How do I remove the music player from the lock screen in iOS 11?

I need to see my notifications. I don't use the music player... I will NEVER use the music player. It's taking up valuable real estate.

Thanks!

I'm confused. The Music player on the lock screen, only appears if you are actively playing something when you turn on the screen. If you have not been playing anything, or pause it and unlock the iPhone and then turn off the iPhone, the playback section should disappear. It will not disappear if you just pause from the lock screen and turn if off.

Otherwise its not there, and you just need to swipe up to get the notifications.

However, you'll always need to swipe up to see notifications though, and they'll take over the space used by the playback controls any way even if they are there. Notifications are no longer shown directly in the lock screen, and need to be revealed by swiping up regardless.

Hi

I had the same problem. I didn't have the music App openned, nor Spotify nor videos in Safari. What I did was to push play in the the music player (in the control centre) and the music that started playing was the music I was listening "before" (In Spotify), without the app being open. The solution was the following:
1.- Opened the Spotify App,
2.- Pressed pause from inside the Spotify App
3.- Double clicked on the home button, closed Spotify and voila! the Music player was not shown anymore in the lock screen.

Hope this helps!

I am new to iPhone and did not have this problem until 11.3 came down. I only use Pandora for music, so was confused by the music player on the lock screen. So far, this is working, but I only did this about 10 minutes ago:

Settings -> Music -> Toggle 'Show Apple Music' off, shut down and start up.

Music player continued to show on the lock screen until I powered the phone down. After re-starting, I launched Pandora, paused it and let the phone go to sleep. No music player on the lock screen when I pick up the phone.

Hope this helps.

Fixed it...Delete the music app...restart the phone...then it works and it will not show up again...However it appears this is a bug as there is now way to delete the lock screen music if the app exists. It comes back if you play music or turn on blue tooth. For now I deleted the music app as I do not play music on my iphone at all just blue tooth...definitely a bug.

So, I had this same question and reviewed and tried every answer I found. I am 99% sure they are all wrong and I have the correct answer now after several different tries. This is what I did....

Settings>>

Notifications>>

Music>>

Allow Notifications >> ON

Badge App Icon >> OFF

Show on Lock Screen >> OFF

Show in History >> OFF

Show as Banners >> OFF

Show Previews >> NEVER

Reboot device.

This has worked for me when nothing else would. The difference I found from other responses was the Show Previews option. Mine would always come back when my car bluetooth connected. I have driven my car several times now with the bluetooth connected and the music player not reappearing. Also, was able to connect to headphones jack without the player reappearing.

Hope this helps someone.

I have just had this same issue with the player appearing in my notifications, unused and def not open - the problem isnt actually the player - its notifications!!!

Go to Settings >

Notifications >

Scroll through the list to Music >

Click to open and then click beside 'Allow notifications' to turn Music notifications off...

You can also help it along if you edit your music library by removing the checked categories that appear in a list... (dont worry the main playlists from categories are all still there, just in the tiles that will remain... and you can do the reverse to get the 'list' back if you ever want to sort by album or artist or something but it seems you are prob all most like me and wont use it unless you purposely open it!)

Go to the Music app >

Click the bottom left icon for the library (if it doesnt open there automatically) >

Select Edit (top right corner) >

Uncheck all rows/categories (check boxes on the left side of the listed items) >

Click save (top right corner)...

Worked for me... good luck!!

The bug lies somewhere in the intricacies of Bluetooth connectivity. Here is the fix that has worked for me and several others. Unfortunately this thread is so long, the fix is listed way back in the pits of the earlier pages.

What you have to do, is go to your Bluetooth settings, and forget all of your Bluetooth devices.

Unpair them.

Forget them.

Disconnect them.

After you have done this, restart your phone and then you should be OK. Even when you reconnect tour Bluetooth devices, the music sheet will no longer permanently sit on your lock screen. It will be there when you need it and disappear when you don’t. You should be OK.

If you or anyone still has this problem Apple Care gave me a solution today that so far IS WORKING. I had tried all the various things others have put up here in response to this problem and none of those worked other than as a temporary fix. >> Go to Settings and then to >General, scroll down to >Reset then to >Reset All Settings. After you have reset all settings on the iPhone then press the >Volume Up Button once and the >Volume Down Button once and then hold the >Off Button until the >Slide Power Off screen shows up, slide the power off. After it shuts down completely then >Restart your iPhone. Since doing this I have used the music player as well as the Bluetooth in my car and it has not come back. Apple Care is scheduled to give me a call back on Thursday to see if I had any problems with it coming back. I don't know for certain but it's looking like it may be the fix.

I hate to be the bearer of bad news to this thread... but Apple help says this is the way they WANT the software to work. They ASSume that we all WANT the music player to take over half the lock screen and be pinned at the top of any other notifications, blocking us from seeing other notifications when any bluetooth device has recently (as in, during the past week...) used the music app.

The only way that would change is if enough people sent them a barrage of bug reports that they would understand that not everyone WANTS this music app thing to dictate to us what shows up on the lock screen.
