How do I remove the music player from the lock screen in iOS 11?
I need to see my notifications. I don't use the music player... I will NEVER use the music player. It's taking up valuable real estate.
Thanks!
iPhone 7 Plus, iOS 11.0.1

So is there an update on this?
This quite annoying and eating up real estate on the lock screen !!
Fix it Apple, we don’t need or want the music player control on our lock screens all the time !!!!!!!!
Apparently (from what I was told by an apple rep) this happens if you have Pandora on your phone (not if you listen to it but if you have it on your phone period)... they have not updated their app so it cause glitches with iOS11
lol.... yes of course. 24 pages of this thread and nobody tried that! except for the other 100 replies from people that haven't read the thread who said the same thing and discovered that it doesn't work. (insert eye roll here!)
wish that was the case... but it's not. I've never used and do not have a Pandora app on my phone, iPad, iMac, MacBook air etc... Don't even care to ever have Pandora. So the apple rep was blowing smoke. It's broken and they don't want to admit that they can't fix the bug.
NO!! A temporary solution is not a solution! Users can't be expected to restart their phones everytime some stupid bug (or worse, deliberate code) in the latest update of OS is triggered to cause the same fault. Several music players, including streaming material via Safari, can cause this, over and over again, even if you restart. It's almost like Apple is trying to push for Apple music usage by involving the app in things users don't want it involved in.
I uninstalled the music player a few days ago. Still having the music player camped out on my lock screen.
However, today updated my iPhone 8 Plus to 11.2.2.
Preliminary test a few minutes ago: Connected to Bluetooth in the car, no player showing on the notification screen. Played music via Pandora, no player showing. Turned off the car, no player, swiped away Pandora and no player.
I like it like this! Hope this is the result of the latest patch and never see that stupid thing again...
First, close all the apps. Then, lock, and unlock the screen again. When you see the music app, click the play button. (there will be nothing to play since you closed all the apps) Then lock the screen again. When you go to unlock it again, it should be gone.
I am having this issue with both Music and Audible audio book player. I have tried all the suggestions at least once, and the thing continues to come up for either music or audible. Extremely annoying. Anyone???
Last night I got an update from apple for my iPhone 7 plus. This morning I reloaded Pandora (which someone on the forum suggested I do). I have connected bluetooth to my car which is what brings on the music player in the lock page. I've connected 5 times today and no music player. I suspect that this update I got last night fixed it.
If you haven't received the update yet, connect to iTunes and ask it if there is an update on your connected phone.
wow... fantastic.... I wish someone would have tried that earlier on all 25 pages of this thread. (eye roll.... cause that "fix" has been mentioned on all 25 pages of this thread and it doesn't work. It turns it off now, but it comes right back on when the player hits a bluetooth device.)
Read the thread before commenting.
So, you’ve fixed the situation with the music player? I have been dealing with the very same thing since downloading iOS 11... I deleted the app too, but it’s still there. It’s obnoxious. I feel like there must be a setting, but I’ve tried every place I could think of and nothing... Any additional advice?
Yes fixed for me. I’m on iOS 11.2.2 on 7 Plus. Turned off music notifications then restarted phone. Didn’t have to delete any apps. Been a few days and it hasn’t came back. But I also haven’t played pandora since.
This is a very annoying bug. My iPhone is 6S Plus running iOS 11.2.2. I don't use Apple Music at all. I use Pandora through Apple Car Play in my car. ... The music player on the lock screen goes away for a while after reboot, but always starts reappearing after I use Pandora.
I tried every suggestion I could find in the comments and nothing worked for me. Closed all tabs in safari, opened anything that accessed my speaker which was only pandora and YouTube, played it, paused it, swiped it away. Didn’t work. The only thing that worked I turned off my Bluetooth and turned my phone off and back on. No more music widget on lock screen. From what I’ve read it will probably be an issue again as soon as I play music from my phone in my car. Before I had an iPhone I had to restart my android every so often to get it run better, and all my iPhone friends claimed they never had to do that. NOW iPhone has to be restarted everytime you’re simply done listening to music just to get the dang music widget to go away. Very frustrating and very inconvenient.
Just in case people haven’t gone back far enough through the comments...
What worked for me (even before the latest software update) was to UNPAIR or “forget” all of my Bluetooth devices. Then restart the phone. Then pair Bluetooth devices as needed and the music player widget no longer stays on my lock screen.
Hope this helps!
So much for 11.2.2.
Again, I uninstalled Apple Music a couple of days before 11.2.2 was released, but after getting in and out of the car a few times today -- without ever streaming any music at all -- the STUPID PLAYER IS BACK ON THE FRIKKEN LOCK SCREEN.
Seriously Apple, you can't do any better than this???
Why did I spend all this money to switch from Android? It is literally no different.
Sad.......
