How do I remove the music player from the lock screen in iOS 11?

I need to see my notifications. I don't use the music player... I will NEVER use the music player. It's taking up valuable real estate.

Thanks!

Clearly a bug, or worse, a very very bad choice of design. Suddenly using bluetooth means the iphone owner is forced to see the apple music wigdet on lock screen. Apple music/iTunes has increasinlgy dissapointed, to the degree that I've done what I can to avoid it since a number of years, eventhough I'm a very keen music lover. Now it's forced upon me in this nonsense way, almost tauntingly.... Sorry "TheSquirt", looks like we'll have to wait for bug fix in a later update.. (Telling people to restart their phones and/or to stop the app is counter productive. The problem reappears, it's a waste of time.)

The only way I've found is to hard boot the iPhone and then it disappears. I don't listen to Music anymore on what used to be iTunes. I only listen to Pandora through Apple CarPlay. If I delete the Music app, then all the icons on the Apple CarPlay rearrange themselves ... which is also what I don't want.

Not to worry. The fix (until Apple addresses the bug with a software update) is to:

1 - unpair your car’s Bluetooth from your phone.

2 - Restart your phone.

3 - Then pair your car’s bluetooth again.

Now, the music player sheet on the lock screen will go back to disappearing after you get out of your car and away from the Bluetooth source automatically.

You only have to do this process once. The bug lies somewhere in your paired Bluetooth device settings. Unpairing and setting up the Bluetooth device as new eliminates the bug.

Good luck!

Depending on the programs you use the player will eventually come back. There are numerous games, websites (in Safari) and other apps that may try to use it again.

What you will have to do in that case is close all apps that could potentially use it. This includes some apps that play ads every so often in full screen. You also want to close the tabs in Safari that want to play a video or sound, like YouTube for example.

And of course you will have to stop Apple Music from playing.

Following all these steps, you shouldn‘t see the player when you don’t want to.

If you do, feel free to let me know. I don’t want to spread false suggestions.

Changing the zoom on my phone, and then changing it back worked for me. You do this by going to Settings, Display and Brightness, and then go to the bottom and select View. Change your zoom to Zoomed, let your iPhone restart, and then change it back. This advice was given to me by an iPhone tech when I wasn’t getting any notifications on my lock screen, and it has worked for this problem for over an hour now; longer than anything else has worked.

Here is how I removed it from the lock screen, at least temporarily. I open music app double clicked home button and swiped the app up to remove. I then turned off the phone by holding on/off button down until “swipe to shut down” is displayed. Swipe it to shut down. Wait for 30 seconds and turn phone on by holding the on/off because wn until the phone turns on. One caveat is I have seen other posts saying it may still reappear later. Good luck.

I also had this issue but never used the music player. I even deleted my music app and it was still there until I closed down all my tabs and then finally restarted my phone. Now it's finally gone. I'm not sure if deleting the app was necessary or if just restarting the phone would have been sufficient. Either way, it's gone now at least.
