iOS11 notifications disappearing from lock screen

Had the same problem with Apple. They always act as if they’ve never heard of this problem and then proceed to tell me it’s being fixed in the next iOS update. Somewhat contradictory at the least. That was three updates ago and still no fix. Lost count of how many full backups and restores I’ve had to do. There other manufacturers out there all competing for our business. Shame though. I love Apple products but this is just going in for far too long.

For what it’s worth, for those of you talking about switching to android, I have stopped using iMessages where possible and so I almost never experience the problem now. If you are able to get your friends to use telegram/what’s app/slack/hangouts, etc, it may relieve the issue and your frustration. Switching off iMessages is hard but you’d have to do it anyway if you were switching to Android.

I would love to help with this issue as it’s become a constant source of aggravation in my world however I am denied access to the site for which you provided the link. Probably something to do with the fact that I live in Canada. It happens frequently. I wish you success though. I hope someday my expensive iPhone will again be as useful and reliable as it once was.

Oh, sorry – it seems one has to be logged in as a developer (or something) to access that PDF with the instructions. I’ll see if it’s possible to share in another way without violating any agreements.

You need to send me the resulting ”sysdiagnose” file to me so I can attach it to the bug report. I don't think it will contain any personal information, but please open it (I guess it's just a text file) and make sure. 🙂

I am having the same issue as others. However, I also totally “lost” the message being sent. It is simply gone from everywhere. As it turns out it is a very important message, and I do not have a return phone number! Any suggtions on how to find that message?

It seems the message is pretty much gone. I lost 3 yesterday & also do not have a return number. I am very angry that this has gone on for this long & Apple is not doing a **** thing about it. I cannot keep loosing/missing messages as I need it for my job & it is affecting my clients & my salary. Gonna go a get me an Android & be over Apple once & for all...

That’s the big problem. I can live with the notifications vanishing but the actual messages are lost forever too. There appears to be no way to retrieve them. I’m tired of the lack of interest Apple has shown in resolving this issue and I too am looking at Androids for my next upgrade. Good luck everyone.

There 14 pages to this thread!! I just cannot fathom why Apple keeps its mouth shut on this. At least say you are working on it or a solution/fix is coming up. As it stands it seems they just don't give a crap & that is really poor business & customer service. We will go elsewhere as we need a reliable phone to effectively & efficiently run our lives.

Just out of curiosity, I wonder what model iPhones every one who has this problem is using. I’m using an iPhone 6 and it was suggested that perhaps Apple might be deliberately ignoring this issue in the hopes that users will upgrade to a newer phone. Has anyone else considered this possibility?

I think in the first post they said they have an iPhone 8 I have 6 Plus ..so I don't think it is the model but maybe Apple thinks we will upgrade?? They are crazy if they think that. I for one am ready to say good bye to Apple. I know folks w/older Samsung & not having any issues.

You make a good point and I had forgotten that an earlier post referred to an iPhone 8. As for Samsung, I also know quite a few people who are very happy with theirs and have had no ongoing, apparently unsolvable issues like this. I’m long overdue for an upgrade but am holding out for this issue to be fixed but it’s gone on far too long.

I'm on a iPhone 6 too and have never seen this problem.

I see I replied to myself instead of you there with the guide on how to create a "sysdiagnose" – maybe you missed it?

If some of you having this problem could help and do what's said there and let me have the resulting file so I can attach it to the problem report I have done, maybe the chances of getting this fixed will increase. We don't know if it's a common problem – if not, it might slip under the radar if no one reports it properly.

I’m having the same problem and it’s super annoying. It will show the notification on my messages app but it is disappearing from my lock screen just like yours. I’ve tried everything to fix it and it has nothing to do with the temporary/ persistent thing. Ugh Apple please help!!

I’ve had this problem since October, 2017 and have spoken to Apple support numerous times. I’ve had varied responses from them including a promise that it will be fixed with the next iOS upgrade and at the other end of the spectrum they tell me it’s a very rare issue. Neither of these is true as anyone in this discussion group will tell you. We all hope for resolution soon but now Apple doesn’t seem to want to even acknowledge the problem exists. As much as I love Apple products, my next upgrade will likely be an Android unless Apple miraculously fixes this problem in the near future. I wish you success and If you are able to find a fix for this please let us know.
