers don't, it would mean that iPhone 8/Plus is not really Qi-certified - full return for me if that's the case.

I really hope it's just a software issue and Apple updates it along with 7.5 watts charge support.

I don't think not many people actually tried wireless charging with their iPhone 8/Plus yet, and that's why this issue is not well-known yet. If anyone reading this has iPhone 8/Plus working perfectly fine with third-party Qi-charger (not one of the two Belkin and mophie ones), please let us know which product it is.

Hi, i recently using my Nokia old DT-900 from old days lumia 920

And it worked without problem although i charge it overnight but the charging rate is slow, i only use it at night

I think the problem is the room’s temperature, must be on very cool condition. if the problem exist, means that we have to go to morphie or belkin

I have this similar problem on my iPhone 8 with the Samsung convertible I got from Best Buy. It doesn't matter what percentage the battery shows, the blue light turns on then it blinks every 6 seconds or so. It disconnects/reconnects. I tried positioning it in different ways, trying to center it up just right. I tried it folded up and folded down. I tried it with the plastic case and without. Sometimes it will stay steady blue, but not charge. But most of the time, it won't stay steady blue and won't charge. It will blink every 6 seconds when it isn't steady blue. Sometimes, it will be steady blue for a few mins, then start slow blink. But it won't charge. I don't think the fan it's supposed to have is working. I don't hear a fan or feel a fan.

Are Samsung convertibles just not compatible with iPhone 8/+?
