If you go to your email, in the top right corner there is an edit button. once you hit that, you can select every piece of email you have and one of the options is to delete.

I donā€™t see anyone buying anything less than iPhone X. At least not in my area. And in my area I commonly see complaints and bad reviews about iPhone X on Facebook and other social media. Point is, I use to have features on previous version and now I donā€™t since after updating the firmware. Apple is known for its sleezy tricks to get people to upgrade their phones and I wouldnā€™t be surprised if you worked for apple to write replies to negative reviews. Iā€™ve had 4 apple products and I can say each time there was another release of a newer apple product, the old devices seem to go bad. Itā€™s really annoying to have no option to delete all junk mail from the junk folder in the mail app. So you keep proud of the apple x on that one pal. A good analogy use is one guy can get it up the other Canā€™t. Feel sorry for ya

I don't work for Apple, nor have I ever worked for Apple. The ability to delete all mail once existed long ago. People were forever crying and moaning they accidentally deleted all their mail. This happened every day, all day long. so just my guess, but I imagine the feature was removed because it stopped people from doing something they could not recover from. People should and can maintain their mail more easily on their laptop/pc. It doesn't matter what area you live in. Apple is beating all sales predictions, so again, your assertion they are being killed in the market is simply not true. And I'm frankly surprised your post saying Apple uses sleazy tactics hasn't been taken down by the forum moderators. It's false and rude.

I know several people who have only got iPads or iPhones - so managing email using desk or laptops isnā€™t an option. That would also mean managing your mail online before your iPad/iphone mail program downloads it, which isnā€™t practical for most people either.

I hope the option to have a ā€œselect allā€ button wasnā€™t removed for the reason you stated. Dumbing down a product to accommodate a few people who couldnā€™t focus is nuts.

Iā€™m hoping itā€™s just an oversight Apple soon rectifies in an update.

Hoping...but not holding my breath.

Well broski, Iā€™m sorry if I offended your ā€˜feelingsā€™ when I said the rude comment about Apple using sleazy tactics. Feedback is always most important to them so, we know whatā€™s up and we want it fixed and those tactics to cease. They shouldnā€™t have removed a select all option because people were accidentally deleting emails thatā€™s papostrous! I wonder if I go into an Apple store and look at the new glass X and see if they still have that option to select all. Just older phones donā€™t have that right anymore. I see different phone manufacturers like politicians. Samsung is very right wing, you can still do whatever you want but at your own risk to viruses and crap. Where Apple products are like communism, dictatorship by a central office that decides what rights you will have, what programs are allowed, when your music will expire after you had purchased them, which paid programs will no longer work, and canā€™t see what background apps are running, and, when you should spend money for an upgrade.

Ok communist

And you say you donā€™t work for apple, I just find it interesting. Iā€™m not going to waste my time on feedback because you just donā€™t accidentally take away features, and program them out, so this was done intentionally.

In exposing th truth here. I have someone on my fb who has both the iPhone X and the new seat driod. He compares them and says both were good, X is better for its time and the adriod still has more features and flexibility than the iPhone and I agree. E.g iOS cannot block unknown or private callers when they call. An driod can. So apple can make the bestest ever phone but itā€™s useless if they make it a dictatorship phone and lack the basic features they have lacked for years.

Siri is intergrated but a bit dummer, some features were taken away

Auto correct is even more annoying than every and the spell check is mostly useless.

Oringiannly in the purpose of my first post, im saying itā€™s **** like this apple pulls which is why some people are saying screw your new iPhone X Iā€™m sick and tired of you all taking away features and not listening to us for the ones we need most.

Nuff said snuff

Perhaps the broader view question is ā€What are efficient options for different types of users to manage their emails?ā€

Such should take into consideration the ease of saving certain emails to archival folders vs the selection and removal of all emails over a date range with an ability to deselect those emails desired. Itā€™s probably a lot easier to select all within a date range and deselect the few desired vs selecting the 90% not wanted. The programmers for the Mail app have not done a great job given that itā€™s ten years of iPhone and iPad usage weā€™re into.

Those are good ideas, but there are many options and changes that never seem to come about unless they are personally useful for the programmers. I am in my 70's and have 2 iPads and never leave home without one, however I feel that many times it is only the millennials needs that are considered. However, I am sure every generation of seniors feel that about something useful to us. "that younger generation"šŸ˜‰

This is the stupidest thing i have ever seen. It's THERE in iOS 9.5 because I have a 4s w/ ios 9.5. My friend asked me if Knew how to delete all messages in their email. I'm looking over the mail and I'm wondering why I can't find the "trash all" button. I compare the two iOS's and sure enough, TRASH ALL IS MISSING IN IOS 11!!!! What moron decided this was a good idea? I can do nothing but shake my head. What the bloody heck is wrong w/ these developers?

This is ridiculous. The trick worked once for me but today all the emails disappeared from the selected account and yet it says I have over 4,000 unread emails in that account. They are not visible so I can't do anything with them. Is there a way to truly clean out that mailbox?

not true You then would have to literally touch every email with your finger and then hit trash Iā€™m going to answer this question for everyone once and for all -they want you to run out of space and buy more cloud storage

Or maybe just maybe they figure you stay on top of your mailbox and delete messages you don't want on a regular basis. I guess people are basically lazy.
