How do I remove the music player from the lock screen in iOS 11?

I need to see my notifications. I don't use the music player... I will NEVER use the music player. It's taking up valuable real estate.

Thanks!

Taylanzo - thanks-that worked for me!

How annoying this was ...

Just as a FYI to all, my music player kept coming up on the locked preview screen post upgrading to the LATEST 11.x update on 12-06-17 and/OR while connected to anything outside the phone including my car via either Bluetooth OR Carplay, or to my BT headphones.

Glad this easy fix worked,

Again Taylanzo

THANKs!!

Demo, you've missed the point of the thread. First off, if a car system activates/(accesses data) the music player comes onto the lock screen whether you want it or not. Secondly, there is a strong chance that if the car started the music player, it doesn't actually appear when you double tap the home button... you have to go to the music player, start it, start a song, then double tap to get rid of it.

If this happens every time you get in and out of a car, it's extremely annoying. This is why I've deleted all the apple apps now. They seem to want to do the thinking for you and corral you into their way of using your phone, rather than a way that is practical for the user.

I have the EXACT same problem! I’ve done all work arounds (turned off airplay on Apple TV, deleted music app and Spotify, restarted a million times , etc.). The only thing I still do is use it for Apple TV remote. But this problem happens when I’m no where near home! Errr it’s so irritating. This year’s software release has been an epic fail.

This to all,

I give up on solving this without A new update from Apple I think it’s embeded in last weeks update.

For me that’s when this became an issue. I’m not moving my family’s updates to their iPhones until this is resolved.

But as we are all aware, be it windows, iOS, google, etc... every update fixes issues, however they also causes different issues.

I must say though Apple used to be the rock in this department, but thus far I would say it’s ALL status-quo...

Hope the next update will work correctly...

I found that this is happening any time I put my AirPods in, even if I don't start playing music. I can open a music player and everything will be fine, but the Music player on the lock screen does remain even after I've put the AirPods away and closed all music apps. When I swiped up on my iPhone X to show all open apps (only had Messages running), the bottom of the screen said Pandora was connected to my AirPods (but Pandora wasn't open). When I uninstalled Pandora the issue went away. It could be an annoying issue that's caused by some app that you have used to play audio in the past, so I would recommend checking if you have any visual indicators when double tapping your home button about whether or not any audio players are detected. In any case, the problem to me seems to be more at the OS level in this case, because if a third party app having an audio player detected is causing any sort of visual to appear on the lock screen, I would expect it to be the widget for the app causing the issue, not the Music App itself.

When I uninstalled Pandora, the "audio player" icon I talked about still appeared while I was viewing what other Apps were open while my bluetooth headset was in, but the Music App widget stopped appearing on the lock screen. So that seems to have been what it was for me. There's likely an incompatibility issue that you're experiencing with some other App. It's annoying and probably can be fixed on Apple's end, but we'll see if it's a big enough issue for them to feel it needs addressing.

1-On your iPhone or iPad, go to Settings > Music and turn off “Show Apple Music”

2-Force close the Music app by double pressing the home button and and swipe up on the Music app’s preview. The reopen again.

3-Go to Settings > iTunes & App Store > Your Apple ID > Sign Out in the popup menu that will appear. Now go to Settings > iTunes & App Store > Sing In and enter your Apple ID and password.

4-Restart your device.

While we appreciate your input, I think you've missed the whole dialogue here. Restarting the phone will make it disappear now. But as soon as it connects to a car, earbuds, or other bluetooth devices, it turns itself back on. And some have experienced problems with the fact that when on, it doesn't appear as active when you double tap the start button.

We're trying to find out if the user of the phone has the option of turning it off so that it doesn't keep coming back on and hijacking the lock screen.

yes. We all get that. But again, it keeps coming back on anytime the phone connects to a bluetooth device such as cars and earbuds. It's an annoyance to get out of your car and not be able to see notifications since the lock screen is hijacked. And while driving or even as a passenger in a car that uses the phone, notifications don't appear because the lock screen is filled with a music player that none of us need on the lock screen.

Why do I need it on the lock screen when the car radio shows all the data I need to see. What I need is to glance at a phone and see if a notification from my work / employment is worth pulling over and addressing or not. I can't do that if the whole lock screen is filled with a stupid music player that I wasn't even using.

OMG! Is it always this difficult to get any support whatsoever from Apple? Here's what I've attempted so far:

1. This forum - As yet, no one has found a method to stop the recurring Music Player on Lock Screen. Not for a lack of trying and appreciate everyone's suggestions, but this is beyond all of us mere mortals, I think.

2. Apple's Support site - if you attempt to open a case and claim an issue with an app, it asks which of the apps you DOWNLOADED that's giving you an issue. As if pre-loaded apps couldn't possibly be a problem. Went the Music route and ended up in iTunes support where they politely suggested I open a case at Apple's Support site and in no way attempted to re-route my concern to the appropriate application team. So much for online support...

3. Twitter @AppleSupport - DM'd them with the concern and they suggested if I was having difficulty with the public beta, I should visit a link. I'm sorry, is 11.3 considered beta??? AGAIN, no attempt to actually answer the concern was made.

OMG!!! How useless can their support be???
