How do I remove the music player from the lock screen in iOS 11?
I need to see my notifications. I don't use the music player... I will NEVER use the music player. It's taking up valuable real estate.
Thanks!
iPhone 7 Plus, iOS 11.0.1

So is there an update on this?
This quite annoying and eating up real estate on the lock screen !!
Fix it Apple, we don’t need or want the music player control on our lock screens all the time !!!!!!!!
Yeah- I honestly think it's a bug in the operating system and my not affect every user - The controls are good to have on the lock screen if you are actively using a music app but they are there even when I'm not- everything is closed. I do use the Music App a ton- have lots of music downloaded and connect to many devices and not once have I had this issue before the update. Chat support tried lots of different tactics - It's their recommendation that I bring it into the store. It's on my lock screen right now...all apps are closed. I have the iPhone X Version 11.1
Hey! So I had this same issue, which is how I found your post. Somehow I just managed to get it to go away. I closed all my apps (with the double click home button and swipe up), I also opened safari and made sure all tabs were closed from there (read a post that said if you have a tab that could've been playing a video it will also stay on lock screen), then opened the music app and fully closed it again and now the music controls are gone from my lock screen. Not exactly sure what worked, but I figured I'd tell you what I did to see if it works for you.

The lock screen, should be entirely empty, until you swipe up. At least that's the way it works on my iPhone 7 with iOS 11.
No notifications, until they are swiped up or down.

I want the music app. How do I keep it there?
Over the weekend, I tried to replicate the “music player on lock screen” when using Bluetooth in my car. Unfortunately, my car doesn’t have Bluetooth (old people, old car, cassette adapter 😁). Anyways, here is what I did notice.
If you take a look at my post on February 14, 2018 @ 9:48 PM, the screen shot from my iPhone shows the settings that I chose, then rebooted my phone. The “music player on lock screen” has not returned even after using various audio features (audio jack, Bluetooth in home, music apps, video apps, etc.).
However, when I toggled off ALL options on the SETTINGS> NOTIFICATIONS> MUSIC menu (see screen shot below), then “rebooted” my phone, oddly the music player stayed on the lock screen no matter what I did!
Therefore, for me (and others) the settings from my February 14, 2018 post has solved the issue. I found that the key to making these changes take effect is rebooting the phone.
Good luck. Perhaps the next software update will alleviate this annoyance.
If I am not mistaken this is how your lock screen looks like (below) right? With the music player just stuck there.
Yeah it can be really frustrating to use your iPhone when you want to view your notifications in your lock screen but you can't. Also the fact that music player doesn't even play anything kinda like it's dead there doing absolutely nothing.
Here's what I tried and I have also managed to write a quick and simple step-by-step guide on this – how to remove the music player from the lock screen in iOS 11 with screenshots and extra resources to help other others who face such similar situation. :-)
Here's an excerpt from the guide:
How to Remove Music Player from Lock Screen in iOS 11: 8 Ways
It's best to go from 1-8 accordingly.
1. Just do this.
Step 1: Go ahead open up your Music app.
Step 2: Have you opened it? Alright. Now double click on your Home button (iPhone 8 or earlier) or swipe up from the bottom (iPhone X) to bring up your app drawer (the apps that are running behind).
Step 3: Finally all you have to do is just swipe up on the Music app to close it from your app switcher.
Voila! The Music app widget should go away from your lock screen.
However, if you find that this method proved useless, then you can…
2. Try Closing All Your Apps.
If you tried the above method of just closing the Music app, then it might help if you try to close all the other apps on your device as well.
The reason why this method might work is because the reason why the Music player is stuck in home screen could be because you played a video from your Safari app or your YouTube app or any other media playing app which might have got the music player stuck on your lock screen.
Step 1: Just follow the exact steps that is shown above and repeat it for every other app until all the apps are closed and removed from your app drawer.
Try it again to see if this has removed the music player from your home menu. Otherwise jump back into your Safari app and do this …
3. Close all the tabs in your Safari app.
Try closing all the tabs that you might have opened in your Safari app.
The reason the problem persists, again, could’ve been because you might have played a video in one of your tabs and the music player to play/pause that video might have gotten stuck on your lock screen.
So here’s what you do:
Step 1: Jump into your Safari app and tap on your bottom right hand corner to open up all your open tabs.
Step 2: One by one, make sure to remove each tab by tapping on the little X button that’s on its top left hand corner.
Note
Also jump into your private browser by tapping on Private that’s on the bottom left hand corner. From there make sure to remove any open tabs.
Step 3: Lastly, just remove Safari app from your list of apps running in the background by following the above steps.
Done. Now try again and see if the music player has been removed from your lock screen.
4. Try Turning Off and Then Back On.
Here’s how you can restart your iPhone or iPad.
If you’re on an iPhone X.
Step 1: Go ahead press and hold down on your Side button and either one of your Volume buttons until you see “Slide to power off” on your iPhone.
Step 2: Next, all you have to do is just slide to completely turn off your iPhone.
Step 3: After your iPhone X turns off, just press and hold your Side button again to turn it back on.
Done. You can try checking your lock screen to see if the music player has gone away.
If you’re on iPad, iPhone 8, 8 Plus or earlier.
Step 1: Go ahead press and hold down on your Top (or Side) button until you see “Slide to power off” on your iPhone.
Step 2: Next, all you have to do is just slide to completely turn off your iPhone.
Step 3: After your iPhone turns off, just press and hold your Top (or Side) button again to turn it back on.
Done. You can try checking your lock screen to see if the music player has gone away.
Note
Since you’re on iOS 11 or later, you can also turn off your iPhone by jumping into your Settings > General and then tap Shut Down to turn off your iPhone.
5. A Hard Reset.
A hard reset (or more commonly known as force restart) isn’t the the same as how you normally restart your device like you did above.
It’s different and has a little more gunpowder in it.
Here’s how you can force restart your iPhone.
If you’re on iPhone 8, 8 Plus or iPhone X.
Step 1: All you have to do is just press and then quickly release your Volume Up ➕ button.
Step 2: Now do the same for your Volume Down ➖ button. Press and quickly release.
Step 3: Next, follow up by pressing your Power button (it’s on the right hand side) and then holding it until the Apple logo appears on your screen.
Done.
If you’re on iPhone 7 or 7 Plus.
Step 1: Press and hold down on your Power button (Sleep/Wake) which is on the right hand side of your iPhone.
Step 2: Now, at the same time press and hold down your Volume Down ➖ button which is on the left hand side of your iPhone.
Step 3: Keep holding both buttons until the Apple logo appears. You may see the “Slide to power off” slider pop up midway through, just ignore it and keep holding down on both buttons.
Done.
If you’re on iPad, iPhone 6S, SE or earlier.
Step 1: Press and hold down on your Home button and your Power button.
Step 2: Keep holding down on your Home button and your Power button until the Apple logo appears.
Done.
Once you’ve hard reset your device you can try checking to see if the music player still remains in your lock screen. If that too didn’t work, then there’s still one last resort.
6. Time to DFU.
This is the deepest type of restore that you can for your iPhone and usually it’s the last resort to fix every problem you might get with your iPhone.
Now what does a DFU Restore do?
Well, when you perform a DFU Restore, it fixes your iPhone by restoring the very code that builds up/controls both the software and hardware of your iPhone.
But you don’t have to do this.
If you feel that a restore is not very much needed since this is such a small issue then you don’t have to do this and you can keep reading to try one of the other methods below. But if you’re willing to try absolutely anything to fix this problem then this is an option that you can certainly go for .
I have written a quick and simple step-by-step guide for you that comes with easy to understand explanation and pictures on how you can put your device into DFU mode.
7. Just Sit Back, Relax and Wait for the Next iOS Update.
You’ve tried everything above and you find it none of it did absolutely nothing to remove the music player from your lock screen.
If that is the case then all that you can do now is just wait for Apple to release a new iOS update to patch things up.
8. Then again you can always pay a little visit to you know who.
Maybe you just want to get this sorted as quick as you can because it might be driving you crazy.
Well, fear not.
You can pay a visit with the Genius Bar at your nearest Apple Store or Apple Authorized Service Provider. You can also contact Apple Support for help and instructions if your place doesn’t have a Apple Store or an Apple Authorized Service Provider nearby you.
I can't see the "show music" option

