How do I remove the music player from the lock screen in iOS 11?

I need to see my notifications. I don't use the music player... I will NEVER use the music player. It's taking up valuable real estate.

Thanks!

I honestly don't care what it does regarding the music app... As the person who started the thread, I don't use Apple's music app. So that being said, turning off that option in the music settings will remove the music player widget from the lockscreen, only to return when you're using or having a music app in the background. If no music app is being used or is on background, music widget is not present at lockscreen.

So, I was trying to replicate the problem again by turning on that music option (Settings/Music/ Show Apple Music to on) and it seems that after turning off and then turning on that option the music player widget will not come back to the lockscreen permanently as it did previously but it will work as intended only showing up when you have a music app running or in the background. Could someone else verify this?

I'm sorry, I totally hear what your saying. I've been dealing with this issue for over a week. Turning off the Apple Music will only remove it from the music app... Your music from iTunes library will still be available to run. Removing the Apple Music Widget- will only remove the widget from the Notifications Center. You can set the widget to show on lock screen when you swipe to the right from your locked screen to get to your Notification Center (different from Control Center). The music player- what we are talking about (that is malfunctioning) is just controls- to skip through songs, start or stop music or adjust volumes. Two different things... I've tried what you suggested and it's still an issue. The reason it's such an issue it cause it shows up on the screen and I've actually accidentally started playing music- not good. There is no rhyme or reason to it. It's a bug.

Not sure why there's a "Solved" checkmark on this issue... it's far from solved. The stupid music app is hijacking the lock screen and taking half the screen, making it difficult to get to ACTUAL notifications. Does anyone know how to turn the thing off permanently so it doesn't come on every time I get out of the car?

Who's bright idea was it to think that EVERYONE wanted a music app to always be on their lock screen??? What are we, all fourteen year olds taking selfies???

So I have an answer to why it’s there but the real question is why it’s not allowed to be removed. Your phone has a control center which is a option when you go into settings; there you are able to select what you want in your Control Center widget (pull screen up, flash light etc); there you will see the screen monitoring, which it’s trying to connect to Apple TV, top right side you will see the loading app, which is what shows up at the lock screen. At the bottom you will see a note that states these are not removable. 1 more reason I’m hating iphones. They want to dictate what you want and can have. Smh

The only way to get rid of it is to turn Bluetooth off. Smh

Hi

I had the same problem. I didn't have the music App openned, nor Spotify nor videos in Safari. What I did was to push play in the the music player (in the control centre) and the music that started playing was the music I was listening "before" (In Spotify), without the app being open. The solution was the following:
1.- Opened the Spotify App,
2.- Pressed pause from inside the Spotify App
3.- Double clicked on the home button, closed Spotify and voila! the Music player was not shown anymore in the lock screen.

Hope this helps!

solved in that some engineer decided this is the way it must run.... thats not solving the problem. That's deflecting the problem. Most people have no desire to have the lock screen hijacked by an app that covers up the notifications. Stupid programming. There's no way to turn it off. Thus the first question is solved, but the problem is not solved.

It was the original poster of this thread who marked it solved. Only they know their reasons for doing so. They could have been satisfied with the answer (even if you aren't) or they could have marked it by accident. However, they're still the ones who did it. Not Apple.
