How do I remove the music player from the lock screen in iOS 11?
I need to see my notifications. I don't use the music player... I will NEVER use the music player. It's taking up valuable real estate.
Thanks!

I'm confused. The Music player on the lock screen, only appears if you are actively playing something when you turn on the screen. If you have not been playing anything, or pause it and unlock the iPhone and then turn off the iPhone, the playback section should disappear. It will not disappear if you just pause from the lock screen and turn if off.
Otherwise its not there, and you just need to swipe up to get the notifications.
However, you'll always need to swipe up to see notifications though, and they'll take over the space used by the playback controls any way even if they are there. Notifications are no longer shown directly in the lock screen, and need to be revealed by swiping up regardless.
I had similar issue.... not sure if this has been answered, I got sick of reading the same thing and people not really understanding the issue.
This started happening to me to after iOS 11 update. I was able to get it to go away (for now, who knows if it will come back).
I ended up deleting the music app (even after deleting the app it still showed up on my lock screen). I then shut down and restarted my phone and then reinstalled the music app. It no longer appears on my lock screen.
Sorry, this is long, but I think progress was made after speaking with Apple Support yesterday. Here's what's happening currently:
I was at work yesterday when Apple called and had no Bluetooth devices to test with. I was asked to perform a reset and did that.
Settings > General > Reset > Reset All Settings
Just be aware, you will be prompted by virtually every app you launch to "allow notification" again or whatever...
This morning I went into Settings > Music and turned Show Music off. Then Settings > Notifications > Music and from the bottom of that screen and working my way up, set Show previews to Never and toggled all other settings to Off. I restarted the phone at this point.
From here, I powered up my Bluetooth speaker. Swiped down and found no Music Player showing. Launched Pandora and played some music. Swiped down again, no Music Player. Let the phone go to sleep, picked it up, no player on the Lock Screen. Powered down the speaker, again no player. Dismissed Pandora, still no player. So far, so good, right?
Here’s where it gets interesting. Went out to the car and powered up the dashboard, Bluetooth connected to the phone. Swiped down, no player. Set the source for the head unit to the iPhone. No player showing. Launched Pandora, swiped down and there was the Music Player. Strangely, the Music Player was showing the Bluetooth speaker and not the car as the connected device??? So, Bluetooth is still a bit buggy. Anyway, the display in the car was showing the Pandora track info which is good, because it was refusing to do that for a few days.
From here, I powered down the head unit, swiped down and the player was not there anymore. I'm calling this progress and I hope this helps other folks with this issue. I hope not to see the Music Player camped on the lock screen from here. Fingers crossed...
I haven’t done any other tests today, but I think it’s getting better.
The music player will appear on the iOS 11 notification screen when your iPhone is connected to a bluetooth device. It will disappear when you turn off bluetooth on your iPhone or disconnect the bluetooth connection.
Hopefully you didn't wade through all 14 pages of comments to find this.
Thanks for the advice. I just “forgot” all of my Bluetooth devices from my phone and it did not work for me. I also removed any and all “music” apps from my phone but the music sheet is still on the lock screen. As I am typing this, however, I restarted my phone and it is looking good. I think this did the trick.
To recap, forget Bluetooth devices and then restart the phone.
I have had this issue and I appear to have at least found a way to remove the music player banner in the locked screen. My solution will NOT stop the music banner app from showing up in the locked screen. This annoying music banner in the locked screen appears to happen when my iPhone automatically connects to ANY Bluetooth audio device (headphones, car stereo, portable speakers etc.).
FIRST: Settings > Notifications > scroll down to music > toggle off "allow notifications" Turn off phone and re-start (no need to re-set)
So, when this banner appears when it connects to any Bluetooth device, try this....
Settings > Bluetooth > scroll down and find the device its connected to > press "i" on the right side of that device > press "disconnect" - the banner should disappear in the locked screen
Turning off Bluetooth also prevents the banner from showing but since I often use wireless Bluetooth devices, it's difficult to keep my Bluetooth in the "off" position.
I hope this helps. It's still a pain, but at least I can remove the music banner in the locked screen and use the space for other notifications. I hope Apple had enough complaints that they will fix this bug in the next update.
The most humorous element to this discussion is the lack of understanding by those not having the problem, yet offering the same solution(s) as multiple others before them.
This is a bug in the recent OS... and seems to affect iPhone 7 users at a higher rate.
On the "wake" screen, the music widget appears with no connection being made or prompted. Further, the widget cannot be swiped to close. Using the settings in music to turn off AppleMusic and settings in notifications for music does nothing to eliminate this widget from the lock/wake screen.
None of the suggestions provide a permanent solution, as the widget reappears within days or hours, even without use of a music or mirroring application/use.
The only "solution" is to wait until Apple is aware of the bug and addresses it with an update to the OS.
We just solved this problem at the pub. I know this is the ultimate I.T. answer but "Did you try turning it off and turning it back on again?" I bet what happened is some third party app like Pandora or Spotify was abruptly disconnected when you changed networks and the notification was not removed. It worked for us.. Give it a shot.
Hopefully you have resolved this problem by now but if not, this is how I was able to get rid of it. Go to your Settings, then Notifications, and scroll down to Music. Inside the Music screen turn off all notifications. Afterwards turn your phone off and the back on. Before I restarted my phone it still was on the lock screen but after restarting it is gone. Hope this helps.
I had the same problem. Music was not running. NOTHING was running. I had forced every app to close, but the problem didn't go away. I had even restarted my phone, if I remember correctly. I finally tried the answer of "Volume-Up, then VolumeDown+Power" and powered off. When I powered it back on, it was gone. Might be a bug. Apple, are you listening?
Double tap the home button and swipe to get to the Music App. Swipe up on the app preview window to close it. The Music app will go away from your lock screen.
Problem fixed. I think. Deleted the music app and no more player and better battery life.

I got it removed by going to Settings - Music - Show Apple Music and sliding that option off. I also had to turn my phone off but when I restarted it, the music app screen was gone. Hope this works.
Hello! I just deleted the music app, made sure all Bluetooth devices were forgetten, and then restarted the iPhone. It worked great!
erase music app, do a full restart, you will no see the music player on the lock screen. then, if you want, download the app. it work for me.
