Music keeps pausing / skipping since updating to iOS11

Ever since I updated to iOS11 (specifically, I'm on 11.0.3 right now) on my iPhone7, my use of Spotify has been completely messed up. The music will just randomly pause or skip to some random place in the song. Sometimes it works fine, and sometimes it will do this so frequently that it's unusable. There seems to be some correlation with movement. For example, it happens a lot when I first stick my phone in my pocket. Sometimes instead of just pausing it will cause Apple Music to start playing. (When this especially annoying feature kicks in, I can usually get rid of it by rebooting.) Often, none of my earbud controls will work, or if they do, the pause button will cause Apple Music to start playing. This is almost certainly an iOS11 issue rather than a Spotify issue because not only did the problem start exactly when I updated, but I noticed that the problem affects apps other than Spotify (though Spotify is the app I used the most by far). Please fix this, because I'm at my wits end. I'm highly tempted to just nuke the phone completely and start fresh.

I also have this problem. As RealVictor said it correlates to getting a notification. I mostly see it happen whenever I get a Snapchat notification, but saying that I have noticed that the music pauses before I get the notification. Please Fix!

It seems to only happen when not in decent WiFi or using phone data. If i switch my phone to airplane mode and only play downloaded tunes it stops. Turn the airplane mode on and it starts pausing again, even with downloaded tunes. It *****, each time it does that the head unit on my car reports an error, and the also freezes.

No one seems aware of this problem, they just keep asking me to reset my phone - guess to create sufficient inconveniences to deter you from going from help again. 😠 People on the Apple Care app also refused to acknowledge there is a problem. Again asked me to reset my phone. So I've reset my phone more than half a dozen times with no improvements.

Same problem. iPhone 8, 256 GB, bought 12/2017, set up as new phone, only installed and use current versions of apps I need. I have ~5300 of my own songs on the device, and I like to listen to them in shuffle mode using Apple's music player. At first I thought there was a "shake" setting but I couldn't find that. When it skips in the middle of a song, it also completely resets the shuffle list. And I know some of these songs are perfectly good AAC or MP3 files that I have listened to multiple times on multiple devices/computers.

IOS 11.2.1

Yes, I know that I can upgrade to IOS 11.2.2, but the problem has been going on for awhile and notes for 11.2.2 only indicate that it is a security update.

COME ON APPLE. FIX THIS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I made a comment about a week ago on this thread, and have some more info to add.

I'm using the Apple-provided lightning to phone socket adapter. The regular skipping occurred when I listened with Bose QC25 headphones with the Apple-specific inline volume/mic/control switches.

I switched to using my Audio-Technica ATH-M50x headphones with no inline control, and have not had a skip in 3 days. Short sample time, but based on how often I had skips before I think it is significant.

I still submit it is an apple problem due to the wide variety of headphone possibilities and the fact that the inline control of *all* headphones with problems cannot be going bad at the same time. And maybe some people have skips with bluetooth? I did not read the entire long thread. But this might help localize the problem and lead to a solution.

Maybe there are stray low-level signals from movement that the new SW is not programmed to ignore. But sometimes my music would skip when I was seated still. So maybe it's something else.

It's frustrating, though.

This is absolutely infuriating. My phone will play music for 3-5 seconds, pause, play, and pause etc. I have even had problems with it when I am connected to a bluetooth speaker where it will just randomly disconnect. I have had this problem ever since I updated my iPhone 7 to IOS 11. I have been patiently waiting for the updates to fix this problem to no avail. I have quite a long commute to work and without being able to play music on my phone it is extremely frustrating. I have tried every possible solution I can think of. Restarting device, redownloading apps, using different music apps, and everything in between. This is absolutely unacceptable. I have been a loyal Apple customer for many years now and own multiple Apple products. This awful ordeal has left such a sour taste in my mouth that I will no longer be purchasing any Apple products if this is really how they approach situations like this. Simply blaming the apps or anything else as a scape-goat because heaven-forbid there is a problem with their updated software.

I’m having the same problems. I’ll have my headphones plugged in, music plays for like two seconds, pauses, plays, fast forwards or rewinds whatever (why is this even possible) and skips. It also will turn on randomly if my headphones are plugged in and my music app is closed. It ALSO activates Siri at the most random times. I have an iPhone 8 Plus.. got it less than two months ago. Though that’s irrelevant.. I’d like my expensive phone to work properly xo
