How do I remove the music player from the lock screen in iOS 11?

I need to see my notifications. I don't use the music player... I will NEVER use the music player. It's taking up valuable real estate.

Thanks!

Exactly. It seems like Apple is becoming a "one size fits all" design. So if you're not a 14 year old taking selfies, your business isn't wanted. Who asked them to hijack my lock screen with apps I don't even use?

I'm attempting to delete the music player and all music entirely. I'll just play my mp3s in my car from a memory stick. So the forced directive of using their music player (that brings them money from impulse music purchases) backfired. I'll just delete the program completely.

I think you've missed the point of the dialogue. Yes, you can get it to go away. But it restarts, often without the user knowing it. Then it restarts the lock screen app. Hard resetting of the phone will make it go away now. But as soon as you get in a car that accesses your music, or God forbid you listen to music intentionally, the lock screen app again takes over and requires several steps to be closed out.

So, I get in my car that uses the mp3 data through bluetooth. The lock screen is hijacked with better than half the screen covered up. Therefore, I can't glance at the screen to see my notifications while the music player is running. I get out of my car, its still running. To turn it off, I have to (1) unlock the phone. (2) find the music player. (3) start a song [since the music player isn't actually running - the car was running it] (4) figure out where they hid the stop button in this version. (5) turn off the music player. [oh but wait, it isn't over yet!] (6) use the start button to get to my running apps. (7) swipe off the music player. (8) turn off the phone.

Now, does that make sense to anyone but the millennial at Apple?

Dear Demo

You may have a level 10 rating but the fact remains that it does not work that way. If the music app is activated by a car bluetooth, you leave the car, and the app is still running (taking over the lock screen), .... it DOES NOT APPEAR WHEN YOU DOUBLE TAP THE HOME BUTTON.... THUS the problem that everyone is complaining about.

Many users are reporting the very same thing. They have to find the music app, start it, start a song, stop a song, and THEN double tap the home button to swipe it away.

The issue seems to be with those using a car radio that accesses your music. Once activated, it hijacks the lock screen with the music app and covers up notifications. Then when you leave the car, it's still there. Double tapping the home button doesn't work either since it doesn't show up as "active" The result is that you have to go start a song and then turn the app off to get the lock screen back to normal.

Thats good to know. I've come to the point of considering the deleting of all music on my phone completely. I'm going to try getting rid of Apple's Music App. It says it will delete all the music files. Anybody think that putting all the mp3 files on the phone through the file management system would result it it still working with the car radio?

Ok guys I never usually reply to any posts just read to help solve whatever issue I may have but thus has been driving me crazy for over a week and just tried something that actually worked! First I closed ALL my tabs on safari, then I closed ALL apps that were open. After that I did a hard reset of the phone and Voila, stupid player is gone! Currently using iPhone X running 11.2 public beta. Now I opened up the music app playing songs and all lock my screen and still no music player...very proud of my discovery so far lol....however....I haven’t connected to vehicle Bluetooth or something of the sort, could be what activates the glitch. Hope this works for you guys- Good luck !

I am new to iPhone and did not have this problem until 11.3 came down. I only use Pandora for music, so was confused by the music player on the lock screen. So far, this is working, but I only did this about 10 minutes ago:

Settings -> Music -> Toggle 'Show Apple Music' off, shut down and start up.

Music player continued to show on the lock screen until I powered the phone down. After re-starting, I launched Pandora, paused it and let the phone go to sleep. No music player on the lock screen when I pick up the phone.

Hope this helps.

I think that we're all finding ways to turn it off. The problem is that once a car radio or bluetooth device connects with it, the music player app then reappears on the lock screen and doesn't automatically turn off once you're no longer connected to the car/bt device.

So getting it to turn off just takes several steps. Getting it to stay off is impossible.
