Yahoo email not working in mail app with iOS 11

My yahoo email is not updating the inbox after I upgraded to iOS 11.0.1. The junk (spam) email still works but not the inbox. I have removed it and rebooted several times. The yahoo mail app works fine but I do not want to use it permanently. Any thoughts?

I've been having this issue for the last two iOS updates so I find it hard to believe it's a Yahoo! issue. Something Apple changes seems to be causing issues with the ability to get email. Not Happy!

After trying many things and nothing working I find out yahoo up their secruity big time. This is how I was able to fix my issue and hope it works for you.

1: delete account off iPhone

2: restart phone

3: log in to yahoo account through browser.

4: select allow apps with low secruity under your Yahoo settings on the website.

5: create an account key by following the instructions. You will be asked to download the Yahoo App from the App Store. Download it once your done u can delete it.

6: once u have created and verified you can add your account to you iPhone through your phone settings like you normally would have.

7: once u add it your account key will pop up verifying it’s you adding this account to your iPhone. You select yes and boom your done! It’s working for me so far and I’m on IOS 11.2.5 on an iPhone 6s Plus.

I'm happy to hear that Verizhoo! is in the process of upgrading their shoddy security, but I don't believe this is a security issue: if it were, I would either get ALL of my email, or none of it. I was getting SOME email in SOME folders -- others, none at all. I'd see system messages that mail was downloading and then nothing would appear. Most messages would render, some wouldn't. Some would say "this message has no content" (even though they did) and others worked fine. ALL messages download and render just fine using a browser.

My solution is that I turned off notifications for the Apple mail app, moved it out of the dock, and put the yahoo! mail app in its place -- it works perfectly. Maybe someday if Apple can fix it's broken stuff, I'll put it back, but I have to say -- I was reluctant to install the yahoo! app, but so far I'm pretty happy with it -- it looks better, I don't find the ads intrusive, and best of all -- IT WORKS.

Yahoo's (mail) servers are not "down" -- I've had a steady stream of mail on my phone since deprecating the Apple Mail app and replacing it with Y!'s on Friday. Mail via WWW is similarly non-disrupted. What MIGHT be down (or more likely, disabled) is the apparatus Y! uses to authenticate access to mail via the Apple app. Where are you seeing this notification/information?

Finally receiving my emails again. I have a new problem I just replaced my iPhone due to the battery issue at their expense! I waited a few days before downloading the update iso 11 update. The charge prior to this updatel lasted all day. I did the download of 11 and now the charge doesn’t last a morning. I’m seriously considering a different phone company next go round! Apple has loss their way since Steve Jobbs death 😡

I followed the advice of one of the posters to enable Yahoo Account Key and download Yahoo Mail app. Even though they don't call it a Two-Step Verification, in fact, it is exactly that. Now to get a web access to Yahoo mail I have to type in a code sent by SMS or by a pop-up from Yahoo mail app. I have also enabled the Allow apps that use less secure sign in option.

After that, I deleted Yahoo mail on both my iPhone and iPad and re-created them using built-in Yahoo as a provider. Everything started working at first. Later I turned off the use of Yahoo Account Key so now I can log into Yahoo mail within a browser using my original password. Yahoo mail continued working on my iPhone and iPad but later I ran into problems on iPad.

Yahoo mail does not download on iPad! Today (Thursday) I checked my Inbox only to find out the latest emails shown date back to Monday. I don't know why Yahoo does not work on iPad the way it does on iPhone. Later today I managed to force Yahoo to download on iPad but it took a lot of effort. The bottom line is the above method does not reliably work on iPad.

I had this issue with one yahoo account while the others worked fine. Deleting and reinstalling it didn’t help. I changed it’s fetch new data setting from fetch to manual and scrolled to the bottom to the oldest emails and scrolled back to the top and it updated.

My other yahoos fetch settings that we’re set at manual never had a problem.

I have had this problem on both iPad and iPhone. Contacted support and the got me to reinstall account. Worked for a couple of days them away again. Done this several times and it works for a while then nothing again. Getting very frustrated. Have used yahoo and ipad and iphone for years with no problem. Was told if this didn't work must be a yahoo problem.

Yahoo is totally broken on iPhone/Apple. I have tried everything for last 2 months - nothing seems to work consistently - that is the problem. WebMail and apps are not in Sync - delete/read does not sync up. To top it Contacts and Calendar are totally broken.

It does not matter problem is at Apple or Yahoo - they need to work together and sort this out - blaming each other is not helping any of the users.

Yahoo Mail app is also not the solution - to begin with it has bad UI (icons and lack of multi-select), no Calendar and Contacts - what have they been thinking😕.

Lot of us have grew with Yahoo last 20++ years - hard to let it go. But end seems near/inevitable at the current rate😟.

I have no idea if the yahoo! app supports calendar features or not since I have zero desire for this functionality, but I can tell you that it absolutely supports "multi-select" and "contacts" (though I suppose it depends on exactly what you mean by that); you probably need to enable checkboxes on the Settings screen. I find the UI just fine, and it does some things the native iOS didn't do. And -- unlike the native iOS app -- IT WORKS. My yahoo! account is 24 years old, and remains not only an archive, but my primary personal-business catch-all address, so I am not prepared to abandon it yet. I certainly agree that each company pointing fingers at the other does nothing to help their respective userbases.

i just had this problem with a new iPhone X. i tried deleting the Yahoo account and reloading, but all that would do is get the current email, then never update the inbox again. The solution was to disable fetch, and set it to manual: settings>Accounts & Passwords>Fetch New Data>Yahoo>Manual

With this change, the inbox only updates the Yahoo mail when I open the Mail app, but at least it works.
