iPhone calendar freezes in IOS 11
When adding an event in calendar, if you try to add a location, the screen locks up and you have to force close the app. I have done a complete reset and download of IOS 11 and still have the problem.

I had this exact same problem. I have an iPhone 7 Plus with iOS 11.0.2. (I tried everything - worked with Apple Support, Senior Advisors, Genius Bar and nothing worked).
I think I discovered how to fix the issue on my own. At least it worked for me. I noticed that whether I typed a letter or a number as the first character in the location field, it took a long time to populate the choices below (addresses, places, etc.). I thought maybe it had something to do with the Contacts data on my iPhone and that maybe there was an indexing issue. Here are the steps I took which resolved the problem for me:
I suggest being on WiFi for this process:
1. Go to Settings / Accounts & Passwords.
2. Under Accounts, select each Account to see which ones have Contacts turned on.
3. If you use Work (Exchange), this likely the issue. Turn off Contacts. When you see the message “Are you sure you want to continue? All exchange contacts will be removed from your iPhone.” Select “Delete from my iPhone”.
4. You will see a message “Turning off Contacts.” Once that is completed, turn Contacts back on. You will see a message “What would you like to do with existing local contacts on your iPhone?” Select “Keep on my iPhone”.
5. You will see another message “If you keep your current contacts on your iPhone, you may see duplicate entries. Are you sure you want to continue?” Select “Keep on my iPhone”. The reason you want to do this is that you may have created other contacts on your iPhone locally that are not in Exchange, so you don’t want to lose them.
6. Let the iPhone sync your contacts from Exchange. If you have a lot (I have almost 4,000), it will take some time (which is why I suggested being on WiFi). I suggest turning off your Auto-Lock (Settings/Display & Brightness/Auto-Lock/Never, then open the Contacts app (you’ll see the contacts populating) until all contacts are synced.
7. Then try creating a new Calendar item and type a location.
8. If you still see the problem, repeat the process with any other Accounts that have Contacts turned on (see Steps 1&2).
Let us know if this works for you.
I did read your response (and most of your previous responses before it/they were blocked!)
It’s obvious you are extremely frustrated and I have some sympathy with this.
However, at some point it’s necessary to accept that the destiny of Apple apps is not under your control and that a choice needs to be made.
1. Abandon Apple devices
2. Hope that Apple respond to customer dissatisfaction and fix these issues (don’t hold your breath given the time this issue has been around)
3. Find a workaround, much as it sticks in the gut
I do hope you will continue to provide input but would respectfully suggest that such input will be more beneficial if totally constructive and therefore, not subject to Apple’s censure , resulting in its short-lived presence on this forum🔥
Regards. R
A few hundred people?? This effects everyone I know who has an iPhone, which is a few hundred people. So somebody's data is out of whack.
For the folks I know, they either don't understand it, have been unwilling take the time to research the issue and come to the support forum, or have given up entirely and gone to another calendar app (like Google).
What's amazing is that the app goes through all of this processing effort to make suggestions based on your contacts, email, Siri, messages, etc., and it still gets it wrong every single time. Here's a suggestion: stop trying to be helpful and just start working properly.
It's an incredibly frustrating problem and Apple needs to address it, plain and simple.
Over to you Apple.

Those are the only ones affected. Mine and my wife's work just fine, as do those of both of my sons and both of my daughters-in-law. I'm glad I'm not your friend and in that group of hundreds.
Hmm... do you actually have direct access to the data? If so, you should share it with this forum. I don't; I can only tell you what the people I know tell me. None of which actually addresses or solves the issue at hand.
OTOH, since it appears you are interested in making this personal, it would seem we are both lucky, though in different ways - I too am glad you are not part of either group.
Of course the Eagles won the Super Bowl, so there's that good news.
No. I was basing my conclusion on your data. Since I do not know a single friend, relative, neighbor that has the problem, I have to conclude that that the numbers in your post make sense is if it's only your friends that have the problem.
Yes, but not as much a nail-biter as their previous NFL championship (Pre-SuperBowl after the 1960 season).

It's not hundreds. it's millions who are affected!!!
Every time I post something That Apple doesn't agree, they put my comment down. 😟
Now I have learned that Apple does no wrong. That is what I should say. I should be a good boy.🙂
System IOS 11 is the best since white bread. 😉
Apple is the best. The one and only and they never have made any mistakes.😕
I hope they like my comment and you al can read it.😎
I’m running 11.2.5 on my ** new ** iPhone 8 & it’s still happening mid February 2018! Happens everytime with lengthy delays. Very frustrating as I’m frequently adding calendar events for work. When will Apple fix this? Regretting updating iPhone & not investigating the Galaxy 8
Hello.
Its not you must be to use your nice words to talk about Apple. They no need some words fake like this 😬. Sometime they made your post and your moods came down because you post some things meaning out side
of The WhitePaper Apple Production . There are the Trademarks hope you understand that some words you type and post in here are all the peoples in the world can read it. Even you had any abilities and possible to do more than with your technology knowledge also. You should just to call Apple or chat live with them when had any confused. And so thankful alot that you want to supposed some person to solve their problem. But how can you know they are will to perfectly to understand and do it in progress or will made anythings bad than before time. If all of the world who are smart also so we are made Apple to sale like this. Lol.😂 and they no need to have the support from other. So that please understand for them. And keep your support to other one via the allowed that we able to assist insdide the Whitepaper meaning. This is originally objectives for all the people in the world. Thanks
I’m sorry I find your English hard to follow.
If you are suggesting that I should be active in sorting the issue out with Apple customer support, I think the responsibility to fix things once detected (months ago) lies with the multi-billion dollar corporation and not its user community. Just like in all other industries.
I agree with you tusharfromlondon.
Apple never does anything wrong. Apple is good. Apple works hard to solve problems. They never fail.
I learned to say things like this to keep the, happy but you, me and millions know the truth.
Happy day Apple.
I don't believe you've every replied to me. However, you seem to have a comment immediately above mine. It doesn't make much sense but, as there's no indication it has been edited by the Hosts, that's certainly not their fault.
FWIW, this occurs on MacBooks using the latest version of High Sierra as well. I hope this isn’t a repeat comment however, don’t have time to go through 11 pages of comments, just like I don’t have time to wait to insert a location in the calendar. Sad that Apple has not addressed what I believe to be a very significant drain on user productivity.
I have the same issue and while the ZZ search workaround is ok it is time for the Apple team to fix up the poor code causing the “intuitive” search to hang so that it searches In the background. Can someone from Apple confirm this is in there system as a know issue/bug. I add 10-20appt a week and all require addresses so I waist 10sec per hang 10x20 = 2min a week x users effected.
Thanks. I have now submitted the bug report to Apple per your suggestion.
