Apple Watch face fell off.

The face of my Apple watch fell off. I am 64. My watch is not beat up and very good taken care of. Never been dropped....etc. By the number of posts on this subject it is almost if, there is a problem with the assembly. I just wonder if it is worth it taking it to the Apple Store, as I am not willing to pay $200 for a repair.....

Hi

Contact Apple Support (mail-in service may be available, if required), make a Genius Bar reservation or visit an Apple Authorised Service Provider to arrange for your Apple Watch to be inspected and to establish your available service options:

This morning I looked down to see my watch face loosely still attached to watch. Tried to make Genius Bar appt. or chat online and could never get any response. Walked in to store, rep made me an appt. took a look at it and said they’d probably replace it under quality warranty program, it looked like a swollen battery. Looks like Apple is trying to back their product. Happy to see this;it would have been my last Apple Watch for this price!

Watch face separated from my watch after 13 months. The massively widespread issue is almost always due to a swollen battery. Apple has actually extended the warranty on these watches to 3 years.

Jonathan UK as a level 10 contributor and someone who weighs in on EVERY post regarding this issue, you should know this

Hello! Was your issue resolved? I’m asking because the face of the Series 3, purchased December 16, 2017, has popped off. Apple does not seem to care about the workmanship of this product and obviously believe charging an additional $200.00 is a good customer service resolution. If your issue was resolved, are you willing to share details so I can have some idea the direction I should go with my issue?

I have the exact same problem- no swollen battery, never ever dropped it or bashed anything against it. i sent it off to the apple support and it came back its not covered because its physical damage and "physical damage is not covered under warranty". Mine is a new edition series 3, purchased December 2017... and is still covered under apple care? but for some reason they still want me to pay £188 to repair

£188 sounds like the no warranty no AppleCare cost. You say you have AppleCare+ which includes 2 incidents of accidental damage, so unless you have already used them I suggest you go back to Apple and have them reopen the case and check your entitlement again. I think from memory the deductible for a screen repair under AppleCare+ is about £90-100, still hurts but not as much.

Yeah, I just got off of a 30 min call with apple. I took my wife's 6 month old stainless edition series 2 watch to the apple store last Thursday with a loose face. She swims 3 times a week, and I paid the premium for the stainless model for the chlorine in the pool. This watch is specifically advertised to excel in this area. I received a call from Apple stating a "re-quote" and was told they were going to charge me to fix it??? for real??? no damage, just a loose face, and only 6 months old. I have to say as a loyal Apple customer since 1996 that Apple has sunk to a new low. If this plays out like it looks they may have just lost a 20+ year customer. All I can say is unbelievable. Hope your experience turns out better.

The same issue occurred on my Apple Watch series 2. Yet apple refused to admit fault and would not replace the watch screen without me having to pay for the repair which was not my fault. I even raised the fault to the highest level but was still left with no help. Very poor service, so good luck to you and I hope they actually admit their issue and help you with your one!

I have a 1st gen/series 1 (whatever you want to call it) Apple Watch and noticed last week that the face started lifting off. Made an appointment at the local Genius Bar right away and took it in. They confirmed it was a swollen battery and sent it off for repair to "the depot." They said it is covered for free under their Quality program and the only reason I would have to pay anything is if they find water damage or some kind of modification ... which they wouldn't because I take immaculate care of my watch. Got a call two days later from Apple Store I took it to saying they are completely replacing my watch instead of just repairing it. Unclear if it going to be a refurbished watch, "new" 1st gen/series 1, or a brand new series 3 (I can dream, right?). I'll try to remember to update this post when I find out.

To follow up on my post above from July 17, I did indeed get a brand new watch face (no band) that was exactly the same as my old model that had the swollen battery issue -- an Apple Watch Sport (1st gen/"series 1"). So although it wasn't a newer model, at least it wasn't a refurbished one! And, I didn't have to pay a dime for anything.

My apple watch face just popped off today out of nowhere. I took it off the charger this morning, took my 2km walk to work and once I got there and sat down for a few minutes, I noticed the screen had lifted off the watch. I looked inside and sure enough, the battery is swollen. I called Apple today and they told me they'll send me a box free of charge to send it off to get looked at and I will receive an email detailing whether it needs repair or replacement. The advisor I spoke with told me in his experience with the Apple Watches, they always just get replaced instead of repaired.

Apple Watch face fell off.
