High Sierra freeze

You've described incredible well my issues with my 2013 Mac Pro - which by your comments I'm seriously concerned about the effects that High Sierra has on my graphics cards. So a few things - I'll have iTunes, Safari, Mail and whatever other apps open and I get a freeze that allowed the mouse to continue to move and music continue to play but nothing else responds. Also my GeekBench score is shockingly low for that machine (2100) and when I took it to the Apple Store to troubleshot they blamed the RAM and/or RAM board. I ran Rember for 37 hours and it passed all tests so I'm hoping for a HS update that fixes this mess.

Uncalled for I think. I'm not sure everyone has the time to read every comment in this thread, so was just adding my comment based on my experience with the varied hardware I have. If you feel you have to resort to insults to make your point I suggest you move on.

2012 Macbook Air freezes. I suspect video content is causing it. Always the same pattern:

-First the the wireless mouse freezes (It's a simple Logitech mouse with a USB receiver)

-I can use trackpad for couple seconds more. It freezes after a while

-Trackpad definitely freezes if I open a terminal, Apple menu, or push power to display power off options (I read something about the "window manager" or something like that regarding this bug, so please look into that)

-Audio or video keeps playing.

Then I have to force shutdown, then restart. Happens once twice a day. Enough to bother me. It started after High Sierra update.

same issue going on here too....

Late 2016 15" MacBook Pro with Touch Bar connected to 5K LG Ultrafine display via Thunderbolt and also a 4K TV via HDMI... every couple days when I plug/unplug any of these displays the entire machine freezes up and I have to boot.

I actually have two identical machines that were bought a few months apart (one personal and one for work) and both experience the exact same issues when plugging / unplugging the external displays... so this is not an issue related to just one machine, it can be easily reproduced with two different machines purchased months apart.

Had no issues with this setup with either machine with Sierra... waited until 10.13.1 came out to update to High Sierra when Apple started pushing the update and force downloading it in the background overnight. Guess I updated too soon... I guess I should have waited until 10.14 came out to be able to update to 10.13... come on Apple, fix this bug.

Apple really forcing download in the background overnight? They are now even worsen than Microsoft. And their QA has been worse for a long time now.

So it seems. I now have 4.8GB Installer on my system:

Shame on you! Thank god I was not traveling in the past weeks. Imagine downloading 4.8GB without my permission while roaming on my phone.

I switch from PC to a late-2013 MBp last month and this freezing seems to get worse. Earlier I was just on Photoshop and Firefox and the freezing started. It seems to happen 3-4 times a day, regardless of what I'm working on. Does stuff like this happen everytime Apple releases a new OSX? Cause that seems like something that is unexcusable since I can't get any work done 😟

Kallisti, you need to get off your high horse. Yes it may not be the best answer and I too have had the wrath of your responses. If his response sorted the issue for him, so be it, don't demonise the poster for trying to help. 28 pages of answers to this problem will inevitably mean repeats of previous answers and the longer it goes on the worse it gets. I suggest you back off and let people post their responses without you playing judge and jury over the quality of the answers on this thread. I also suggest you chill and hope Apple find a fix ASAP.

mine's primarily for video too, but that Photos app was the easiest trigger

Ah, just wonderful. This is driving me nuts especially on my Mac Mini 2014. Has it improved things in any way, for example less freezes in a period, or is it about the same as before 10.13.2.

So, updated to 10.13.2..

In the same way you use Asterisks quote "first thing you said was dumb as ****". Give it a rest you are boring everyone now.

thank you all for reporting that 10.13.2 does not fix the issue either. No need to think about upgrading then. At least not before 10.13.3 is out.

I can't test anymore as I don't have any system running High Sierra anymore.

I don't think testers are to blame.

We have reported this issue more than a month ago....

Wrong. This was reported to Apple during High Sierra beta already. More than 6 months ago. And they still decided to release it.
