Apple TV 4k, Netflix: Audio only, no Video. restored ATV to factory, reinstalled NF app, cable is compliant, AVR settings and TV settings ok as no issue in other apps. Worked fine until today. OS 11.1. everything has been reset, reinstalled, rebooted, and reconnected. Any ideas? NF works fine through the app on the TV as well as the app on the cable box.

I found a fix to this issue and I believe it has to the due with the refresh rate. I changed the option to match the content refresh rate and now everything works! It seems like my TV is able to do this but when the Apple TV tries to force the content to a certain refresh rate that is when it gets into issues!
I hope this will help a lot of people. I noticed that with certain programming such as Netflix or Hulu they have a different refresh rate. Most TVs either display it at the native refresh rate or they upscale it by interlacing or other creative fashions to add in the additional frames. However I do not know if the Apple TV has that ability! Anyways most TVs should be able to perform a refresh rate from 60Hz and down and most content is less than that.

Try taking the Apple TV out of being able to go to sleep. That helped me as much as anything. If mine doesn’t work tonight Apple has my replacement Apple TV 4K to pickup.
Just turn off the Apple TV auto sleep. This is the only thing that seems to work without a restart.
I have the same issue with a new Sony 4K panel. Come on Apple fix this!!! I have less issues with my Roku. How about Youtube 4K while you are at it!
You can also do a restart from the Apple TV without having to unplug. Turn off the auto sleep function of the Apple TV. This seems to work for me and others.

Thank you chaps. For the laymen amongst us, how do we update our Apple TV without a developer access to tvOS 11.4.1 Beta? Have searched unsuccessfully the web for a solution.

Simply click Get Public Beta Updates in the Software update page. Then click Update software and it should prompt you to update to the Beta.

I’m having the same issue!! Does anyone know if this is just Sony TV or is it all kinds of 4K TV. I’m thinking of switching televisions to see if it works.
The 11.4.1 betas fixed the issue for me. Accidentally left autoupdate on and now I’m on 12 beta. The problem is back now. Anyone know of a way to downgrade?
Well I tried the reset and update option, but it says update not available. Would be happy to revert to 11.4 so I can update to 11.4.1 when it’s done. But that doesn’t seem possible at the moment.
I’m still on 11.4.1 and plan to stay there until I know the future updates still work.