Ditto, this is very annoying. Seems like if it's a bug like this they should fix ASAP via an update.
Did you submit feedback?
The more people who let Apple know, the more likely it is to be changed.

If Apple does contact you, please let them know that even if we are playing music, or have something w/ music paused, blue-tooth, iTunes, Pandora, etc., we don't want that thing showing up on the lock screen unless we option-in for it. Thanks.
You should let them know yourself:
I resolved the issue by doing a hard boot:
It worked on my iPhone running iOS 11.2 and the banner has not returned.
Hope it helps!
I had this same issue. If you haven't resolved it yet, this worked for me.
How do I stop music on my iPhone lock screen?
After you do that, restart your phone, as it won't work right away until a restart has been done. Hope that helps!
I'm not sure if you're still having this problem, but this exact same thing was driving me absolutely CRAZY and I was losing my mind.
Anyway, here's what I did, and it seemed to fix it:
I was having the same issue on my iPhone 5se after software upgrade to iOS 11.2.5. After reading many replies on the Apple Community, here is what I did and it seems to have corrected the problem. I hope it works for you too:
Go to Settings, then Notifications. Scroll down to find Music, tap once and make the settings look like this:
Then back to home screen, close out all apps, and power down. Power back on after a minute or two. Enter passcode (or whatever YOU do after turning on phone). Press sleep button. Now press home button and hopefully no more music control banner! Worked for me :-)
Hey @michaelfromthiensville, This issue has 35 pages of text going over how turning it on and off didn't fix the issue permanently. For the original issue, turning it off and on would handle it for about 5 minutes until something "connected" to music was opened. The full solution was posted by @ilovegoldens3's solution on Page 34 @ Feb 14, 2018 9:48 PM. (posted below for quick viewing!)
P.s. if you what you did continues to work for you, that's awesome and just disregard this comment, but if it comes back, check that solution out. =D Have a good one and have a pint for me.
