How do I remove the music player from the lock screen in iOS 11?
I need to see my notifications. I don't use the music player... I will NEVER use the music player. It's taking up valuable real estate.
Thanks!

I'm confused. The Music player on the lock screen, only appears if you are actively playing something when you turn on the screen. If you have not been playing anything, or pause it and unlock the iPhone and then turn off the iPhone, the playback section should disappear. It will not disappear if you just pause from the lock screen and turn if off.
Otherwise its not there, and you just need to swipe up to get the notifications.
However, you'll always need to swipe up to see notifications though, and they'll take over the space used by the playback controls any way even if they are there. Notifications are no longer shown directly in the lock screen, and need to be revealed by swiping up regardless.
I'm not sure if you're still having this problem, but this exact same thing was driving me absolutely CRAZY and I was losing my mind.
Anyway, here's what I did, and it seemed to fix it:
Yes fixed for me. I’m on iOS 11.2.2 on 7 Plus. Turned off music notifications then restarted phone. Didn’t have to delete any apps. Been a few days and it hasn’t came back. But I also haven’t played pandora since.
So idk how much this helps others, but I found a quick way to get the music widget off of my screen without having to turn my phone off and on. I was listening to Pandora in my car, and before I turned my car off to get out I tried to see if there was anything else I could do. I clicked the thing in the top right corner of the widget that brings up a list of options of what to connect to. I chose iPhone over my car Bluetooth. I really didn’t think it was going to work, but once I turned my car off, the widget was gone! I didn’t even swipe to close out of pandora. This didn’t work for me when it wasn’t already connected to a Bluetooth source, but if you can remember to switch speaker source before you turn that source off hopefully it will work for others too! My other option was just to turn my Bluetooth off and restart my phone and leave my Bluetooth off until I needed it so it wouldn’t randomly pop back up on my screen and be stuck there again.
I had the same problem but was able to fix it by doing the following.
1. Go to settings/music and turn Apple Music off.
2. Turn the iPhone off completely by clicking the control button on an iPhone X five times and turning it off. (or similar action for other types of iPhones)
3. Turn the iPhone back on.
4. Check the lock screen. You should not see the Apple Music widget.
5. If you want, turn Apple Music back on. The widget does not appear when the Apple Music player is off.
Good luck!
I had the same problem and figured it out what it was for me at least.
I was watching a Youtube video in safari. It must have gone to screen lock when I was watching it.
Even though that tab isn't open any more, it must have stuck there.
So, closed all apps, made sure I closed all tabs in safari, and for the **** of it opened a new tab with no video or audio, just a regular web page.
Closed that properly, checked the lock screen, annoying music gone from the notifications page.
Hey @michaelfromthiensville, This issue has 35 pages of text going over how turning it on and off didn't fix the issue permanently. For the original issue, turning it off and on would handle it for about 5 minutes until something "connected" to music was opened. The full solution was posted by @ilovegoldens3's solution on Page 34 @ Feb 14, 2018 9:48 PM. (posted below for quick viewing!)
P.s. if you what you did continues to work for you, that's awesome and just disregard this comment, but if it comes back, check that solution out. =D Have a good one and have a pint for me.
I was having the same issue on my iPhone 5se after software upgrade to iOS 11.2.5. After reading many replies on the Apple Community, here is what I did and it seems to have corrected the problem. I hope it works for you too:
Go to Settings, then Notifications. Scroll down to find Music, tap once and make the settings look like this:
Then back to home screen, close out all apps, and power down. Power back on after a minute or two. Enter passcode (or whatever YOU do after turning on phone). Press sleep button. Now press home button and hopefully no more music control banner! Worked for me :-)
In my case, It was the airplay connection with my apple tv. I’ve unplugged the power cable from the apple tv, and after a while, when the connection was lost, controls disappered.
I had the same issue. I don’t know if you already have the answer but I didn’t feel like looking through 7 pages. All I did to resolve was open the music app then close it out of multitasking.
I had a CHEAP Bluetooth headset connected. Once I ‘forgot’ that peripheral and did a hard reboot it went away. Probably Apple’s way of making off brands less desirable.
I had the same issue. Tried the above suggestions without success. Finally got it to go away by just turning my phone off and then back on.
I installed the music app back on and changed the notifications for the music app, De-Selected the lock screen and it does work. It should not be this hard! Thanks lbarclay7!
I had mine disappear after a hard reboot. Hold the volume down (decrease) button and the shut down button for approximately 10 secs until the apple logo appears.
I called Apple support. After doing a recommended “hard” restart on my iPhone the issue was resolved.
Was having the same issue with X. Found help on you tube, in settings open notifications, click on music icon and turn off "allow notifications" tab. Then restart phone. This solved our problem.
I deleted the music app, turned my phone off then back on. It’s now gone from my display screen.
