Music keeps pausing / skipping since updating to iOS11

Ever since I updated to iOS11 (specifically, I'm on 11.0.3 right now) on my iPhone7, my use of Spotify has been completely messed up. The music will just randomly pause or skip to some random place in the song. Sometimes it works fine, and sometimes it will do this so frequently that it's unusable. There seems to be some correlation with movement. For example, it happens a lot when I first stick my phone in my pocket. Sometimes instead of just pausing it will cause Apple Music to start playing. (When this especially annoying feature kicks in, I can usually get rid of it by rebooting.) Often, none of my earbud controls will work, or if they do, the pause button will cause Apple Music to start playing. This is almost certainly an iOS11 issue rather than a Spotify issue because not only did the problem start exactly when I updated, but I noticed that the problem affects apps other than Spotify (though Spotify is the app I used the most by far). Please fix this, because I'm at my wits end. I'm highly tempted to just nuke the phone completely and start fresh.

I also have this problem. As RealVictor said it correlates to getting a notification. I mostly see it happen whenever I get a Snapchat notification, but saying that I have noticed that the music pauses before I get the notification. Please Fix!

I know! I heard there was suspicion about Apple doing something like that a few months ago, but I didn’t wanna believe it! If they are purposely glitching the software just so people can upgrade to the lasteat iPhone, that’s really fukked up!!

I got the 7 and it really don’t seem like I had it more than a year!

As I’m typing this commet, random song in my iTunes are ramsomly playing out of nowhere and skipping, and the Voice Control featured keeps coming on simply because I’m typing. It’s crazy!!

Apple really need to get this together, seriously! And I just hope their not glitching the older iPhones on purpose.

It is now March 2018 and they still have not fixed this issue. I can’t listen to any audio including podcasts while walking because of the constant skips, fast forwards, and interruptions. I have an iPhone 7, relatively new, and have upgraded to the latest software. This is a dealbreaker for me, Apple, so please resolve this problem or at the very least acknowledge it.

I have an iPhone X on iOS 11.2.6. I have Apple Music songs downloaded and saved to the phone, and play it over Bluetooth in the car. Every single day on my way to work, my iPhone will pause, and it happens in the exact same location on my commute: (the 5 / 405 split in Irvine, CA.) Whenever I cross that interchange, I have to hit the play button to start my music again. This week, my spouse and I swapped cars, and my phone still did the exact same thing, so I know it’s not my car, it’s the phone.

We’re almost halfway into 2018 and the problem persists. This started happening to me about a week ago. Audio glitches, skipping, pausing for no reason. I spend 8 hours a day listening to music and podcasts at work with my iPhone 7. This is absolute ****. Usually I can fix the problem (only for it to happen a thousand times again) by unplugging my headphones and replugging them. But if I’m listening to music on speaker there’s no way to fix this. I have iOS 11.3. I’m going to update to 11.3.1 and see if anything happens.

I've been running into this problem (Apple Music kept stopping after 2 seconds of playback) with a new iWatch 3 with GPS/cellular and an iPhone. Wife's iPhone X and her iWatch 3 seemed to work fine, no issues.

My main systems are Android based and only got iPhone/iWatch for Apple Music.

Updated OSes on both the iWatch 3 and the iPhone today (04/28). Deleted all playlists on the iWatch and synced only one. Removed all notifications. Music plays non stop now.

Hoping this helps at least someone.

It’s my iPhone 8 Plus - My YouTube and music will for some reason pause and then play. I can be on my YouTube account and then it just stops then my music begins to play. I press pause on my music then I click home button to go into settings and the music starts again. What is up??? It’s just started happening two days ago my mid day. I have to turn my phone off and then back on. Can you Apple guys fix this

My phone was doing okay for about a week or two. Now it’s back to skipping, changing volumes, glitching, changing songs and podcast episodes, pausing and unpausing. Might smash my phone against a wall soon. I feel like it has something to do with static. I keep my phone in my pocket and sometimes if my pocket touches the headphone jack the glitches start happening and won’t stop until I unplug it and plug it back in. Might see what happens if I use a non-Apple headphone with no audio control buttons.

iPhone SE. Wifi on / off. Airplane on / off. Cellular data on / off. Bluetooth on / off. Playback via phone speaker / headphones / BT speaker via cable or BT. Makes no difference. Fault is the same...

Listening to music from itunes, spotify or youtube. Pause then restarts on its own a few seconds later. Proper annoying. This doesn't appear to be wifi / cellular related as the same thing happens when playing downloaded music completely isolated from any outside source or network. It's the flippin' phone software. Was running fine since I got the phone months ago - till I did the update. Not happy....... If I wanted a microsoft style buggy P.O.S i'd have bought one (at lower cost).

Sort it out Apple.

I have had a similar issue for years. First on an iPhone 5, then iPhone 6, now iPhone 6s. Spotify randomly starting/skipping/pausing/playing at 2x speed, problems with Apple Music and podcasts too. It seems to be more of an issue when I'm walking around, which is infuriating because that's when I want to listen to audio without fooling with my phone. I've used headphones from Apple as well as third party brands. Every time I go to the Apple store they recommend cleaning out my headphone jack and send me on my way. At this point there is a zero percent chance of finding one molecule of lint in my headphone jack, but it's still messed up. And in any case, now I'm using a Bluetooth earbud and STILL having problems. It's not the Bluetooth connection either - I can use the earbud from across the house with no problem. It's been over four years, three phones, and at least eight pairs of headphones. I'm giving up and buying a Pixel as soon as I can afford it, because clearly Apple is no longer in the business of making functional products.
