How do I remove the music player from the lock screen in iOS 11?
I need to see my notifications. I don't use the music player... I will NEVER use the music player. It's taking up valuable real estate.
Thanks!
iPhone 7 Plus, iOS 11.0.1

So is there an update on this?
This quite annoying and eating up real estate on the lock screen !!
Fix it Apple, we don’t need or want the music player control on our lock screens all the time !!!!!!!!
The latest update does NOT fix this bug, and it is ABSOLUTELY a bug. Any bluetooth interaction causes "iphone music" to appear on the lock screen even if NO apps are running whatsoever. iOS is completely riddled with bugs. Android is finally the more reliable mobile platform.
I have ICE (in case of emergency) info on my lock screen. The music widget covers that up. So yes, it is in the way. Also, many of us have favorite photos on our lock screen. Why should they be covered up?
I have ICE (in case of emergency) info as well as contact details in case my phone is lost. So yes, the music widget is covering up more important stuff I want displayed. Also, many of us have favorite photos on our lock screens. Why should they be covered up?
Had this stupid problem too. Not sure what I did. I tried just about everything I saw and it didn't work. I then shut off my phone and restarted it and VIOLA, it was gone. Hopefully it does not return... Good luck to you.
Rebooting the phone won’t work. Deleting the Music app won’t work. What will work or at least work for me, was going to SETTINGS>MUSIC on that page the title is “Apple Music” the first option under that is “show music “ turn that off and then turn it back on. After that my music controls were back to normal.
I hate to be the bearer of bad news to this thread... but Apple help says this is the way they WANT the software to work. They ASSume that we all WANT the music player to take over half the lock screen and be pinned at the top of any other notifications, blocking us from seeing other notifications when any bluetooth device has recently (as in, during the past week...) used the music app.
The only way that would change is if enough people sent them a barrage of bug reports that they would understand that not everyone WANTS this music app thing to dictate to us what shows up on the lock screen.
I did a hard reboot of my iphone and viola it went away. It was h*cken annoying,
Press and hold the home button and power button until you see the apple logo (or whatever you do to the newest models)
Not sure if that will work forever....?
yes.. we all have tried the hard reboot. But as soon as you get in a car or use bluetooth earbuds, it comes back. We've tried deleting the music app. we've tried turning of music notifications and show Apple music button.
None of it works because Apple WANTS it to work this way, regardless of what the user wants.
They are supposed to ring me to troubleshoot this afternoon. Let’s see if I get the same story.
They initially asked me to reset my phone. I directed them to this thread and asked if they were going to instruct 900+ people to reset their phones. I see the count of people having the same issue is over 1200 today.
I will do my best to convince them a patch is needed. This software’s behavior is just stupid. If you weren’t playing music, why would you need this thing on your screen???
Wish me luck...
Yeah... I did the online chat thing a few weeks ago. Got me nowhere. Ultimately after a couple of hours online chatting with people who were clearly not capable of understanding the issue, one "genius" told me that it was the way it was intended to work. They all send you links that lead to there useless "help" pages that have nothing to do with the issue and links to feedback pages that are for the wrong device.
While I'd be hopeful that you might get through, I'm certainly not holding my breath.
Good luck! If you do get an answer, let all 1,200 of us know!
If Apple does contact you, please let them know that even if we are playing music, or have something w/ music paused, blue-tooth, iTunes, Pandora, etc., we don't want that thing showing up on the lock screen unless we option-in for it. Thanks.
pardon the eye roll... but yes. We all get that you can restart the phone and it goes away. Had you read the entire thread (or even a portion of it) you would know that it comes back as soon as it hits a car bluetooth or bluetooth earbuds. Shutting the phone down completely and doing a complete restart every time you get out of the car does not "solve the issue."
I went Settings > Notifications > Music and turned off "Allow Notifications." Haven't seen the music player on my lock screen in a couple of days since. (One of the music notification options is "Show on Lock Screen.")
I had similar issue.... not sure if this has been answered, I got sick of reading the same thing and people not really understanding the issue.
This started happening to me to after iOS 11 update. I was able to get it to go away (for now, who knows if it will come back).
I ended up deleting the music app (even after deleting the app it still showed up on my lock screen). I then shut down and restarted my phone and then reinstalled the music app. It no longer appears on my lock screen.
Okay... yes... here we go again. Had you read the thread before commenting you would know that MANY people have stated the very same thing. AND you would know that the moment your phone hits a car bluetooth or bluetooth earbuds it comes BACK.
Please consider reading about the topic before commenting.
