The face of my Apple watch fell off. I am 64. My watch is not beat up and very good taken care of. Never been dropped....etc. By the number of posts on this subject it is almost if, there is a problem with the assembly. I just wonder if it is worth it taking it to the Apple Store, as I am not willing to pay $200 for a repair.....

My replacement watch is on the way as I type this reply. Last week I contacted Apple support on the 800 number. They said they are replacing the first generation watches under 3 years old due to a “swollen“ battery. They shipped me a prepaid box to return the watch in. I sent that back on Monday, October 9 and received a message yesterday that my replacement watch has been sent. I expect to receive it today or tomorrow. Thank goodness I contacted them. There was virtually no hassle. I am thrilled.
I have the same problem with my watch but the estimate they sent me by email before I even sent it our is $200, why would I have to pay that if it's nothing that I did to damage it. I just woke up took it off the charger and the screen was popped out. Did they charge you for the repair?
Hello! Was your issue resolved? I’m asking because the face of the Series 3, purchased December 16, 2017, has popped off. Apple does not seem to care about the workmanship of this product and obviously believe charging an additional $200.00 is a good customer service resolution. If your issue was resolved, are you willing to share details so I can have some idea the direction I should go with my issue?
It was bought in December 2017 for me as a christmas present with applecare as an additional price so i know it is still covered. I have never used the 2 incidents of accidental damage; I have a Macbook and iPhone and have never experienced problems with them to use the claims up.
How old was your watch? Mine has just done this and Apple want £200!!! to reattached the bloody screen 😟
Thanks to your reply, I googled the “swollen” battery issue and contacted them last week. The did exactly as you said. My replacement is on it’s way as I type this. Thanks again!!

Apple does not offer a screen repair or replacement service for Apple Watch (it does not "reattach the screen").
If your issue is not covered under warranty or other Apple policy, then your Apple Watch may instead be eligible for whole unit replacement via chargeable, out-of-warranty service (or via AppleCare+, if previously purchased).
Apple advises that you should not continue using a damaged Apple Watch. As you have already done, contact Apple Support (mail-in service may be available, if required), make a Genius Bar reservation or visit an Apple Authorised Service Provider to arrange for your Apple Watch to be inspected and to establish your available service options and any applicable cost:
