Apple TV 4K Netflix No Video

Apple TV 4k, Netflix: Audio only, no Video. restored ATV to factory, reinstalled NF app, cable is compliant, AVR settings and TV settings ok as no issue in other apps. Worked fine until today. OS 11.1. everything has been reset, reinstalled, rebooted, and reconnected. Any ideas? NF works fine through the app on the TV as well as the app on the cable box.

I had the exact same problem with the Apple TV 4k (OS 11.1, most recent update)

TV: Hisense 55H9B2 4k curved tv

Cable: Apple-recommended Belkin Ultra HDMI cable

(plus about 6 other 18Gbps cables I bought from Monoprice for much less)

All YouTube 4k content played fine, and I could play 4k movies from iTunes with no problems. Netflix would allow me to browse the content, but when I played 4k videos I would hear sound and could see the UI elements but the video stream was a green screen. When I played regular 1080P content the screen was black, but I could hear sound and see UI.

The Apple TV 4k automatically chose 4k SDR, and would not switch to any other output resolutions. I called Netflix and Apple trying to troubleshoot, but neither could find a solution except to point out that it seems like an HDCP 2.2 issue and to try upgrading my cable. I tried 7 difference cables, including the recommended one from Belkin.

I finally found a post on Amazon for my TV which mentioned that my TV firmware needed an update. The TV's online firmware update feature returned nothing, but I knew mine was the oldest shipped for this TV. Thankfully, someone posted the most recent firmware file on Amazon. I updated via flash drive, and suddenly the Apple TV 4k asked to upgrade the display output to 4k 60Hz HDR. After I changed the output, Netflix started displaying all videos properly.

Check for a firmware update for your television.

For reference for anyone with the Hisense 55H9B2 TV, I upgraded from F1211 to H0117 in order to enable 4k 60Hz HDR (https://www.amazon.com/gp/customer-reviews/R24J42DVDCE5FM/ref=cm_cr_getr_d_rvw_t tl?ie=UTF8&ASIN=B00ZGIJDOU).

I had a black screen with sound. I went to Settings > Audio and video > and got a "match content" button. I turned on the audio and video matching buttons and got both audio and video for the first time since upgrading to the ATV 4K. I thought I had broken the code, but the next time I went to watch a Netflix movie, I got the old black screen with sound again. This time, I went straight to the Settings > Audio and video > and there was no match content button. The video was set to 780 ? 60 Hz? and provided other 50 and 60 cycle options, but none that matched content. I tried several with no success. How do I get the "match content" option to reappear? How do I get it to stay "on" permanently once they are set? Is anyone from Apple trying to assist its customers with this issue?

I just upgraded my TV to 4k with hdr Sony X900E, before I had a 4k LG model with no hdr. Now I have to constantly unplug my Apple TV to watch Netflix, Hulu and amazon even if it’s an hd or lower resolution. ITunes Apple TV works fine, YouTube works fine without a reset.... is there gonna be a fix or firmware update???!!!

Out of curiosity, has anyone tried another brand of 4K streamers? I’m just wondering how Amazon, Google, or even Roku devices are fairing in the 4K streaming world. If this is an Apple issue and Apple is refusing to fix the issue, then an alternate streaming device might be the solution. Maybe Apple might take more of an interest if people stopped buying the Apple 4K tv and switched to a competitors streaming device. If anything, Apple should be posting that they are aware of the problem and are investigating it instead of remaining quiet.
