iOS11 notifications disappearing from lock screen

For what it’s worth, for those of you talking about switching to android, I have stopped using iMessages where possible and so I almost never experience the problem now. If you are able to get your friends to use telegram/what’s app/slack/hangouts, etc, it may relieve the issue and your frustration. Switching off iMessages is hard but you’d have to do it anyway if you were switching to Android.

I’ve reported this problem to Apple via their bug reporting system. If the problem is already in the system one usually gets a reply that the report is a duplicate – that didn’t happen in this case. This makes me think the problem probably isn’t as widespread as one might think being in the middle of experiencing it.

I don’t have the problem myself but I’m trying to help – but I need one of you who can reproduce the problem to produce a log file that I can pass on to Apple – instructions here:

I don’t have the problem myself and my friend who had it dropped his phone in the water before managing to create the log file. Now using a phone with iOS 10 he's not having the problem anymore.

Turning off show in history worked for me too. I am having the issue with the mail app only. All other notifications are persistent but mail disappears on unlock which is super annoying.

try updating your phone through iTunes instead of over the air next time you get an update

I've tried that but still have the problem. The messages disappear from the lock screen in a matter of seconds. I don't even have time to see who they're from before they go. If I'm using the iPhone normally then the notification stays permanently.

I also noticed that the issue only seems to occur when "show in history" is turned on and the message contains content in the body, if I send myself an email with a subject and no content in the body the message does not disappear like the other notifications do for some reason.

I agree. I have tried almost everything and it seems the only way to solve this issue is to turn off show in history, which defeats the purpose of the notification centre altogether. I’m quite surprised no one has reported this bug before this thread... it occured to me in iOS 10 as well

One update: only the email messages to my work Exchange account disappear when "Show in History" is turned on; messages to my personal GMail account remain. The mailboxes behave identically when I turn off "Show in History" for each account.

Just adding to say I am also having this issue. I was hoping the update that just came thru would solve it - but it didn't. This is SUPER annoying and Apple has to do something. I always just check my lock screen for texts. If I don't see anything, I assume I don't have a text. I hate having to unlock my phone every time to check. Most of my notifications appear and then immediately disappear. Other will stay up for a while...but after an hour, they're gone. I will try to update my phone from iTunes tonight. And I've toggled off 'show in history' for now to see if that helps today. I hope more people comment on this thread so they can see this really is a problem.

It does “fix it” for me, in a sense. If I haven’t touched the lock screen then all my notifications stay on there, which is good. However I generally like the “show in history” feature, without it the notification centre is basically useless. So I’d call it a work-a-round, not a fix.

It has stopped the issue from occurring for me though.

Right - same same - turn on texts staying on lock screen haha

It’s just my texts :/ everything else is fine and on the same setting as the texts are now. Everything will show on the screen then bump to “earlier today” except texts which just disappear.
