How do I remove the music player from the lock screen in iOS 11?
I need to see my notifications. I don't use the music player... I will NEVER use the music player. It's taking up valuable real estate.
Thanks!
iPhone 7 Plus, iOS 11.0.1

So is there an update on this?
This quite annoying and eating up real estate on the lock screen !!
Fix it Apple, we don’t need or want the music player control on our lock screens all the time !!!!!!!!
music play is off as well as all notifications. I have to turn my phone off and on several times a day. I think it has something to do with bluetooth. Although I can't be certain. It pops up in the car when connected to bluetooth but once it's disconnected it never goes away. sometimes it pops up after it's been disconnected from the car
This seemed to be worth posted at the beginning instead of page 17. I have had the same problem for two weeks. One person said that using an Apple TV app caused his, and I used it with youtube right before my lock screen problem. Not sure on this part.
I have no idea why this fixed my problem, but it did. I did a complete power down holding the side button and then swiping the power down bar. My phone was not plugged in. I held down the bottom button and plugged the phone in with my cable. When it came up, the music player was gone from my lock screen. I had powered down the phone several times, with no luck. This plugging it in while booting it up seemed to make a difference. I saw this in a What to Do if your phone locks up while doing an ISO upgrade. I don't seen any correlation, but I do know that mine is now fixed.
Good Luck everyone.
Same problem. What seems to have worked for me: Launched music. Was directed to supply my Apple ID for access to my music library, which I did, I think in Settings. After that, the annoying lock screen Music gadget was gone.
I had previously turned off notifications to no avail.
Solution persisted through bluetooth and Apple TV connections.
Fingers crossed that it does not come back, though not holding breath.
That only works if the music player is actually running in the background. In my case, nothing is running. I have swiped up on everything and it is all off and the Music App is still covering up everything on my lock screen. I can shut off my phone completely and it goes away for a few minutes after turning the phone back on but then it just shows up again the second I use my phone for anything at all.
Halle-frigggin’-lujah...
settings/notifications/music/turn off all notifications fixed it for me.
I tell you, I gave up Android because of all the bugs, and rejoiced at my first iPhone, because it was so trouble free. Between this, figuring out all of the battery drain issues, and the flashlight bug on my iPhone 6s after the 11 update... Apple is very, very close to losing my business. 😡
None of the above provide a long-term solution for me.
It seems to come back anytime my phone connects with a device (car, speaker, etc.) via bluetooth.
Sure would be great to get a response from Apple on this. Turning off all notifications to solve this problem is a less than desirable solution.
I had this same issue and it is very annoying! However, I figured out how to fix it.
1. go to Settings
2. then Notifications
3. find the music app. mine says com.apple.music
4. click that then turn off Allow Notifications. (should be at the very top)
5. restart your phone
6. Enjoy your phone without the annoying music crap on the lock screen.
Hope this helps.
Aaaaaaaaaaand. again. You failed to read the entire 17 pages of the thread, filled with people telling us to do exactly what you just stated.... and 17 pages of people like me telling them that as soon as you hit a bluetooth connection again (cars, earbuds, etc...) it comes right back onto the lock screen. So no. Clicking "Allow Notifications", does not correct the problem. It just turns it off until the next time your car starts it.
Hello, I had the same problem. I have followed the open the music player, then double click on the home button the swipe up on the music player to close it. Just like you, It did not work for me either. BUT! What i have noticed is that there is nothing to play on the music player stuck on the lock screen. So i opened the music app and started one of my songs. Then double clicked the home button and swiped up to close the music app. And that worked.
It is definitely a bug, something keeps the music app stuck on the lock screen. The only thing i have done is to unplug my earphones without stopping or closing the music app. Might have nothing to do with it though.
I have just had this same issue with the player appearing in my notifications, unused and def not open - the problem isnt actually the player - its notifications!!!
Go to Settings >
Notifications >
Scroll through the list to Music >
Click to open and then click beside 'Allow notifications' to turn Music notifications off...
You can also help it along if you edit your music library by removing the checked categories that appear in a list... (dont worry the main playlists from categories are all still there, just in the tiles that will remain... and you can do the reverse to get the 'list' back if you ever want to sort by album or artist or something but it seems you are prob all most like me and wont use it unless you purposely open it!)
Go to the Music app >
Click the bottom left icon for the library (if it doesnt open there automatically) >
Select Edit (top right corner) >
Uncheck all rows/categories (check boxes on the left side of the listed items) >
Click save (top right corner)...
Worked for me... good luck!!
While it may have worked for you.... apparently you're the exception to every other person posting on this thread.... it does not work under the new OS. Yes, you can click all those fancy buttons to your heart's delight, but when you get in a car the next time, it's right back to where you were.
It's clearly a bug that some Apple genius put there under the ASSumption that we all wanted a music player on our lock screen. Just like the ASSumed that we all wanted 'selfie" albums and the creepy face id thing that scans through your pictures and identifies people. Maybe it's time to move away from Apple and Google so that we can have a phone rather than a toy.
I dont understand why it hasnt worked for you... but let me very clear... i never said it would work for everyone, only that it was what I found out that has worked for me... your tone was somewhat offensive and uncalked for given this is just all ofvus in the same boat trying to figure the mess out for each other... I didnt have to share at all yet thats who I am therefore I offer this additional info in case you havent already been down that path.
I am also on the latest ios 11.2.1 upgrade, using a vehicle bluetooth and no longer have the issue... perhaps it might be worth checking the bluetooth and the settings for it both on the bluetooth equipment (that you have turned the actual blutooth device off rather than just walking away?) and/or on your phone (possibly its something in the bluetooth connection settings automatically picking up the bluetooth signal where maybe you havent gone far enough away from the device for the phone to fully disconnect?)
See if changing the bluetooth connection settings in settings/general/audio can be taken off auto select output - it may have a bearing on whats going on... or not
Please be more patient and kind with your remarks... I dont have to help but I chose to because Im aware of the frustration it causes, if I'm going to get rude responses for just trying to help then I may not bother to share anymore... even if I know a fix worked for me....

Don't let the unpleasantness and sense of entitlement that some people express get to you. You're doing a great job.
Best of luck.
I'm on Verizon and have the same issue. Sounds like a bug in the new OS as you suggested.

How do I remove the music player from the lock screen in iOS 11? |
I showed this “bug” to a genius at an Apple store today and they verified it as a bug that would hopefully be fixed in a future update. On on a side note, I am wondering if it is part of the carrier settings since I am on Sprint and I saw that others with this issue have posted screenshots from their Sprint iPhones too. |

To remove the music player from your lock screen, try the following:
1) Go to Settings --> Notifications --> Music
2) Turn off "Allow Notifications"
3) Go back to Settings
4) Double-press Home button and close Settings
5) Press Home button and Power button until phone reboots
6) Check your Lock Screen to verify the music player is no longer showing
7) If this works, you can re-enable "Allow Notifications" for the Music section now.
If the above does not work, try the following:
1) Go to Settings --> Music
2) Turn off "Show Apple Music"
3) Go back to Settings
4) Double-press Home button and close Settings
5) Press Home button and Power button until phone reboots
6) Check your Lock Screen to verify the music player is no longer showing
7) If this works, you can re-enable "Show Apple Music" for the Music section now.
I hope this helps. It worked for me.
