How do I remove the music player from the lock screen in iOS 11?
I need to see my notifications. I don't use the music player... I will NEVER use the music player. It's taking up valuable real estate.
Thanks!
iPhone 7 Plus, iOS 11.0.1

So is there an update on this?
This quite annoying and eating up real estate on the lock screen !!
Fix it Apple, we don’t need or want the music player control on our lock screens all the time !!!!!!!!
I'm confused. The Music player on the lock screen, only appears if you are actively playing something when you turn on the screen. If you have not been playing anything, or pause it and unlock the iPhone and then turn off the iPhone, the playback section should disappear. It will not disappear if you just pause from the lock screen and turn if off.
Otherwise its not there, and you just need to swipe up to get the notifications.
However, you'll always need to swipe up to see notifications though, and they'll take over the space used by the playback controls any way even if they are there. Notifications are no longer shown directly in the lock screen, and need to be revealed by swiping up regardless.

Now I'm confused. I just woke up my phone (by tapping the power button) to a screen full of notifications. So, at least for me, notifications are shown directly on the lock screen. Am I misunderstanding something?
I also will have the Music controls on the lock screen if I paused the music from the Control Center.

I am confused now as well. But this statement is the information on which I posted my fix. I made the assumption that the Music App had been paused.

That was added more for informational purposes. What I'm really confused by is Phil's statement about notifications on the lock screen.

I'm in the middle.of an athletic field right now. No apps open that would require music player, yet there is is taking up valuable real estate on my lock screen.
What else would be happening on your lock screen? Swipe up from the bottom and you'll see your notifications.
YouTube will also cause the player widget on the lock screen to appear.
I turned my phone off and turned it back on. It seemed to appear when I used my work to join a conference call from my car’s Bluetooth. I sure hope it’s gone because I use the iPhone 7 for Work alone and need to be able to review my emails in a glance.
I haven’t got a fix but this is happening to me, it is puzzling. I mean if I want to control music I just swipe up to use ‘control’ centre, I don’t need to see the music controls when I’m checking notifications.
Did you ever get a fix to this issue? I have a friend who has the same problem and it is driving her nuts! She doesn't have any music on her phone at all. The player keeps coming up on her lock screen and trying to load. It's draining her battery more than usual. This is happening on both her iPhone and her Apple Watch.

Are you talking about the same Steve Jobs that "fixed" the iPhone-4 antenna problem by telling users "Just don't hold it that way?"
You obviously have no clue what things happened while he was alive and suggesting that he would do things differently than what is done now is laughable.
Uhh... I don't curse on forums. If your autocorrect worked, or if you would have read the sentence for meaning, you would have known the "fuxed" should have been fixed.
PS... problem still not fixed. I still get the phone play screen, but that doesn't eat as much battery life as the music player. I hate iOS 11!
It's very annoying and no one from Apple has commented or even indicated that they are working on a fix. I deleted the Music app and it went away, but then came back. I don't use any music players on my phone. I use the Remote app for Apple TV, but that doesn't use a player. And even when I am away from the Apple TV app and my WiFi, the player is there.
Sorry you are going through this, but glad I'm not the only one!
That's why I'm confused. It's never blocked any of my notifications.
You keep repeating that you don't use it and will never use it. I don't know of anyone that uses 100% of the functions on the iPhone. There will ALWAYS be unused capabilities.
Oh well, this is the way that it works. There isn't much else that I can tell you.
It's not a problem if that doesn't affect your day to day. Image not having the ability to use other features like your important notifications but instead every time you open the dam thing you see the one feature your iPhone engineers didn't put there by purpose. It's a bug, if you are not here to help I don't really understand why you think it's worth the time to sit, read and reply. I do believe you have better things to do @Philly_Phan if that wasn't an issue would wouldn't be looking to fix it. (No offense @Philly_Phan, my apologies if it came out wrong).
Is anyone else having problems with Music app + earphones which playing anything other than Apple Music App?
Tips on how to fix any?
Thanks
Paul
There are many ways to temporarily remove the notification, but it will eventually come back. In my testing it always returns when you use the AppleTV remote app, but possibly using other forms of blue tooth also triggers it. Anyway it is a bug but a minor one :/
Hello Dimadis, thank you for your help but the problem is exactly that. It won’t go away no matter what you do. If you read the rest of the comments you will find more details.
Basically it won’t go away. Never.
