How do I remove the music player from the lock screen in iOS 11?
I need to see my notifications. I don't use the music player... I will NEVER use the music player. It's taking up valuable real estate.
Thanks!
iPhone 7 Plus, iOS 11.0.1

This quite annoying and eating up real estate on the lock screen !!
Fix it Apple, we don’t need or want the music player control on our lock screens all the time !!!!!!!!

Would you be confused if you had a gnarly wart on your nose...it isn't harming anything...but for some strange reason you wanted it removed just because you don't want it there and you didn't request that it be there?
Oh, that's your problem! I thought that it was the Music Player.
Clearly a bug, or worse, a very very bad choice of design. Suddenly using bluetooth means the iphone owner is forced to see the apple music wigdet on lock screen. Apple music/iTunes has increasinlgy dissapointed, to the degree that I've done what I can to avoid it since a number of years, eventhough I'm a very keen music lover. Now it's forced upon me in this nonsense way, almost tauntingly.... Sorry "TheSquirt", looks like we'll have to wait for bug fix in a later update.. (Telling people to restart their phones and/or to stop the app is counter productive. The problem reappears, it's a waste of time.)
No way to fix..it is a bug only way is to delete the app completely and reboot the phone..otherwise it just comes right back..I tried everything on here and it doesnt work except delete the app and reboot the phone...has to be a bug on the IOS
The only way I've found is to hard boot the iPhone and then it disappears. I don't listen to Music anymore on what used to be iTunes. I only listen to Pandora through Apple CarPlay. If I delete the Music app, then all the icons on the Apple CarPlay rearrange themselves ... which is also what I don't want.
My music player pops up on my lock screen anytime my car’s Bluetooth connects to my phone. After it connects I can’t get rid of it until I do a hard reset. It’s very annoying to have to do that everytime I go in and out of my car.
Not to worry. The fix (until Apple addresses the bug with a software update) is to:
1 - unpair your car’s Bluetooth from your phone.
2 - Restart your phone.
3 - Then pair your car’s bluetooth again.
Now, the music player sheet on the lock screen will go back to disappearing after you get out of your car and away from the Bluetooth source automatically.
You only have to do this process once. The bug lies somewhere in your paired Bluetooth device settings. Unpairing and setting up the Bluetooth device as new eliminates the bug.
Good luck!
Sadly, this did not work. When I got out of my car (I.e disconnected from its Bluetooth) the music player was still stuck on my lock screen, and I had to do reset he phone again...oh well, I’ll wait until Apple fixes the issue w/ an update
I noticed that the music control shows up when I dock my phone onto a speaker, and if I undock the phone when the screen is off, the control stays on when I am on the lock screen. But if I undock the phone when the screen is on, the control goes away! Yaeh. Hope this works for yoy
Yes, I unpaired my phone to my car. Restarted my phone, and re-paired the phone to my car.
I was saying the next time I got out of my car (I.e disconnected from its Bluetooth) the same issue persisted.
Depending on the programs you use the player will eventually come back. There are numerous games, websites (in Safari) and other apps that may try to use it again.
What you will have to do in that case is close all apps that could potentially use it. This includes some apps that play ads every so often in full screen. You also want to close the tabs in Safari that want to play a video or sound, like YouTube for example.
And of course you will have to stop Apple Music from playing.
Following all these steps, you shouldn‘t see the player when you don’t want to.
If you do, feel free to let me know. I don’t want to spread false suggestions.
My hubby just had the exact thing happen for weeks. So what I did was delete the iTunes app off of his phone and then I restarted his phone and turned back on and it was gone. He doesn't use iTunes music anyway. Hope this helps somebody. 😉
Changing the zoom on my phone, and then changing it back worked for me. You do this by going to Settings, Display and Brightness, and then go to the bottom and select View. Change your zoom to Zoomed, let your iPhone restart, and then change it back. This advice was given to me by an iPhone tech when I wasn’t getting any notifications on my lock screen, and it has worked for this problem for over an hour now; longer than anything else has worked.
Here is how I removed it from the lock screen, at least temporarily. I open music app double clicked home button and swiped the app up to remove. I then turned off the phone by holding on/off button down until “swipe to shut down” is displayed. Swipe it to shut down. Wait for 30 seconds and turn phone on by holding the on/off because wn until the phone turns on. One caveat is I have seen other posts saying it may still reappear later. Good luck.
I also had this issue but never used the music player. I even deleted my music app and it was still there until I closed down all my tabs and then finally restarted my phone. Now it's finally gone. I'm not sure if deleting the app was necessary or if just restarting the phone would have been sufficient. Either way, it's gone now at least.
Apparently (from what I was told by an apple rep) this happens if you have Pandora on your phone (not if you listen to it but if you have it on your phone period)... they have not updated their app so it cause glitches with iOS11
